There are eight drawers, three full length bottom drawers, two square hat drawers, two small drawers, and a serpentine shaped "secret" top drawer. 24.01.2022 Another eventful week with 6 sales and what I thought was a week of looking, looking, looking for no result, but alas, I was wrong. I am off to Mount Eliza tomorrow to pick up a lovely hallstand and that will fill up the shed as I picked up some beauties at the auction today. With the current situation as far as people travelling around, I am pretty flexible and can hold items for a reasonable period or can help organise transport. Those that do pick up are expected to wear f...ace coverings, sanitise hands with the sanitiser provided before they enter my shed, and nobody can organise a pick up unless I have a confirmed mobile number for my safety as well as everyone elses. In the shed this week I have a good array. Pic 1) A 1923 working Singer treadle. For some reason I like working on these. Will be ready for photos on Tuesday. Pic 2) This Art Deco secretaire is a great challenge. It will never be perfect but gee its nice. Aiming for Tuesday photos. Pic 3 & 4) A Jacobean sideboard that has class written all over it. Do I sell it with the back? It would be a shame not to. Questions. questions. What is the answer? Pic 5) Parker twin butterfly leaf teak extension dining table. C1987. If you are looking for a BIG table, this is it. Extends from 205 cm to 291 cm. Thats big enough for the 10 chairs I also have for sale. Pic 6) 10 Parker chairs to suit the table, 8 standard and 2 carvers. Where do you get that many chairs? Pic 7) Still waiting for those handles. Pic 8) Not much happened on this. Maybe next week. 23.01.2022 Jacobean bookcases do not get much better than this. I picked up this beauty today. It is made from English oak with 3 fully adjustable shelves and has been fully restored at some point. I will give it a quick clean and it will present as good as the day it was made. And that is why it SOLD straight away!!

23.01.2022 What a cracker of a week it has been- great weather, plenty of sales and a challenging array of interesting items to keep me amused. In the shed coming up Pic 1) Art Deco oak and veneer hall stand. It is soo of the period!! Pic 2) A beautiful oak sideboard. Apologies for the shit picture/s. This is not as orange in real life and is a quality piece. Pic 3) A repo 3 door mahogany chiff. Pic 4) Arts and Crafts hall table. Same again, much better in real life. I call this an 'Ik...ea' piece because when I picked it up it was in a dozen pieces!! Pic 5) A Victorian mahogany sideboard/ chiff. Another shit picture. This is beautiful in real life. Pic 6) This spade foot oak sideboard has a couple of issues but nothing too drastic. Pic 7) Anyone for a mirror? The smaller Victorian mahogany mirror is $25. Ths Arts and Crafts oak mirror has some age spots but is really different. $45. Both have hanging chains. Call me if you want one of them. Pic 8) Maybe next week?? Pic 9) Maybe whenever!! Pic 10) I still am looking for one tiny little part for this. One more week. There is a bit there to keep me off the streets. I am thinking I might take the bike for a spin tomorrow. 21.01.2022 Had a fantastic auction today and even though I only bought 2 items, they are fantastic pieces. The first one was a left hand lamp table and the second one is a right hand lamp table. I am still trying to figure out which one is which - and if you believe that then you must still be on your Friday lunch! I cant complain though, I know alot of people who are not working at all and are couped up in their homes. I feel for you guys. Lets hope this lockdown does its job and we... can all return to some normality soon. The shed is pretty bare at the moment. Plenty of pick ups this week. Coming up Pic 1) a pair of Drexel Van Treight lamp tables. Excellent quality, American inspired. Pic 2) This is a really cute vintage bench seat. It has sliding doors on the front and the top also lifts off to access the storage area. Pic 3) the asian teak bureau is nearly there. I have also bought a fantastic Jacobean sideboard with a lovely mirror back. As usual I will sell separately as a sideboard and an overmantle. 20.01.2022 Now this I like. Picked it up yesterday. I would be thinking mid Victorian console or hall table. The legs are a bit wobbly so I will ad a stretcher to fix this (It had one originally). This will sparkle by the time I have finished with it.

