25.01.2022 Junior pennants gets under way at Hills today. Very fortunate with the weather as it wasn't looking too good earlier on today. Matches are Hills V Redland Bay, Meadowbrook v Mt Warren and Windaroo V Carbrook. Some impressive "Actions" off the first tee.

25.01.2022 Sorry - no photos this week - our intrepid photographer had a week off !! More great golf though from all competitors in Round 4 of the SEQDGA Junior League. Well done again to all our caddies who support the kids as they get around each course. Many thanks also to Dave Delahunty, Nick Rogers and all the team at Mt Warren Park for hosting. It continues to be close at the top of the ladder. Results at the end of Round 4 are as follows - Mt Warren Park 69.5, Redland Bay 63.5, Meadowbrook 63.5, Tamborine 50, Windaroo 42.5 and Carbrook 35. Only two weeks to go - keep up the great work kids !!

25.01.2022 The SEQDGA was saddened to hear of the recent passing of John Ford. John was the District's second President and contributed greatly to the District's development in its earliest years. John was also a long time member of Windaroo Lakes Golf Club. At its most recent committee meeting the SEQDGA formally acknowledged John's significant contribution to the game. Our thoughts are with members of John's family at this time.

25.01.2022 Second last round of SEQDGA Junior League was held yesterday at Windaroo Lakes. Many thanks to Stephen and Janine from Windaroo pro shop for their support, to David D from SEQDGA for running the afternoon and to Terena for shooting some great photos. It was a lovely afternoon for golf. Windaroo was a challenge for the juniors with some tough water carries. At the end of the day Tamborine fought hard but lost 3-0 to Redland Bay. Likewise Carbrook were competitive in each match but went down 3-0 to Windaroo. The last match was a real battle but Meadowbrook prevailed 2.5 to 0.5. Next week we head to Redland Bay for our last match of the season - hopefully the weather is better than last year !! Presentations to all teams will follow conclusion of the last match.

25.01.2022 Don't forget to get in quick and register for the SEQDGA Open to be held at Beaudesert GC in a fortnight. Details can be found at: https://www.golfgenius.com/pages/6408818965694403516

24.01.2022 Round 3 of the Junior League teams event took us to Meadowbrook today. Thanks to Chris B and his colleagues at the club for all your assistance. It was pretty windy today and we saw some tricky pin placements that made life tough for the kids. We still saw some great rounds. Home team Meadowbrook got up 2-1 in a hard fought match against Windaroo. Mt Warren were also victorious 2-1 against Redland Bay. In the last match Tamborine got up 2-1 against Carbrook. After three rounds Mt Warren and Meadowbrook share the top spot on the table. Next week we travel to Tamborine for round 4. Stay tuned for more results !!

24.01.2022 Former SEQDGA representative and Hills pennant player, Anthony Quayle, won the Queensland Open today at Pelican Waters. He shot rounds of 67,69,67,70 for a total of 273 (-15) to force a playoff with amateur Jack Thompson. Thompson had a chance to win outright on the 72nd hole with a 5 meter putt which just slid by. Anthony won the first playoff hole to clinch his first tournament win as a professional with a rock solid par. I recall a memorable match with Ricky Gunzler at Mt ...Warren where Ricky squared Anthony which ultimately won the pennant for Mt Warren that year. Anthony has come a long way since then but the SEQDGA pennants was part of the learning curve for him and we should be proud that we have contributed to Anthony's craft as a player by staging these events in our District. Congratulations Anthony, the SEQDGA are proud of your victory. See more

22.01.2022 Round 3 saw our Junior League teams travel up to Tamborine Mountain today. Many thanks to Nev H for hosting and going the extra mile so parents could access extra carts on what proved to be a very hot day. Golf from our juniors was sensational again with some long putts and chips being holed much to the delight of both the kids and parents !! In the first match Mt Warren and Windaroo battled it out all day for a draw. In match 2 Redland Bay were too good for Carbrook while in... the final match Meadowbrook had a solid win over the home team Tamborine. It has been great to see the way all the kids have been enjoying their golf and building friendships with their teammates and players from other clubs. With two weeks to go Meadowbrook have taken a one point lead on the table followed by Mt Warren and Windaroo. We move to Windaroo next week for round 5. See more

