24.01.2022 Lots of smiling faces on the water tonight for Transition, Optimist, 29er, Laser and Masters sailing. Shifty conditions made keeping eyes out of the boat and trusting your long term strategy really important. Spending quality time on the water growing as sailors and people. ... Lots of knowledge and tips gained from debriefing. Great to see WAIS sailors putting time back into our sport and mentoring our future stars. Special thanks to coaches Grant Alderson, Zac Littlewood, Chris Charlwood, Ryan Donaldson, Luke Elliott, Hayden Hunt and Shelley White. #rfbycdinghy #sailinglifeskills #sailingasasportforlife

16.01.2022 Congratulations Hayden Hunt, winner of the Australian Sailing WA "Instructor of the Year" award. Hayden has demonstrated exceptional instructing skills from the way he builds relationships with the participants, facilitates learning with ease, promotes good sportsmanship and role models positive behaviour to the Club community. He does this by supporting sailors to grow not only their sailing skills but also life skills including confidence, resilience and decision making. #wasailingawards #togetherwithrfbyc #rfbyclearntosail

15.01.2022 Congratulations to the legend, John Taylor - winner of the Australian Sailing WA, Sports Lifetime Achievement Award. John's 25 year long resume as a Race Officer is extensive with more than 135 significant regattas under his belt. John's experience, expertise and professionalism made him a much sought after RO. He has successfully run World Championships for Tornados, Mirrors, Lasers, 49ers, Stars, Fins and Team racing as well as several events on the World Match Racing T...our. His most recent World Championship was for the Dragon Class in 2019. John's real passion was working on youth regattas, a love that commenced when his own children commenced sailing at RFBYC. John has been the PRO for our ICR regatta since 2004 which has increased in popularity and now regularly sees in excess of 160 youth sailors competing. Through these events, John has enjoyed an excellent rapport with both sailors and the parents alike. John has continually welcomed new people to volunteering with enthusiasm and has played an active role in recruiting and training new volunteers for our Club. It was with great sadness that John announced his retirement earlier this year from officiating and whilst he deserves a well-earned rest, he will be missed. Thank you, John for your enormous contribution to not only RFBYC but to the WA sailing fraternity. This award is truly well deserved. #wasailingawards #togetherwithrfbyc
