25.01.2022 That Patch was probably the earliest one I remember. It was amazing. One of the classic venues that packed ‘em in like sardines. Rick Brewster (The Angels). Photo: The Angels at Fisherman's Wharf (1991) by Barry O'Callaghan.

19.01.2022 "Without being nostalgic it was a remarkable era," says Peter Garrett. "I'm convinced that one reason AC/DC, us, and INXS broke through overseas was because we cut our teeth night after night in venues like these across the country."

10.01.2022 "When we started out we caught the tail end of the punk scene, and we could play all the time. It was ludicrous, the amount of gigs we could play in one year. It just doesn't happen anymore." Peter Blackie (Hard-Ons - Official). Photo: Tracy King (via I remember the Playroom).

03.01.2022 In 1978, having custom-built a designated venue for live music with the best in sound, lighting and fittings, Bombay Rock threw open its doors. Men At Work played on the opening night, with guests in attendance including Ian ‘Molly’ Meldrum. We could have bands playing in there at 120 decibels and you couldn’t hear a thing outside, recalls owner Peter George. We put foam on the walls and when we put the carpet in we put the carpet on the walls too and there was no noise o...utside at all. 01.01.2022 My favourite venue on the Gold Coast ever was the Jet Club. I had heard a lot about it before even playing there. All the Sydney bands would return from the Gold Coast saying wait until you play the Jet Club and sure enough when we first played there it lived up to all expectations. Steve Kilbey, The Church.
