22.01.2022 Three beautiful Louis Begin long Marais bows in stock for bass viol. I love the sweep of the long tips - so graceful. And they sound good too of course.

21.01.2022 More bows have arrived from Louis Begin. Here are two baroque cello bows in stock right now. More are on the way. The Marais bass viol bow that also arrived yesterday is already out on approval.

20.01.2022 To compliment Rosalind Halton's recent first edition of Colombani's Dimmi, ingrato Mirtillo, Saraband Music has now published a companion cantata: Fra le Rose. This one has an obbligato violin part as well as a cello part. Available now. Both cantatas come with two scores and instrumental parts. Please visit https://www.saraband.com.au/vocals.htm where you'll find a sample page.

18.01.2022 New cover photo showing two packs of Saraband Music greeting cards. There's a whole gallery at https://www.saraband.com.au/cards.htm Blank inside, can be used at any time for whatever you need. Saraband logo on the back. In this photo you can see Bonne belle, a lovesong from the 1400s (note the little heart there), and on the right, a scene from the Commedia dell'arte. Sets of 5 available, or custom made to your requirements.

16.01.2022 Here's the good news. I got a shipment of Toro strings today (Easter Monday). The bad news is that France has just gone back into hard lockdown so I can't get any more La Folia strings until they come out of that at "non-essential" shops (should music shops be essential???) can reopen. Then I'll need to wait the month for my order to arrive, assuming they have stock for me in the first place.

15.01.2022 Two new editions available right now from Saraband Music. SM169 - Songs from Guillaume de Machaut arranged for bass recorder (or bass viol - great extra repertoire all in first position), and another tenor viol book, with a variety of mediaeval music. Anon, trouveres and minnesingers, Dufay, Binchois and some Machaut. All in alto clef. Sample pages will soon be on the Saraband Music website at www.saraband.com.au And right behind these are two cantatas by Quirino Colombani, e...dited by Rosalind Halton. Dimmi, ingrato Mirtillo is for soprano, obbligato cello and basso continuo. Fra le Rose is for obbligato violin and cello, soprano and continuo. Neither contain a realisation. Available next week. Score and parts. If you'd like a listing of all of Saraband Music's editions for viols, recorders, ensembles and other instruments, please message Patrice with your email. If you don't get a reply, your message didn't get through.

14.01.2022 Did it! Third edition out this week. Printed and you can order right now. A treat for treble viol players in all three editions, and bass viol in two, but tenors can still play in the Farmer madrigals! And there's nothing to stop enterprising teachers taking my treble viol editions and using them for violin. The vast majority of pieces will fit, just as the majority of pieces for tenor viol from my catalogue will fit viola. And my bass recorder books (6 solo, 2 duet) fit bass viol perfectly. I try to think outside any quadrilinear object. If anyone would like the updated Saraband Editions catalogue, please email or message me. I'm getting close to 200 of my green and white books, and with everything I've published over the years it's over 275 editions.

12.01.2022 Finally ... Ordered in January, posted in February by priority from Germany. BUT it looks like they went sea mail and arrived only today. So much for priority ... but at least I have violin e strings again.

11.01.2022 Finished and in print right now. Rosalind Halton's edition of a rare cantata with a great cello obbligato. 2 full scores (one singer, one continuo), plus the obbligato part and the continuo cello part. A$19.80 (inc GST). Order yours now! Its companion cantata Fra le Rose, with violin and cello obbligati is not far behind it.

08.01.2022 Two down, one to go. Three new editions (almost) ready for customers. That's one reason I've been silent here for a while. SM174 and 176 are printed as of this morning. SM175 is almost ready to print. I just have to write the intro and do a little tidying and the printer will be working overtime again. SM175 is another book for solo treble viol.

07.01.2022 More wonderful bows from Louis Bégin in Canada have arrived. This is a beautiful reeded and fluted light (54g) tenor viol bow. Click on the photos for a better view. I love the decoration part way down the bow. Available now, along with 2 baroque violin bows, 1 baroque viola bow and 1 bass viol bow in stock. The baroque cello bow is spoken for, but more are on the way.

04.01.2022 The good news is: strings are coming in. Aquila is on the way, La Folia has just got here, Kurschner and Universale are on order and I've recently received Toro. All my usual brands are in stock and able to supply!!!

04.01.2022 Lots of fun very early this Sunday morning when I got online in the Vendor Zoom sessions for Boston Early Music Festival. It was 4.30pm Saturday in Boston and 6.30am Sunday here. I was able to show my new editions and Saraband's own greeting cards to new and old friends. We had a lovely chat. I'm open to private Zoom sessions for customers who want to see my cards or editions or other products. Just check out www.saraband.com.au if you haven't already done so.
