22.01.2022 RIP to an inspirational sailor - Larry Pardey. I had the honour of spending time with Lin a couple of years ago in Port Stephens at the Women Who Sail Australia Gathering where she told us a few wonderful stories of their sailing life together. So many of us around the world have read their inspirational books. A sad day but as Lin says he is now at peace.

21.01.2022 BOOK EXCHANGE! I’m looking for people to participate in a huge book exchange. You can be anywhere in the world. All you have to do is buy your favorite book (just one and you can order/send from online) and send it to a stranger (I'll send their details in a private message). You’ll receive books back to you, to keep. They'll be favorite books from strangers around the world! I have no idea if this will be successful but if anything, someone hopefully will enjoy a book I did too. It’s always fun to get happy mail! Thanks, again, for joining in this book club! Happy Reading!

18.01.2022 Down Under Rally: UPDATE - 28th August 2020 With just 10 weeks to go before the offical start of cyclone season, November 1st, and no cyclone safe havens being made available, such as those in Australia and New Zealand, the situation facing the owners and crews aboard internationally flagged cruising yachts and pleasure vessels that are currently located in the SW pacific is now very much a serious concern. 17.01.2022 Thank you so much to Marine Rescue at Tweed Heads for delivering Brett Carlyle to our new catamaran for the trip home to Coffs Harbour. Such an amazing group of... people. It would have been a very tough sail home for Anais, Kristi and I with out the extra person on rotation for night duty. Kristi Foster See more

15.01.2022 Let me know if you would like a copy. $39.95 plus $10 postage. Lindas PayPal account Go to https://paypal.me/lindaa360, type in the amount, log in to your PayPal account, ... put in your ADDRESS where it says ‘Add a note’ and send! The blurb : ‘Salvage in my Sarong - The Mediterranean Dream in acresued boat’ is a remarkable story of how Linda's husband Bill surprises her (and himself), by winning an online bid for an old wooden boat, half way across the world, in the Caribbean. At first Linda is horrified and reluctant to become involved in her husband's crazy scheme. This sailing boat 'Lati', had been abandoned, ransacked and almost stolen by pirates and is a total mess when the couple arrive from Australia. Linda's dream of sailing the Mediterranean becomes reality as somehow, this gallant 9.4 metre yacht emerges like Cinderella, taking them across the vast Atlantic to Portugal and the Med. For three summers, Lati takes them on a romantic cruise to Italy, Greece and Turkey fitting easily into quaint harbours with tavernas ashore. However, the voyage is not without drama, as they continue with boat repairs in exotic locations, making many friends along the way. From the author of Sailing in my Sarong comes this story of resourcefulness, endurance and celebration in the forging of a strong bond between a couple and their boat, a must-read adventure that makes anything seem possible. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Linda Frylink Anderson is an artist, retired Early Childhood teacher and University tutor. She has been married to Bill aka Captain Underpants since 1977. Together they have two grown up children, three grandchildren and a thirst for adventure. Linda's first book 'Sailing in my Sarong, Around the World - a 30 year dream' is a memoir of their circumnavigation of the world in their home built yacht 'Valiam'. Linda still likes to wear sarongs, and these days she escapes the world to her bush studio in northern New South Wales or she may be on board Valiam in Mooloolaba, Queensland if not at sea.

15.01.2022 SAILING IN MY SARONG, Around the World - a 30 year dream Linda and Bill Anderson are living proof that it's never too late to fulfil your dream. After 30 years of fantasising about sailing around the world, they finally set sail on an action packed voyage that would take two years to complete. Never mind that Linda suffered from sea sickness, was petrified of storms and had little sailing experience, or that the couple were to make the trip in their home built yacht, this 3...0,000-nautical-mile voyage was about achieving their dream. While they gained so much from their adventure, Bill and Linda also gave a lot back to the places they visited - working with street children, running art and play workshops with Linda's vibrant photos and artwork filling the pages of this book. It's a story of battling gales and sailing through the world's pirate hot spots; of exploring exotic and remote communities and integrating with the locals; and of experiencing the vastness of the great oceans and making new friends at each destination. But above all, the story is one of overcoming a challenge of massive proportions and leaving a small part of themselves in every single one of the 30 countries Linda and Bill visited in their swift, yet tough yacht Valiam. This is their story. $39.95 plus postage. #ilukaemporium www.valiam.com.au

