25.01.2022 The Autumn Show would have been on this weekend. Perhaps we can have a virtual show and members can post what they would have exhibited. We can then have a popular vote for Champion? Here is what we would have had at the show.

24.01.2022 My current list of cancelled shows and events in SE Qld is below. I expect more to be added. Many clubs have only cancelled shows as far as May but cancellations will continue forward unless there is a very significant change in the course of COVID-19 in Australia.

21.01.2022 NOTICE TO MEMBERS A special committee meeting was held tonight, Wednesday 18th March, to discuss the implications of the Covid-19 (Corona Virus) - the subsequent Federal Government directions to the wider community; and their likely impact on the Society’s operations and membership. The following decisions were made and apply forthwith:-... The proposed Bundaberg Triennial Visit has been cancelled; this has been conferred with the Bundaberg Orchid Society. All members who have paid towards this trip will receive full refunds and are advised to contact Sandra Rowcliffe so refunds can be deposited directly into your accounts. The forthcoming Autumn Show has been cancelled in consideration of the risk to members, the vast majority who are in the high-risk categories, and that most of our attendees are also in those groups. There was the likely hood of very low attendance if it proceeded the committee believes that this is the only logical course of action. Consideration was also given when making these decisions where many other orchid societies have already cancelled or are in the process of cancelling their forthcoming shows. With respect to the continuance of Monthly meetings, it was also decided to cancel the next four meetings MARCH, APRIL, MAY AND JUNE. This decision will be reviewed in June and members will be informed accordingly as required. Likewise the Growers Group Meetings are cancelled immediately, including the upcoming meeting to have been held at the Humbles. Again, our members’ safety is paramount. No Monthly newsletters will be published in April and May as there would be insufficient content. Sandra will publish a June newsletter to advise members when our operations will recommence. We hope all of our members and their families will not be affected health wise with this pandemic . Jeffrey Bloxsom President .

20.01.2022 John Frisch giving a very informative commentary on the beautiful plants that were benched at our first meeting back since COVID. We are lucky enough to have a large wealth of knowledge of plant culture within our club members. There is always something to learn.

With 8 pages of AOC Awards plus the New Orchid Hybrid list supplement from the Royal Horticultural Society it has something for everyone. You can get it for yourself or it would make a brilliant present for a loved one. It is great value and until the 30th June 2020 subscriptions are $55 for six issues per year (Australian Dollars, GST and postage included). The next magazine will be out in June so act now to get your copy. There will be a price increase starting on the 1st July to $60 p. a. so grab your subscriptions now if you want to beat the price rise.

10.01.2022 THANK YOU FROM ZOE KIDMAN For those members who know and those members who don't - one of our members Zoe Kidman suffered a stroke a few weeks ago. Zoe called me this morning, she is still in hospital and undergoing rehabilitation until at least the end of May. She has received so many well wishes but is unable to individually reply so has asked me to post this message. We all wish Zoe a full and quick recovery.

07.01.2022 Saturday 5th December we celebrated the end of a very different year. With no shows and minimal meetings we are looking forward to a better 2021 and hopefully a healthier world.