18.01.2022 Welcome to Reborntreasures Special Projects. Thats the part of the business that activates when a special person asks "Can you make a cheese board?" Step 1) Find a suitable piece of timber like this section of mahogany from a crappy but well made vintage table. Step 2) Cut out the shape you want. I prefer a more rounded look. Step 3) Lets put a nice edge on it. I hate bland. Step 4) Now its time to remove the coating from the top and sand it to a nice finish. ... Step 5) You need some feet. A bit of pine from around C1900 will do the trick. Step 6) Oil the pine to bring out the natural color. Note that what was the table top is now the bottom. I will give it a couple of coats of satin clear. I am not a gloss person. I will also put some felt pads on the feet so it will not scratch a table top. Step 7) A cheese board all made from recycled materials- I even used second hand slotted screws. Now to get back to that sideboard I started the other day. See more

17.01.2022 What an absolute cracker of a day it was.Hope everyone got to enjoy the sunshine and if not Monday and Tuesday are looking excellent. Time to get the pushbike out again! A steady stream of sales and purchases has kept me busy this week. In the shed. Pic 1) The industrial table that needed bar stools for chairs had its legs cut down to suit dining chairs for an existing client. It is now on its way to Wonthaggi. If you see anything that you would like altered just ask to see ...if it is possible. Coming up Pic 2) this lovely myrtle Art Deco / Retro sideboard will be ready this week. From that cross over period in the 1950's, a hard to get item. Pic 3) Picked up this Victorian mahogany and veneer dressing table today. I see a hall table. Who is looking for a nice mirror? Pic 4) Repo mahogany chiff. Nice. Pic 5) An Asian elm sideboard. This has some age. Pic 6) If I kept this sewing machine any longer I would have to learn how to sew!! A big thank you to Jenni for putting me onto a local who should have the drawers I need to complete this project. The back and seat have tapestry style upholstery and the seat will lift off, so the storage section under the seat can be accessed by the two sliding doors or by lifting the seat. 11.01.2022 I have had such a busy week looking for stuff that I think I have square eyes. So I think it is time for a break to do other things. Until lockdown is finished I will still dabble a bit here and there but not much will be advertised. 11.01.2022 In the run up to Xmas it is a case of get what you can. Had a great week sourcing some interesting things from contacts and previous clients so the shed is slowly filling. Coming up: Pic 1) This Victorian mahogany chest is a beauty. Advertised next week. Pic 2) Remember how I said this davenport had a few secrets last week, after a good look I found them and they were all bad. Some work required. Pic 3 and 4) This walnut overmantle or sideboard back is just brilliant. One o...f the best I have had in ages. Some hazing on the mirror which you would expect but it is one that I would have in my house if I had an open fire with a mantle piece. Pic 5) SOLD already. Pic 6) A Victorian mahogany hall table. Some TLC left to do. Pic 7) This lovely oak sideboard has such a distinct grain. I have just stripped the top and the other drawer. Looking good. Pic 8) This is what you call my Xmas project. A bit of love here, a bit of love there. It will shine in the end. Pic 9) Time for a seat. Bloody heavy, bloody big, bloody comfortable. I am thinking I can do something here. The Velvet Underground & Nico ( Any Warhol is certainly an acquired taste!) is spinning on the turntable as we type. I will change it up a bit with Lou Reed - Transformer next. 10.01.2022 SURPRISE, SURPRISE!! Well I thought that after doing this for 10 plus years I would have seen it all. This shows that I still know diddly! Having a good look at the hall table this morning I found the top was a bit loose. When I tried to lift it, It just kept coming. I then lifted the other end and found out that the hall table was actually a servery or dumb waiter. How cool is that!!! Pretty smart those people from the mid 1800s, and how dumb was I??

