22.01.2022 After 42 years serving the Dingley Village Community It is with a touch of sadness that due to membership numbers decreasing the Rotary Club of Dingley Village has ceased to operate in its own right. As of 1 July 2020 Dingley Village has merged with the Rotary Club of Noble Park-Keysborough and is now the Rotary Club of Noble Park-Dingley. On behalf of the Members we wish to thank all the business' past and present and the Dingley Village community that have supported the club in its fundraising efforts over the years. You can continue to follow the activities of the Rotary Club of Noble Park - Dingley at Facebook page - Noble Park-Dingley Rotary Club.

21.01.2022 *New Rotary Area of Focus: Supporting the Environment* The causes that a Rotary Club in any given year supports through service projects, events and/or fundrais...ing efforts are influenced by a number of factors including Rotary's areas of focus. Rotary has just approved a seventh area of focus - SUPPORTING THE ENVIRONMENT. It joins peacebuilding and conflict prevention; disease prevention and treatment; water, sanitation, and hygiene; maternal and child health; basic education and literacy; and community economic development. The areas of focus are supported by global grants. More than $18 million in Foundation global grant funding has been allocated to environment-related projects over the past five years.

19.01.2022 District Governor Shia Smart had her official visit to the Club last Thursday. Veronica Podbury presented Shia with a cheque towards her family project Books for Families .

14.01.2022 What has the Rotary Club of Dingley Village been doing in these difficult times? We wanted to provide funds to ethical organisations and most importantly know that like us, their services are staffed by volunteers and 100% of what we gave would be used to benefit those people experiencing financial difficulty. To help with the many hardships which have come about because of Coronavirus, we have chosen two organisations with whom we had a prior relationship. These organisati...ons are the Salvation Army Kingston City Corps in Dingley and The Springvale Benevolent Society. We know that they will direct the total of our contribution to help those in most need for either food or financial relief. This comes on top of us making generous donations to Rotary Clubs in Victoria at the start of the year to help those communities affected by bushfire, as well as providing funding to the Smith Family for their Learning for Life programs to help disadvantaged Australian kids and a financial contribution to St Kilda Mums who provide nursery equipment to mums and bubs in need. Money raised or donated to Rotary clubs does not pay wages as all Rotarians are volunteers. Our meetings have been restricted but our giving has not. See more

10.01.2022 Watch out for the 2019 media campaign that will highlight fundraising activities across the country to help our drought stricken farmers. Consider making a dona...tion, that will reach the people who need it most, via the Bendigo Bank ,,,, online or in branch. https://www.communityenterprisefoundation.com.au//rotary/ #WeAreRotary #PeopleOfAction

09.01.2022 The five Rotary Clubs of East Gippsland have come together, forming a Fire Aid Committee, in preference to each club working on their own with possible double u...p. We are a greater force as one collective. 100% of all funds raised will be used to benefit the East Gippsland Community and individuals, that have been impacted by this fire disaster, through no fault of their own. Money raised will be divided into the following categories; 1. Hay/Fodder/ fencing, many land-owners have insurance for their fencing and only require volunteers to assist with cleaning of fence lines. Others will require hay / fodder for their livestock, this we are presently assisting with. 2. Money vouchers, to allow people to purchase new items they can determine for themselves within the local area, returning dignity and independence to the survivors. A knock- on effect to the local retailers will occur, placing money into local businesses which have been hit hard by the loss of the peak holiday season trading. 3. There is also an emergency fund, this is for items that sit outside the above two categories and are deemed to be having a great impact on a community or a family and need urgent action e.g. fuel for a truck load of hay / fodder to be transported into the area. 4. Community BBQ’s and working Bee’s will be organised to assist and support small communities to reconnect with neighbours that may have had to find temporary accommodation outside their local area & support network. Rotary is a worldwide not for profit organisation, where the Local Rotary Community works alongside the Local Communities

07.01.2022 Rotary District Governors have agreed to establish a central fund into which all Australians can donate to support the victims of the devastating bushfires rava...ging our country. 07.01.2022 The Rotary International theme for the year 2020 - 2021

04.01.2022 Good Morning/Afternoon It is with regret that the Rotary Club of Dingley Village advises that after discussions with the Administration of Rotary District 9810 and advice from the Commonwealth Government regarding scheduling of public events in light of the current situation concerning Covid-19, the Commemoration Services planned by the club during the ANZAC Day week have been cancelled.... This also has implications for other events affecting the ANZAC Day week. To ensure that all who are involved in the various events are aware of which events are affected, I have listed each event below; Public Speaking Competition scheduled for 19 March 2020 Kindergarten Service scheduled for 23 April 2020 Schools/Community Service scheduled for 24 April 2020 ANZAC Day Dawn Service scheduled for 25 April 2020 The Rotary club regrets the decision we have had to make but in light of advice from the relevant authorities we have no other alternative. We understand and acknowledge the work that has already gone into preparing for these events but feel it is in the best interest for all concerned. Kind regards Kevan Thomas ANZAC Commemoration Coordinator Rotary Club Dingley Village

04.01.2022 As we are unable to conduct our normal ANZAC Day Services this year we are inviting members of the public to pay their respect individually. During the week leading up to ANZAC Day we are inviting members of the Dingley Village community to place a floral tribute on the Marcus Rd memorial. If you wish to add a card to identify the person/family paying their respect that is perfectly acceptable. We will make sure that the flags are at half mast for the day. We also encourage the community to #STANDTO in their driveways at 6am on ANZAC Day. Lest We Forget AA

03.01.2022 Congratulations to our very own Dr Jessie Harman, who has just been officially announced as Rotary International Director, 2021-2023, representing Zone 8, Austr...alia, New Zealand and the South Pacific! Rotary Down Under caught up with Jessie last week for a chat about all things membership and her plans for the future as we move into a rapidly changing volunteer landscape. Watch this space! We look forward to your inspiring and contagiously positive leadership Jessie. #RotaryInternational #WomenInLeadership #WomenInRotary #RotaryAustralia : @rhysmartinphotographer
