03.01.2022 Specialised Textiles Association 2020 AWARD WINNER Serge Ferrari Soltis 502 | Tension Structures Domestic This project by Versatile Structures is absolutely stunning, and it's clear to see why it's award winning! A little bit about the project:... "Half the job is done when working with a quality textile partner. The other half is having the engineering expertise and experience to produce a structure that can withstand high wind speeds, effortlessly pass council approval, and overcome tight installation spaces, which was the case with this project. The owner had three main requests: to provide afternoon shade for his pool, privacy from the surrounding high-rise building and a genius solution to stop having to clean his pool as often, thanks to leaf deposits from a neighbouring gum tree. The Versatile Structures design team devised a genius solution for the shade structure to double-up as a leaf guard and deposit falling leaves back to the yard the tree grows in! This meant that from the time a leaf hit the membrane and started its journey back to the ground, it would simply slide down the membrane and be carried over the fence by the leaf diverter fabric. The Ferrari 502’s highly resilient membrane and flexible composite composition was the perfect solution in this application. Serge Ferrari is a world leader in technical composite fabrics, from lighter Solar Protection products for blinds, awnings and structures like these, through to their more sophisticated Tensile Architecture and Building Façade textiles along with a host of others for a myriad of specialist applications."
