22.04.2022 MOMS! IT IS TIME TO STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHER MOMS! You are amazing and unique in your way and to your bub you are THE PERFECT mum!

16.04.2022 These two precious boys are James and Fraser. I walked a wonderful journey with their mom and we worked together when they were both 4 months old. James, their toddler, will just take his comforter, march upstairs and put himself down for a nap and when crisis hit and their grandparents had to step in, they could easily get both boys sleeping so these little boys could be well rested to keep them busy the rest of the time. What an amazing family to know and be part of each other’s journeys.

29.03.2022 Without naps babies become overtired and this will affect their mood and can cause behavioural issues. Here is a link to the rest of the article I wrote on THE IMPORTANCE OF NAPS https://slumberbaby.com.au/about-me/my-blog/

12.03.2022 This is why I love what I do, because it has meaning and to that one family, it will always be remembered in a positive way. Thanks so much for this review. It was such a pleasure working with you Danie. ... MORE REVIEWS UNDER 'REVIEWS' ON MY PAGE. See more

01.03.2022 ROUTINE IS IT IMPORTANT? Sleep specialists worldwide highlight the importance of establishing good sleeping habits and bedtime and nap time routines for babies from as young as 3-6 weeks old. According to Dr. Richard Ferber, associate professor of neurology and director of the Centre for Paediatric Sleep Disorders in Boston, our biological rhythms work best when it is controlled by regular and predictable daily signals such as regular feeding and sleeping times and established routines.

24.01.2022 If you are new to my page, I would love to introduce myself to you: I am Lizl Curia and I am a gentle sleep consultant and child and family nurse with 21 years experience working with babies. I have helped so many families gain hours more sleep and exactly that is my passion, not to help families get more sleep, but to help families I look at each individual case separately and because I have nursing experience, I look at all other health factors that might affect our plan such as reflux and weight to name a few, and then adjust the plan according to your little one's needs.

22.01.2022 TUMMY TIME MAGIC

22.01.2022 A good wind down routine is very important. This will help your child transition from awake/play to sleeping. Start your wind down routine about 10 minutes before baby is due for a nap and around 30 60 minutes before bedtime. A wind down routine done repeatedly over time will teach your baby that it is sleeping time and transitioning to sleep will be easier. ... So a nice warm bath, relaxing music, and a song you sing over again can all prepare them for bed time. Although I am referring to your baby or toddler here, dont forget yourself. Take a long bath and play some relaxing music. You have to look after yourself too mummies (and daddies).

21.01.2022 The AAP (American Academy of Peadiatrics) advises NO blankets in bed until your baby is at least 12 months old, but I would strongly recommend waiting even longer. All they need is tight swaddle done CORRECTLY and once your baby is rolling give sleep sacks a try, they are really amazing if you are mindful of your baby getting cold. Make sure it is the correct size and always remember your babys safety comes first regardless of any advice you might get from parents or friends.

20.01.2022 Hands up if your baby slept so well and then they got to the 4 month mark. They take all your my baby sleeps wonderfully bragging-rights away. Babies (from around 16 weeks) have shorter sleep cycles of around 45-50 minutes each during the day and 2-4 hours during the night. It is not uncommon for your little one to become a catnapper at this age and waking every 2-4 hours at night. This becomes evident if a child hasnt learnt to link his/her sleep cycles and has bec...ome reliant on sleep associations that requires a parents help. So we work to gently break those associations away and teaching them to fall asleep without being dependent on sleep associations like feeding or rocking them back to sleep.

19.01.2022 Insufficient sleep has a negative effect on your attention span, behaviour, mood and quality of life. Besides your bub needing good rest moms and dads, you really need some sleep too.

