20.01.2022 We have been so encouraged to see our church family rally together over the past few months to support international students affected by COVID-19. An incredible team of volunteers have been faithfully cooking meals to deliver to students and we were blown away by a number of students who decided to join the cooking team themselves after being blessed by your hospitality! If you have a car and love to chat with others, we'd love your help this weekend to deliver meals to students. You can collect the meals from church and deliver them to students either on Saturday 12 Sept between 3-5pm or Sun 13 Sept from 11-1pm or 2-4pm - this is definitley something you can do with kids and is a great way to get them involved! While gathering restrictions have changed in Greater Brisbane, under our Queensland Government-approved COVIDSafe Industry Plan, church is still fine to gather in person. We will be live streaming both the 9am and 5pm services, so whether we see you in person or online, we look forward to worshipping our great God together! The river life, 'the Maginnchin', we find ourselves surrounded by is lined with mangroves and tall trees that have supported this land for many years. The Jagera and Turr...bal Nations were a strong and happy peace-loving people who happily welcomed newcomers. As a church, we too, desire to be peace-loving and welcoming as we learn how to walk better with, reconcile faith and cultural questions, and to stand in solidarity with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander brothers and sisters. We commit as a Riverlife Family, to treading softly and gently, both on this land at 17 Mile Rocks, as well through our responsibility to create safe, respectful and inclusive spaces for yarning so we can deepen our understanding of one another and together discover pathways to grow, heal and unite through the significant meaning of first nations life and culture. 'Holy Spirit in This Land' by Aboriginal Education Advisor Lisa Buxton, was painted to depict the theme of the inaugural Indigenous Mass at St Mary's Cathedral for Sydney's Catholic schools in 2013.The aim of the Mass is to show respect towards Australia's first people and to celebrate the indigenous culture and build bridges between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians. Paul wanted to see unity in the church and got to the point early about making peace with God first and then with each other. That peace that is needed only comes from a personal relationship with Jesus; our gaze needs to be fixed on Him.
