19.01.2022 As an owner operator of a Solar Design and lnstallation Company on the Mornington Peninsula I have come across many people in my time that have told me that Solar isnt worth the Investment ...... So, l let the numbers speak for themselves . If you were to buy a descent 5kw system for say $6k & use current Electricity prices to work out the return of investment 30c consumption tariff.... 11.3c input tariff . Ive used the system performance Calculator on the Solar Regulators website (clean Energy Council). www.cleanenergycouncil.org.au So, a 5kw north facing system will make 7300kwh per year & if you didnt use ANY of the power produced and it was put back into the Grid you would still make an earning of $825 per year, 11.3c X 7300kwh = $825 a year. So, $6000 $825 = 7.3years REAL LIFE SCENARIO If you self consumed 30% & 70% was put back into the grid which l would say is a pretty conservative estimate. 30% of 7300 = 2190kwh 70% of 7300 = 5110kwh 2190Kwh X 30c = $625 per annum 5110kwh X 11.3c = $557 per annum $625 X $557 = $1202 $6000 $1202 = 5 years Return on Investment Happy days
