25.01.2022 Man charged with numerous offences Pennant Hills About 7:40pm on Sunday 20 June 2021, a 31-year-old man from Wahroonga was sitting on a bus that stopped at the Pennant Hills interchange. This was the last stop on the bus route and the man was informed by the driver that he would need to vacate the bus as the service had been discontinued. The man approached the driver and started to become agitated. He spat in the direction of the driver causing saliva to land on his pants.... The man moved towards the Opal Card reader where he utilised a lighter, ignited a flame and positioned the flame towards the Opal Card reader in attempt to burn the reader. The driver opened the drivers cabin door and exited the bus. The man remained on the bus where he began pressing all the bus controls and sounded the horn. Police arrived and short time later and placed the man under arrest. He was taken to Ryde Police Station where he was fingerprinted and charged. On fingerprinting the man, he became aggressive towards police raising his fists. The man was charged with Assault, Offensive Conduct, Assault Police and Not Comply noticed direction re spitting/coughing. He is now due to appear in Hornsby Local Court on 21 June 2021.

22.01.2022 Ryde PAC urge the community to protect their deliveries Over the last few weeks, there have been several stealing’s of parcels that have been delivered to unit complexes within Meadowbank, Ryde and Macquarie Park. With online shopping thriving due to current Covid-19 situation and with early Christmas shopping as well, there has been a surge in people receiving their shopping wishes by both Post and Couriers. Unfortunately, thieves are intercepting the end customer by stealin...g items left unattended in unit foyers and concierges. Therefore, make sure you are aware when your delivery is expected, and keep track of your order. Do not leave deliveries unattended and consider having the parcels delivered to the Post Office for collection. Also liaise with your strata to see what other security measures that can be taken to reduce the risk of parcel theft, such as building access etc. So, don’t leave your personal items unattended and let a thief spoil your day. Protect your deliveries and keep an eye out for thieves. If you see any suspicious behaviour, make sure you contact your local police.

15.01.2022 A woman has died after her SUV and a bus collided at West Ryde this morning. Emergency services were called to Victoria Road near Falconer Street just before 6.30am (Wednesday 30 June 2021), and found a black SUV, being driven east, and a bus, travelling west, had collided in the westbound lanes. The female driver of the SUV died at the scene.... The male driver of the bus was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for treatment of a minor laceration and mandatory testing. There were no passengers on the bus at the time. Officers from Ryde Police Area Command established a crime scene; however, the Crash Investigation Unit is now on site and will be conducting inquiries. 07.01.2022 SCAM ALERT! We’ve had several reports of scammers calling people from what appear to be trusted NSW Police Force numbers and threatening the call recipients with fines or arrest. These scammers are using technology to make it appear that the calls originate from legitimate police phone numbers; a practice known as ID spoofing. The caller impersonates a NSW Police Force officer and states that the person receiving the call has an outstanding fine or warrant. The scammer demand...s a form of payment to prevent arrest or further court action. The NSW Police Force will never call a member of the public and demand payment over the phone in order to avoid going to court or being arrested. If you get an unexpected call from someone who states they're from the police, and starts asking for personal details or threatens you, please hang up. If you’re concerned, you can always verify by contacting your local police or the Police Assistance Line directly on 131 444. 04.01.2022 Aggravated Robbery Eastwood Just before 2.30am on Wednesday 28 October 2020, emergency services were called to Holway Street, Eastwood, following reports of an injured man. Officers from Ryde Police Area Command arrived to find a 30-year-old man, suffering head injuries.... Police have been told the man exited a Toyota Aurion in nearby Ward Street, before he was approached by three males and assaulted. The trio left in the Toyota Aurion sedan and the man walked to Holway Street where he sought assistance. The man was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for lacerations to the head. A crime scene was established, and officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Anyone with information which might assist is asked to contact Ryde Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns temperatures are generally expected to increase over the weekend. As the weather heats up, motorists are also reminded it’s not only an offence for children or pets to be left unattended in a vehicle, it can be deadly.... Everyone needs to take care in hot weather, but some people are at higher risk of heat illness, especially if they are older, live alone or are socially-isolated. 01.01.2022 Man charged with drug supply after proactive patrols West Ryde About 3.00am on Tuesday 27 October 2020, Police were conducting a patrol of the West Ryde area when they observed a Silver Honda parked with its engine running in Graf Lane, West Ryde. Police travelled a short distance before conducting a U-Turn in order to speak with the driver. During this time, the vehicle had driven off. ... Police caught up to the vehicle before stopping and speaking with the 33-year-old driver from Winston Hills. The driver was submitted to a breath test which returned a negative sample. On speaking with the driver police observed the driver had a small amount of blood coming from his nose. Police conducted further enquiries before submitting the driver, his passenger and the vehicle to a search. Police located 3 small plastic resealable bags within the man’s wallet, 2 of which had remnants of white powder contained within. Police also located a cigarette packet which had 5 plastic resealable bags containing white powder, believed to be Cocaine. The man was arrested and questioned in relation to the drugs where he admitted to police that he had consumed a bag of Cocaine prior to driving his vehicle. The man was taken to Ryde Hospital where blood and urine samples were obtained. The man was then taken to Ryde Police Station where he was charged with Possess Prohibited Drug and Supply Prohibited Drug. He was granted conditional bail and will now appear in Burwood Local Court on 23 November 2020. Police await the analysis result of the blood and urine sample with a charge pertaining to Drive whilst under the Influence of Illicit Drug.
