Mum sent me this one this morning (circa 2008) and I have been reflecting all day about my early days as a new OT... how grateful I was to land my first job at Mt Olivet (now St Vincent’s) ... how quickly I realised that hospital work was not for me ... how when I did get my first community job I had no clue where that grab rail should go

23.01.2022 New word to add to my home mods lingo = Spalling... "refers to the crumbling or flaking of the surface of the material". Now instead of saying that the stairs are crumbling I can use fancy jargon and say the stairs are spalling

17.01.2022 Ramps are not always the answer... an experienced home mods OT can help you weigh up the pros and cons. In this case a landing, new stairs (with closed risers and tread edging) and bilateral handrails did the trick, my client now has the confidence to enter / exit her home safely and independently.