21.01.2022 Windaroo Lakes Golf Club welcomed players from around Queensland for day one of the 2019 Men's Inter Association event. There was some great golf played over two rounds. By the close of play Gold Coast, Central Queensland and South East Queensland districts occupied the top three places but there is plenty of golf still to be played tomorrow. Many thanks to Jared Love and the team at Windaroo Lakes and also to Dieter, Darren, Adrian, Simon and Jim from the SEQ District Committee for all their hard work in making the day a great success. 20.01.2022 Former SEQDGA Rep and Foursomes Champion, Naoki Sekito, won on the Japan Tour today. In the 36 hole tournament, he shot rounds of 65,61 (14 under) to win by 1 shot from Shotaro WADA. He won 3 times in Asia in 2019 and had a 2nd on the Asian Tour this year before Covid ended play. This is the first event back in Japan and what a way to start. The SEQDGA is proud to have played a small part in Naoki’s development as a player.

20.01.2022 Please see below link to the standings for Div 2 pennants after the weekend's fixtures. https://www.golfgenius.com/pages/5941705717240058428 Unfortunately last weeks persistent rain prevented a full round of fixtures again. With more favourable weather forecast this week hopefully affected clubs can recover and host this weekend if need. Clubs that have agreed and swapped home fixtures because of course availability/closures, please ensure you remember this for the return fix...ture. NOTE - Speed of Play, it has been observed during the first few rounds that some players are not adhering to Rule 20. PACE OF PLAY. Captains/Managers, please make all players aware of this rule and out of respect to the host club play at a good pace. This is to ensure you are not loosing your place in the field and hindering other golfers outside of the Pennant fixture being played. HAPPY GOLFING and good luck in this coming weekend's fixtures. 08.01.2022 Dear SEQDGA Clubs, Pennant Managers and Captains, Further to the previous email circulated on 25 March as outlined below, the SEQDGA Board has reached a decision this week to cancel the 2020 SEQDGA Pennant Season due to the impacts caused by the COVID-2019 (coronavirus) pandemic. The SEQDGA Board have decided that all entry fees paid for the 2020 season will be carried forward to the 2021 season for the teams that are nominated for the pennant competition. The SEQDGA Board will provide a refund of fees for clubs who nominate a reduced number of teams for the 2021 pennant season, at the commencement of the 2021 season. I would ask that any further enquiries regarding this decision be directed back via this email account rather than emails, phone calls or text messages to other Board Members, so these can be considered and responded to in a coordinated manner. Regards Adrian Paterson SEQDGA Secretary

08.01.2022 After several months of disruption it was great for some of our juniors to take part in the Junior League Inter-district event today at Bulimba Golf Club. Thanks to all the kids and parents (caddies) for observing COVID safe practices. At the end of the day our team of twelve juniors from six clubs across the SEQ district recorded a hard fought win over the Brisbane district to win the Scott Simons Perpetual Shield. Our team had a lot of fun and demonstrated both awesome skills and exceptional sportsmanship. While all the kids played well, the round of the day was from Jake and Julieanne from Meadowbrook - including a hole in one from Julieanne !! Thanks must also go to Golf Australia for their support of the event and Bulimba GC for hosting.

07.01.2022 Round three of the SEQDGA Junior Pennants was contested today at the Carbrook Golf Club. The course was in beautiful condition and it was a great day to play golf. Many thanks to Tony and Angus for their hospitality. First match today saw home team Carbrook take on Redland Bay. Despite some good golf from Carbrook Redland Bay kept up its great form to record a 3-0 win. It was a tighter tussle in the Hills v Meadowbrook game with the match being squared. In the last match Windaroo scored another strong 3-0 win over the boys from Mt Warren. Next week we move to Windaroo for Round 4. With two more rounds before the final Redland Bay leads the table from Meadowbrook with Windaroo just a further half point behind. More results to appear after next weekend's round.

