It's a conversation I had recently with one of my students who was applying my co-living strategy to create affordable housing. She wondered whether she could help the community more by charging under market rent for the affordable housing she was creating. . My answer was this; if... you charge a reasonable rent, that is still affordable for your tenants (meet demand with supply) and end up with more money than you need, then use those funds to create even more affordable housing. After 10 years you'll have created more affordable homes and helped more tenants. .