08.01.2022 I ran out of furniture to play with midweek and was just about to hang the "Gone On Holidays" sign out and then I remembered, we cannot go anywhere. Luckily I picked up some nice pieces today. As you can see, sales are flying along and I am back down to 5 items for sale. I can go into making more cheese boards - not! What is in the shed coming up???? Pic 1) This Jacobean sideboard spent a bit of time in the Reborntreasures hospital. It has come up a treat and is looking for a... new home. Pic 2) 8 Victorian style balloon back mahogany chairs. These are nice chairs with some age and sets of 8 are hard to get. Will look at them over the weekend. Pic 3) This cute little mahogany display has 3 glass shelves and is perfect for those where space is a premium. Pic 4) I like this one. Chinese pine cabinet. As a kitchen pantry cabinet, in a bathroom or laundry for storage, a very useful design. Pic 5) Teak bureau. I think it is finished at last. Pic 6 - 8) Mahogany and mahogany veneer dining table. Approx size is 170 cm X 110 cm. Seats 6 easy and a tight 8. The top is in excellent condition. If you want it you can have it for $40 as long as it is gone soon. 07.01.2022 A bit of an up and down week this week. Sold the small workbench to Michelle and Marc who live around the corner from me. When it came to how they were going to get it home we carried it to the road and because it was on wheels they pushed it home. Now that's Hills thinking. Always great to do business with such lovely down to earth people. On the flipside I bought and paid for 2 items on Marketplace only to be told the next day by the seller that they wanted more and they we...re refunding my money. All I know is that my word is worth alot more than that. The shed is still a bit empty. Pic 1) Victorian cedar 7 drawer chest with cotton reels. This is nice. Will be ready for photos Tuesday. Pic 2) The Singer sewing machine is getting there. The top has been re-done but I want to change 2 of the drawers when I can find some more. Pic 3) Now this does not look like much but it is a 1950's Myrtle sideboard. From that crossover period from Art Deco to Retro. It certainly needed a bit of TLC so it will be ready in a couple of weeks. Pic 4) Ooops, that is the Victorian cedar Chiffoniere I am picking up tomorrow. (Unless they do a backflip too.) 06.01.2022 Well if that wasnt a challenging week, I do not know what is!! Super busy with sales, pick ups and deliveries at the start of the week. Spent heaps of time since then trying to figure out how I can operate within the stage 4 rules. As a online seller I can still operate under certain parameters. Contactless pick ups by allowable people must be prearranged by calling me on 0418104243. I can supply the name of a carrier for most Melbourne suburbs and East coast destinations.... I will hold certain items until the end of the lockdown depending on the certain circumstances. Same again, please call me to discuss. Thats the easy part. The hard part is getting some decent stock to sell. Lets just say, it has become super challenging. It the shed coming up is three fifths of jack. But on the bright side, I can still work. Pics 1&2) I picked up this lovely Victorian cedar chiffonier today. The backboard is already firewood and I will re do the top. A great piece. Pic 3) With not much else to do I made a start on this teak bureau. It was at the back of the shed for a reason. Pic 4) Those handles must be coming via the bloody moon!! Pic 5) This is a really nice Japanese coffee table. The top is made from an old door. I will run a coat of oil over it this week. Pic 6) A Jacobean sideboard that has had the feet cut down. 02.01.2022 Funny the things you come across in this trade. Picked this chair up yesterday as I believe it is an excellent example of a 1950's chair. Past that, all I know is that it is made of myrtle, and the seat is 1 1/4 inches thick in the old money which tells me it came from a serious furniture maker of the day. Fred Ward?? Grant Featherston?? Time to do a bit of digging. Any ideas guys?????

02.01.2022 The sideboard arrived late last night. The top is great. The bottom needs a fair bit of TLC. Nothing too bad but when you buy something that is in OK Condition you do not expect it to be falling apart!!!! Buying from private sellers can be a bit of a lottery.

This lovely antique chest of drawers is in great condition for its 120 plus years with minor marks and signs of use consistent with its age that show its history and add character. 01.01.2022 Isnt it nice to see the sun again and get some warmth in the air. Certainly makes my job much easier especially when I have things to re coat. As I said last week I am spending more time doing other things this month so I did not look too hard for new stock because there is very little around. Even the auction today was devoid of anything for me. I will still amble along with what I find and do the repairs to get things ready for advertising. For the next few weeks I am not... advertising much so if you see something on the Friday post you can ring me on 0418104243 for information or wait a while until it is advertised. Pics 1-5) In the shed this week I have been working on this lovely Victorian metamorphic table. Use it as a hall or console table, and when you need more shelf space, lift the top up to give you another tier. I have added the stretcher and fixed the wobble. Nearly done. Pics 6-7) A Fred Ward retro 1950s Myrtle sideboard. These are pretty rare and with good quality retro hard to find this would make a great addition for the retro buyers. Pic 8) I picked up this cedar hall table during the week. The top is amazing. And finally, Pic 9) At the end of the day we all need a comfortable chair to relax in. This is my mid 1800s elm chair that sits next to my BBQ. It got a clean and oil this week as I can see the BBQ cooking up a storm next week. Music tonight, Pink Floyd - Delicate Sounds Of Thunder.