07.01.2022 Hope everyone is looking forward to the SEQDGA 'COVID Cup'. This new concept will be played at Meadowbrook Golf Club on 31st January at 7.00am. Could all captains please confirm with your players the date and arrival time. We would like all players at Meadowbrook for a 7.00am tee off - there will no doubt be plenty of questions about this new format/ District captain Dieter Moeckel will be on the first tee to answer queries and seeing teams off. The draw, match index and rule...s will be in the Pro Shop at Meadowbrook on arrival. Cost will be $45 per player - carts are available at players cost. This is a new event for the SEQDGA - the brainchild of Dieter M. One of the purposes of the event is to spike interest in the upcoming pennant season. There will be a discussion after the event, as to whether it continues and gets bigger and better or dies off as a one off event. In either case it should be a good day of golf !! RULES The format will be a 4 ball teams event - the best stable ford score in your team v the best score in your opponents team. If you and your opponents are halved after 3 holes, the captains pick one player in their team for a 60m pitch off. Nearest the pins wins. That team moves on as the winner - they then wait for the winners of the next group behind and start a fresh 3 hole match play. Winners must play the winners from behind, losers must play the losers from behind, this continues on till the end. Winners tee first. The team that lost plays the losing team from the group behind and starts a fresh 3 hole match play. This format continues until you have lost twice or your team knocks out all other teams. If your team is knocked out please go back to the club, refuel and come back out and support the rest off the matches. Drinks will be on after the golf. Food will be available from the Meadowbrook kitchen. Looking forward to seeing you there !!

06.01.2022 Yesterday afternoon saw the playing of the final round of the 2019 SEQDGA Junior League competition. The match was played at Redland Bay Golf Course - thanks to Chris Cairns and the team at Redland Bay for welcoming us. Unfortunately a large storm cut the afternoon short but not before we saw more great golf from all our juniors. Well done kids for a fantastic season of Junior League and thanks to all our caddies also !!

06.01.2022 It is great to see a player emerge through a good system. Years ago, the SEQDGA created PeeWee pennants which was adopted Nationally into the MyGolf Junior League. Poppy Harrington from Redland Bay played wonderfully at the Katherine Kirk over the last few days shooting a total of 218 (71,74,73) to finish 6th. Poppy started in the PeeWee pennants back in 2013 and has stuck with it and has become a scratch marker. She helped her Redland Bay team win back to back SEQDGA Junior... pennants and now is ready to mix it with the best players in the country. It is gratifying to see her become a champion golfer with the support of Mum and Dad along the way. Another emerging star is Jackson Love (Windaroo Lakes) who also started in PeeWee pennants around the same time. Jackson is also playing off scratch and Dad (Jared) has to pay attention when they play nowadays. Jackson is competing well at the Gary Player Classic this week at Pacific Golf Club. See more

02.01.2022 Dear SEQDGA Clubs, Pennant Managers and Captains, It is with regret but with unwavering consensus that the SEQDGA Board has reached a decision this week to suspend the 2020 SEQDGA Pennant Season, effective immediately. This decision was not made lightly and I am sure every club and participant in this competition would appreciate and realise that this decision has been reached, based upon the advice, information and directions provided by State and Federal authorities in rela...tion to the current COVID-19 pandemic (coronavirus). The SEQDGA may consider the recommencement of the 2020 pennant competition when guidance from State and Federal authorities, recommends that it is safe and sound to do so and the timing of these changes allows sufficient time to complete the competition format, without disrupting other scheduled District and club competitions. I appreciate this decision may be received with disappointment from clubs and players, however the health, safety and well-being of our members and their families must come first at this time. Can I request any further enquiries regarding this decision be directed back via this email account rather than emails, phone calls or text messages to other Board Members, so these can be considered and responded to in a coordinated manner. Regards SEQDGA District Executive Email - [email protected] Image
