After 3 years of owning Shamata and 7 years in the Pilates Industry I have made the big, exciting decision to change what I am doing and move on to new challenges & adventures. . . Ive been so blessed to work at, manage and then own/direct Shamata Pilates. Its been like a second home for me. I feel so proud to have called it my own and to have owned a Studio space that clients from anywhere and everywhere have wished to attend. . . Not every Studio has clients who travel over 15km to do classes with them. I feel so blessed to have been able to share the Pilates Method with so many wonderful people. Thank you . . . You, my clients, really make Shamata a most wonderful, welcoming and positive place to work. Needless to say, the decision to close has not been easy. However, after listening to my heart I have decided to stay true to who I am as well as who I want to be (what I am working towards little by little everyday). . . They also work the muscles and tendons close to the joints to increase stability. .... . Foot articulations help to move the foot bed and toes. 17.01.2022 Lower Ab Toning. Inhale to prepare. Exhale to engage TA (transverse abdominals) and PF (pelvic floor). Once your core is engaged float one leg at a time to table top. Inhale whilst legs are up.... Exhale to gently take your legs back down, one at a time. Inhale and rest before doing it again. Repeat for 6-8 rounds. 16.01.2022 WORK that CORE! . . In Pilates we attend to the activation, strengthening and stabilising of the deepest layer of abdominals, the Transverse and then work outward from there to create an overall strong and stable core + lower torso. .... . Transverse abdominis looks like a corset. The muscle fibres wrap around the lower torso and cinch the waist supporting your lower back and organs when active. This is one of the first areas of the body youll get taught how to train and tone in a beginner Pilates class. . . On the sides of the torso are the Obliques (Internal + External). These diagonal reaching muscles are active when you twist and rotate the torso or flex to the side. . . Above these layers sits Rectus Abdominis which is your Six Pack muscle. It spans the lower half of your torso originating from the Pubic Bone and attaches to the bottom of the Sternum. It function is forward flexion. Its the muscle thats lifting my chest off the floor in this Chest Float exercise series Im demonstrating in this video here. . . Working the abdominals is a must in almost every Pilates class. At Shamata Pilates, whether youre participating in a Relax, Detox or Challenge Class, at some point youll feel a deep ache through the lower core. . . 01.01.2022 Weekend Shoulder Workout . . Grab a stretch band and youre good to go! .... . Hold the stretch band with hands shoulder width apart (if you would like to work with less pressure just have a bit more band between the hands). You need to keep your shoulders down throughout the whole series here so make sure you keep thinking about them dropping away from your ears . . . Start with your arms down (palms face back). Arm workout set: 4x slow stretch + release 4x pulse 4 count hold 4x pulse Then shift arms in front of chest (palms face down) and repeat the workout set. Finish with arms over head (palms face forward) and repeat the workout set. . . Roll through shoulders to release. . . If you want a heavier workout add 2-4reps on the stretch + release and pulses. You could also repeat the whole series 2-3 more times. . . Enjoy sculpting your shoulders . .