19.01.2022 I love this article How babies sleep is a combination of nature and nurture . As parents we want to do everything for our children, but it is important to allow our children the space to figure things out and to trust their ability to learn new skills. https://www.janetlansbury.com//4-eye-opening-things-scien/

16.01.2022 Lets Discuss the big elephant in the room when it comes to sleep training: The CIO or Cry it Out method. I dont think any parent likes hearing their baby cry and even though this method might have been very successful for some families it might be too stressful for others. The good news is there are more gentle ways of teaching your little one to fall asleep by themselves. The process might not be fuss free because those little people get a little frustrated with t...hese new changes, but what I have found in all my cases, is that parents feel more confident if they have my support along the way and can ask as many questions as they want through the process. I also give you the plan to review before we start and can adjust it along the way. Most parents are reluctant to start because of this reason, but once we get started and get through the process, all of them are so grateful they did and surprised how much less crying there was than what they anticipated.

16.01.2022 A Lovey. YES or NO and WHEN? A lovey or a cuddly such as soft toy, a little security blanket or anything your child can get attached to is a great way to offer extra comfort to your little one. A lovey is appropriate from around 8 months and older and your child may take a while to get used to a Lovey. Include it in your bedtime routine when reading stories and in activities during the day too. ... You can also wear lovey inside your clothes so the lovey can absorb your smell. Before 6 months old a child probably wont have much interest in a lovey, but it is still good to have them around, but refrain from letting them sleep with it. Before you know it, you will be willing to place a reward if you ever had to lose their lovey. They really become irreplaceable. Oh and this photos is totally just for cuteness!

13.01.2022 This is such a good article. https://www.babysleepsite.com//sleep-training-5-reasons-s/ I love reason 4: There are many ways to help your child learn to sleep which means there is a sleep training method that will work for you.... I follow a gentle approach along with knowing your baby/toddlers medical history, feeding schedule and many other factors as this does play a vital role in the plan I work out for your family.

13.01.2022 Here is some good news for the day Most families that have sleep trained their babies with me have reported much less crying than they feared. One of the best parts of my job is seeing how a familys situation turns and how happy everyone is with a more sleep and less anxiety about sleep. ... Let me know what is your experience with gentle sleep training.

13.01.2022 I love this! Yes breastfeeding is healthy for your baby, but so is your babys mothers mental health. Whether you breastfeed or bottle feed, have a cesarean section or a natural birth, choose to sleep train or not, do what is right for you and your baby. ... Thank you for sharing your experience Sarah

13.01.2022 Here are a few TIPS for helping Baby sleep better. - Day time is feed time, night time is sleep time. Encourage your baby to feed in the day so that they start understanding the difference between day and night. - Dont respond to the slightest peep. Now this is a hard one for most parents, especially first time parents, but babies naturally wake up through the night so just give them a moment before responding to them which will also give you time to make sure they are r...eally crying and not just making noises in their sleep. They might even surprise you and fall asleep by themselves again. - Set a good night time routine with an early bed time. A warm bath and relaxing, low light, low noise environment will teach your baby to gear up for what is coming and help them relax. An early bed time will avoid your baby getting over tired. - It is important to help your baby learn the difference between day and night by letting daylight shine in in the morning and going outside during awake time if possible and at night keep the environment dark and quiet. Hope this helps some parents. Please feel free to PM me at any time with questions or if you would like to have a 10min chat to see if I can help your family.

09.01.2022 Keep that teeny little bub close. They need it so much to give them the foundation to grow emotionally, physically and intellectually

09.01.2022 SLEEP IS GOOD FOR BABY A series of sleep studies have reported a positive association between sleep and overall cognitive development, including memory, language, and executive function and that poor sleep can have a negative effect on cognitive development. It is important to know that sleep is so important for you baby or child and that sleep training is not a selfish act of you wanting to sleep more (which by the way is also necessary for your wellbeing and health), but it is something you are doing for your little person.

