25.01.2022 Pure Joy Women Empowerment Uganda took time out to thank the Club for supporting the project over the last 5 years. Tailoring has 6 trainees and Hairdressing has 11 ladies learning as much as they can when they can, with very tight restrictions during another 42-day lockdown allowing only 3 ladies in each workspace. We send best wishes to these brave ladies and our sincere thanks to Pure Joy Founders and Ugandan Project Managers, Grace and Collins for their exceptional commitment, despite very challenging circumstances, to help disadvantaged women in their community continue to learn new skills, so they have a better chance of working their way out of the cycle of poverty.

21.01.2022 Delighted to hold our annual Changeover before lockdown happened and celebrate the past year's achievements and induct incoming President Julie Jones who will lead Rotary Woy Woy for 2021-22. Outgoing President Joan Redmond said that despite the disruptions of the pandemic, the Club continued to serve the community and help to advance the lives of others, near and far. "We achieved more than I thought possible. We found new ways to connect and serve our local community, and ...although we couldn't hold our annual major fundraiser Opera in the Arboretum, we were able to create new projects and donate over $37,000 to Rotary and club projects, and local NFP organisations, with assistance from partners and sponsors." Thanks to: Everglades Country Club, Rotary Club of Umina Beach, Bendigo Bank Ettalong, Deepwater Older Women's Network, Charles Brock, Don Tee Plumbing and Peninsular Office Supplies.

08.01.2022 100 Years of Rotary in Australia was celebrated on the Central Coast with the unveiling of a new plaque at Mount Penang Parklands, Kariong. The plaque sits alongside one erected to mark the Centenary of Rotary International (1905-2005) when clubs on the Central Coast contributed $70,000 to the construction of the Puddle Garden and an adjoining Garden Room. 01.01.2022 It's World Mental Health Day and this year's WHO campaign encourages increased investment in mental health. Rotary clubs across Australia play their part and host #HatDay events to raise funds for Australian Rotary Health mental health research and #Liftthelidonmentalillness. Our event was last week. Members wore hats we've never seen before, some pristine, others battered and worn that had seen better days, but still held unique and precious stories of times past. Some great tales - you just had to be there! And on that note, if you'd like to join us for a meeting, you'd be most welcome. Please ring Jan on 0413 373 357 to let us know you are coming.
