22.01.2022 Friday 16th BEYOND THE BLACK RAINBOW 2010 Dir: Panos Cosmatos... This one's for you all young lovers out there that might've just caught up with MANDY or fallen in love over STRANGER THINGS. With his debut, Cosmatos shows not just his obvious love for genre films, but an understanding that goes above and beyond -- reducing elements to their core while at the same time building emotionally on tropes which are not often explored. If MANDY was the new answer to '70s shlock horror, then BEYOND THE BLACK RAINBOW is the new answer to '60s-'70s science fiction. See it if you love triangles.

16.01.2022 To-morrow! Saturday 17th THEY LIVE Dir: John Carpenter In this day and age it's hard to imagine a time when you could look at the TV and NOT see a lizard-skeletor man pretending to be human in order to run the country.... So let's journey back to a simpler time when it was almost a novelty to pretend that corporations and the government were working together to keep us poor, dumb and dead. THEY LIVE also boasts one of the longest, most ridiculous fisticuffs ever put to film. You've gotta see it to believe - but put on your Ray Bans first.

06.01.2022 TOMORROW! SAT'DAY 10th THE - WICKER - MAN (1973)(sorry all you Cage-heads)... While the folk-horror genre had arguably been popularised in earlier films like WITCHFINDER GENERAL or even back to HAXAN and VIY, THE WICKER MAN is definitely responsible for popularising many of the tropes that still show up constantly in modern horror. You've got your weird townsfolk, strange sigils and portents, bad fashion, wicker men... If the final scene doesn't make you distrust mysterious islands inhabited by cults, then nothing will.

05.01.2022 We've heard that 'Silence's Crescendo' is like 'Eraserhead' on speed. If that doesn't pique your interest, I'm not sure what will!! FRIDAY doors from 6pm Intro from director and screening at 7:30pm TIX AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR or via the Eventbrite link- Message us to reserve a seat.... 05.01.2022 THURSDAY (tomorrow) 8th 7:30 'The Act Of Killing' (2012) Joshua Oppenheimer Truly a film that has to be seen to be believed, as Oppenheimer manages to alter the landscape of documentary films forever -- if not filmmaking entirely.... Beginning as a project interviewing the survivors of the mass killings in Indonesia through the mid '60s, Oppenheimer found himself meeting the very perpetrators of the murders. In a revolutionary act, he convinced them not only to speak candidly about the acts they'd committed, but to go as far as recreate them on camera. The members of these death squads remain protected by Indonesian government to this day, so much so that many of the crew of this film chose to remain uncredited for fear of retribution against them.

03.01.2022 ~A spooky line up

03.01.2022 Need a mid week pick me up? S&V is slinging drinks from 5 til late. Tell yr mates <3

02.01.2022 Saturday 3rd 7:30 'THE TRIAL' (1962) Dir. Orson Welles An underrated number in Orson Welles oeuvre, it manages to capture the comedy and the infuriating futility of Kafka's source material. It's the feeling that everyone gets when they're on hold with Centrelink... --and it has Anthony goddamn Perkins in it!

01.01.2022 HOO WEEE hoes that for an end of week special? SEE YOU TONIGHT FROM 5:30

01.01.2022 SAIDIN IN THE HOUSE! Come down from 7 to meet him and see his screenings. He's wild, you'll love him I promise!

01.01.2022 SATURDAY 20th 7:30pm 'Snowtown' (2011) Dir. Justin Kurzel The harrowing story behind one of the most horrific crimes in South Australian history, handled with a levity and style that sets it aside from other "true life" accounts of serial killers. ... Kurzel steers away from exploitative gore and mayhem - for the most part - opting instead to delve into the makings of a murderer, set against the eerie and bleak background of rundown Northern suburbs. There's no thrills or jump scares here, just the depressing truth.
