05.01.2022 The Routemate story began in 2012 in the boardroom of our Get A Grip Tyres head office in Welshpool, WA. Dissatisfied with a lack of consistent supply and quality in some of the products that we were importing, we decided to embark on a journey to produce our very own product that would perform in the harsh conditions that the Australian transport industry is renowned for. By creating our own brand, we would now oversee all aspects of Research, Development, Production and Qua...lity of the tyres that we manufactured. Why the name? We wanted to come up with a name that was inherently Australian and would associate itself with the many different routes that the transport industry takes while traversing this great country of ours. Hence the name, Routemate. Your mate on any route. Where did we start? Our first step was to identify a couple of flagship patterns that would become the cornerstone of the Routemate brand. Obviously, an 11R22.5 All Purpose trailer tyre was high on the agenda, along with a Highway pattern trailer tyre. Once we had the designs that we were happy with, we entered into negotiations with some manufacturing plants in China. We trialled a couple of different facilities before choosing our best option, and within a few months we took delivery of our first ever production run of Routemate Truck Tyres. It was a proud day for everyone involved. Where to next? We continued to build the brand over the next few years, reinvesting our turnover so we could add new sizes and patterns as often as we could. During this time, we have had wonderful support from some large transport companies that have allowed us to do extensive product testing on their fleets. The result of this testing has given us the information to tweak a few things at a production and quality control level to now have tyres performing very consistently. Ongoing quality control is paramount to our success as a brand, so we now have a full-time employee based at the factory. We now have Fifteen different product lines in our stable, with more on the horizon in the near future. We are also working hard to have all of our tyres tested and categorised under the new Performance Based Standards (PBS) Scheme, ensuring that Routemate Tyres can be used in all possible applications within the Australian Transport Industry. Our Guarantee to you. All tyres sold by Get A Grip Tyres are protected not only by manufacturer’s warranty, but also by our comprehensive Product Indemnity Insurance. We are so confident in the products that we build that we now offer a 100% Lifetime Replacement Guarantee on all Routemate Truck Tyres. That means if you ever have a manufacturing defect during the life of the tyre, we will replace it free of any pro-rata charge. It is our way of saying that we stand behind every tyre that we produce.