08.01.2022 I loved this article and massive credit to the sleep consultant that wrote it as it clears up MANY misconceptions about sleep training. To sum it up: - No one sleeps through the night. We all wake up, we have just learned how to go back to sleep by ourselves. - Sleep training does not mean we do not allow night time feedings... - Sleep Consultants dont invade your space all night. Most of my consultations are done via phone/online - Sleep training does not mean you let your baby cry all night. - Newborns cannot follow a rigid sleep pattern. - Good sleep routine are not about harsh rules and a good sleep consultant should be prepared to make adjustments if the parents feel uncomfortable with recommendations. https://www.mother.ly//sleeping-through-the-night-is-a-mis

08.01.2022 A baby massage can soothe your baby, which can calm him/her and help him/her to sleep. It also helps with digestion, improving circulation and even ease teething pains, but the most valuable benefit is that you and your partner get to bond with your baby. Make sure you make eye contact often and follow your babys mood. Who else wish they could get a massage daily?

07.01.2022 What is a good age for sleep training? In most cases, I would not advise training a new born baby or baby younger than 4 months. This is when your baby needs lots of comfort, plenty feeds and at this age they are not always cognitively capable of falling asleep by themselves and even if they do, they are usually not able to sustain a schedule. Before 4 months is also the most common time for babies to suffer from gas and reflux so they often need your assistance. I have found that 4-6month is the best window to sleeptrain your baby, but most parents contact me long after that period and we have always been successful. I also help with toddlers and each stage and child will need a customised plan that will yield the best results in the unique circumstances.

06.01.2022 REVIEWS: All previous clients and current clients, you can now review me on google with the link below. I would really appreciate a review on google as I am currently experiencing issues with Facebook reviews. Some of my reviews are not showing at all and some old ones have disappeared. I really rely on reviews and referrals for business. Thank you!

05.01.2022 ASK ME ANYTHING? I would love to introduce myself again. I am Lizl Curia and I am a gentle sleep consultant and child and family nurse and Ive been working with babies for 21 years. I would like to give you this opportunity to ask me ANYTHING baby and toddler sleep related.

05.01.2022 I once heard a mom say: 'Babies are so easy while they are in your belly. You drink a multivitamin in the morning and they are good to go.' This is very true, but also the reason little people find it so hard to adjust to the outside world. It is not warm, snug, dark anymore and now they cant hear moms constant comforting heartbeat, but as they grow a little older, they get used to their new world and you can help them set healthy sleeping habits along the way.

05.01.2022 Sleep can really stress parents out. I get it, I was a mom of babies and toddlers too, but it is so important to always keep your sense of humour and dont get too bogged down with things that dont matter. Avoid unnecessary power struggles. If your child wants to sleep in her pink tutu or superhero outfit, it really doesnt matter. Keep your focus on important things such as healthy sleep, healthy nutrition and being kind.

05.01.2022 THE IMPORTANCE OF SLEEP http://slumberbaby.com.au/the-importance-of-sleep/ This is an article I wrote a while ago. I cant stress enough that Sleep is a biological need. It is not a luxury or a selfish want.... This is important for every member of the family.

03.01.2022 A sleeping baby is not only for the babys benefit, but for the whole family. So often, I have moms, dads and their toddler and/or older kids suffering from lack of sleep or the affects it has on a family. If you and your partner is not well rested, this can affect how you manage lifes challenges and how you deal with a toddler and the needs and emotions of older kids. It is not always a walk in the park. ... If this sounds all too familiar, I would love to have a chat with you, but most importantly, keep your chins up moms and dads and dont be too hard on yourselves

02.01.2022 LAUGH + SLEEP = BEST CURE Sleep is not a sacrifice or something you have to live without when you have children, all they need is a little 'training' and everyone will sleep and feel better, which will result in more laughs in which case, according to the Irish, is the best cure for everything You've got to love the Irish

01.01.2022 You are so excited that your little one has turned one. What a big milestone! What you have not considered is the dreaded 12 month sleep regression There is good news though, it usually passes. It is however very important to be consistent in this time. If you make too many changes to accommodate your little one to sleep they will start depending on those changes.
