23.01.2022 Been Travelling around Sharpening and finding more and more cowboys. One whole salon so called sharpened each scissor rubbish, took me nearly 3 hours to fix all of them up like New ! Interestingly enough the sharpener failed to come back after umpteen calls over 2 months. Amazing to see all the girls liking their scissors again, and to see trhem actually cutting and slicing... makes me feel good that at least I am doing a Pro Job! maybe that should be my name Geta Pro Job not a Pro Blem

19.01.2022 just finished building new multi machine for sharpening knives etc. A bit of tweeking and all going fine... shock of shock. Now the next stage adding water to cool the blades just like we sharpen the hair scissors .. great for NOT affecting the integrity of the steel

18.01.2022 Question for Hairdressers If a sharpen costs $45 and another is say $55 which is cheaper Answer: If the $45 one is a dry sharpen it will hold its edge for about 60 days before slowly losing sharpness. Therefore will need resharpening in 90 days. ... The $55 sharpen if done by Japanese wet sharpening technique will hold its edge to 7-12 months. Do the maths! $55 is alot cheaper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We ONLY sharpen WET!

13.01.2022 Modify modify,modify. Interesting part of human nature we build something thinkingits great, then we tweak to get better. My new sharpener is now on prototype 3 with it now being 25 mmm lower in height and as of last night 300mm less in depth..e.g less space to take up in my wee truck..called Pedro the white donkey.. he may be slow but he always gets there!

10.01.2022 The Questions you should ask or know when buying scissors What steel are they made of 4cr, 9cr or 440c or combo high grade metals ? Are they made as a 2 piece welded versus a cast one piece.. do you know the difference and advantages ? What is the cutting angle of the scissors? ... how do the angles affect my cutting techniques? How do various handles affect my body e.g RSI etc Does colouring scissors e.g purple/pink affect the steel of your scissors? What handle style is best suited for YOU ? e.g parallels, offsets, ergo offsets, cranks offsets, single and double swivels? What scissors length is suitable for my hands ? Know the answers GREAT! if not ask somebody that knows the FACTS !

01.01.2022 The differences in getting your Scissors sharpened I find my hairdressers will get a "Cowboy" to sharpen their scissors because of price and they invariably pay for it big time in the future. A while ago a client of mine was upset that her scissors had been ruined by the above. 6 inch scissors with 11 different angles along each blade. Surprisingly she was complaining that it did not cut at all.... I said I could fix however, she had her doubts. 1 hour later I returned them, was promptly told to sit down while she tried the scissors out on my hair.. the comment was "you have just done yourself out of a sale as these are cutting better than when purchased new. My reply was " I know as there is a huge different in hand machined versus computer machined." Moral of the story .. you get what you pay for !
