16.01.2022 With the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Launceston, doctors from West Tamar Health have asked for all patients to take extra care and to be aware of all risk factors surrounding the virus. If you feel you are symptomatic or suspect coronavirus, please DO NOT come into the surgery. We ask that you contact PUBLIC HEALTH on 1800 671 738 for advice. If you are categorised to be at high risk you will be allocated a Patient Identification Number, and then asked to call Launc...eston Pathology who will make an appointment for swab testing between 2-4pm week days (or alternatively you may be advised to present to the LGH for testing after hours). If you have any concerns or questions please phone the surgery on 6327 2947.

02.01.2022 The "Sweet Spot" in adult CPR New research has identified the optimal combination of chest compression rate (CCR) and chest compression depth (CCD) when performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to improve survival rates. A team of researchers analyzed data on more than 3600 patients who had experienced an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and for whom CCR and CCD had been simultaneously recorded.... They found that the optimal CCR-CCD combination was 107 compressions per minute with a depth of 4.7 cm. When CPR was performed within 20% of this value, survival probability was significantly higher. The findings remained unchanged regardless of age, sex, presenting cardiac rhythm, or CPR adjunct use. Read more https://jamanetwork.com//jamacardiology/fullarticle/2747606
