25.01.2022 Afternoon tea in the garden. Gifted oranges from a neighbour used in our home made Jaffa Cakes and the kids’ mud pies.

23.01.2022 The best food doesn’t come from expensive restaurants, it’s grown in your own backyard. A simple side of chicory greens with garlic. Amazing.

12.01.2022 Grew a cauliflower. Pickled a cauliflower. . . . .... . Recipe: 250ml White Wine Vinegar 250ml Water 50gm Sugar 1 Tablespoon Salt 1 Teaspoon Pickling Spices (mixture of allspice whole, black peppercorns, mustard seeds, dill seeds) 1 Bay Leaf 2 garlic cloves - unpeeled and chopped in half Heat vinegar, water, sugar and salt in a pot until sugar and salt dissolve. Put cut and washed cauliflower in a clean, sterilised jar with pickling spices, bay leaf and garlic. Pour liquid over, ensuring cauliflower is completely covered. Put on lid and store in refrigerator. Wait 2 weeks before eating.

09.01.2022 Radishes are always growing somewhere in our garden - as a catch crop between our summer and winter plantings and in the spare little places in our patch between other veggies. Great for novice gardeners as they’re easy to grow all year round and only take about four weeks from seed to harvest. Just slice into a salad with your meal and you’ve just added some extra organic veg to your diet. How easy was that!

09.01.2022 At our house snow peas rarely make it from the garden to the kitchen (devoured first by kids who pick them and eat them straight off the vine) but more plants this year means there’s some left over for the grown ups