14.01.2022 Good Morning from Mooloolaba Marina. Such a beautiful day with a gentle breeze blowing and the sound of the ocean.

14.01.2022 Valiam is out of the water ready to receive much needed TLC. Thanks to Kieran at Laurie’s Boatyard Kawana Waters Sunshine Coast Qld. We launched Valiam here in 1994 and it’s the only boatyard we use in Australia. Valiam is 13.7m (45ft), 2.1m keel, 4.2m beam. Highly recommend these guys. To reach Laurie’s with a deep draft you go up the canal at high tide. #lauriesboatservice #lawriesboatyard #lawriesboatservices

13.01.2022 Valiam being hauled out at Laurie’s Boatyard, Kawana, Sunshine Coast. Can’t believe it’s 5 years since she’s had her bottom antifouked and it’s not too bad at all! #lawriesboatyard #kawanawaters

The blurb: Linda’s most recent book ‘Salvage in my Sarong, The Mediterranean dream in a rescued boat,’ tells the remarkable story of how Captain Underpants surprises her (and himself), by winning an online bid for a wreck of a boat in the Caribbean. "Lati" had been abandoned, ransacked and almost stolen by pirates. Eventually a romantic cruise through the Mediterranean to the Greek islands became a reality. Linda still likes to wear sarongs, and loves nothing more than sharing her passion for art and travel, encouraging and motivating others to live their own dreams. 08.01.2022 Look how shiny Valiam is! When you choose a hull colour that isn’t white, the chalky residue shows after a time. We love her turquoise! #sailinginmysarong #lawriesboatservices

07.01.2022 ‘NAKAA’S AWAKENING Land of Matang’ is a fascinating read. Stacey King has captured the essence of the life of the Banabans living and working with the expatriot people on Ocean Island, Fiji. I was riveted all the way through and did not want the book to end. I’m so pleased there are sequels coming. I want to know what happens to all the characters as the story was made especially interesting as many are Stacey’s relatives. Well researched and passionately written obviously ...showing the authors sensitive and deep understanding of the life lived at the time.I learned so much about the challenges of phosphate mining and the impact on the locals. Beautifully told and as a sailor myself, as well as having lived in a remote community in Papua New Guinea I could identify with the life. Stacey has indeed left an enduring legacy to the Banaban people. This is a story that will appeal to everyone. It has it all. History, romance, drama, and an exotic location. Escapism at its best and made even more appealing in that it is based on a true story. I might just have to read it again while I wait for the sequel. Linda Frylink Anderson #banaban #staceyking

01.01.2022 So many wonderful memories coming up on fb today

01.01.2022 Earlier this week, a ‘MayDay’ distress call was received from Solar Coaster, an 11.5m yacht, which had been de-masted about 100nm west of Lord Howe Island. Mari...ne Area Command - NSW Police Force and Australian Maritime Safety Authority - AMSA launched a joint search and rescue (SAR) operation to locate the yacht and safely return the men onboard back to shore. AMSA launched a Challenger jet to drop fuel, supplies, and a satellite phone, which enabled contact between the SAR crews and the yachtsmen, before the Marine Area Command launched a police vessel to head some 200nm out to sea. Despite facing some unfavourable weather and sea conditions which at times restricted their speed to just 4kn both vessels arrived safety at Nelson Bay about 10.30am today (Saturday 14 November 2020). After five days at sea, the fatigued men were reunited with family members shortly after docking at Port Stephens Water Police.
