04.05.2022 It’s National Volunteer Week, and we would like to thank ALL of our volunteers during Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering! The theme for 2022 is: Better Together. Volunteering brings people together; it builds communities and creates a better association. This week we want to celebrate YOU - our amazing volunteers! Volunteers have always been at the heart of our association and play an important role in helping us ensure you get to play hockey every wee...k. Thank you to ALL those who help out, whether it be setting up, packing down, tech bench, equipment officers, bar attendants, in the canteen, selling raffles, coaching, the committees, managers, the board, bringing the fruit, grant writers, line markers, IT, photographers, first aid officers and many many more, we appreciate everything you do! Volunteering can help you make friends, learn new skills and even feel happier and healthier. With the busy lives we all currently lead, 5 minutes to lend a hand throughout the day, can go a long way. If you are yet to volunteer, make it your week and put your hand up today. And again, THANK YOU TO ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS WHO MAKE HOCKEY HAPPEN, we are Better Together!

20.03.2022 Volunteer Shoutout! A special shoutout goes to our tech bench coordinator, Peta Dunnett, for all she does on the tech bench for Redlands. Without Peta, the games would not run, and especially not on time! Peta is there from set up to pack down, ensuring everything goes to plan. She ensures all the teams are on the correct field, on time, and most importantly, keeps those coaches in line! Peta is a brilliant mentor to those who want to learn the ropes of all thing's tech bench. Thank you for everything you do Peta!

08.03.2022 Just because we can’t train at the fields this week, doesn’t mean we can’t practice at home! Bronte is here to explain the fundamentals of pushing Why not give it a go yourself, find an outside wall (be careful of windows) or a sibling, a parent or your dog (use a tennis ball!), and practice your pushing

13.01.2022 Sadly the boys went down to Wide Bay 2-0 in another tight and exciting match. They had lots of opportunities, but just couldn’t find the net today. Not quite the result we were after, but to make the final 3 years in a row is an amazing achievement. The boys can hold their heads high as they have played an outstanding tournament. Second overall is a pretty good result in any case!!

04.01.2022 The Met East team have been playing some amazing hockey this week in Rocky. Yesterday they played Capricornia in the semi final. While Capricornia had a quality team with numerous Qld and Australian players and came out firing. They definitely set the pace and I thought we were in for a thrashing. They had about 4-5 short corners in the first quarter, but we had some brilliant defence from our GK and defensive players who kept them scoreless. Our boys were buggered after suc...h an intense game against Darling Downs in the morning and it was pretty warm as well. Under some really challenging conditions, they managed to hold them out and half time score 0-0. Then in the 3rd quarter the boys managed to score off a short corner and eased some of the pressure. Then they scored a fantastic field goal, putting us ahead 2-0 going into the 4th quarter. So after a gruelling 4th quarter, Met East held on to win and progress through to their 3rd grand final in a row. Awesome effort boys. You have done your schools, region, coach, manager and parents proud. Fantastic job. Whatever happens today, you should be very proud of yourselves. It is quite an amazing achievement to make the final in these tournaments, but to make it 3 years in a row is fantastic. They are up against wide bay - a repeat of last year’s final. Let’s hope our boys can come away with the trophy again!!! See more
