19.01.2022 Guys ... this Saturday the 10th Sept I am taking the boat out - weather permitting to do some wreck hunting. I have the marks for the Yamba off South Head in 74m of water. The marks come from Damien Siviero, he dived the wreck some time back - see this link http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au//2eee0292d46e18e3ce180d5c... So thanks to Damien it is time to check her out and add her to the dive list. Anyone interested ????

12.01.2022 The Caribbean Tigres

10.01.2022 Sooo after two and a half days of stuffing around with this boats bloody fuel system - she is running on both engines again. Whoever designed this fuel tank nee...ds his nuts ripped out, the tanks single baffle has only two two inch holes between both sides of the tank and of course the only inspection hatch is on one side of the tank not both. So drain the tank, rip up the floor, cut a new inspection hatch in the other side of the tank, clean the tank, make a new inspection hatch cover, install a fuel polishing system and refuel and prime both engines all in this stinking heat. Boats - I'm over them ! Anyway one more test run and it looks like its all system go for the weekend ..... fingers crossed.

09.01.2022 Guys ... the April (Easter) boat schedule is up. Book in here .... http://www.southerncrossdivers.com/diary/

09.01.2022 John, Mick, Michael & Barry ready to go!

08.01.2022 Some bad news, the wrecks in the Java Sea have been very very heavily salvaged, below is a copy of an email that was passed on to me after it became general kno...wledge when the Dutch broke the news today http://www.bing.com/news/search OK guys the news from the last trip is pretty bleak!! Reports of ripping up the wrecks are somewhat underestimated. Better to say they are GONE!! As in a trench in the mud on the bottom where they were - SERIOUSLY GONE De Ruyter Java Kortenaer Electra Exeter Encounter Apparently there is still a bit of the Houston left A local fisherman said the barge only moved off the De Ruyter 3 weeks ago. ALL GONE the guys had a multi-beam sonar on board and the big Searchlight sonar on Empress and absolutely nothing to be found - 50 60 thousand tonnes of steel. The guys reported terrible visibility below the merk-o-cline left over from the dredge bucket no doubt. They reported that the mud on the bottom is thick heavy clay and fresh. Apparently the Dutch guys on the trip are in total disbelief and are planning to raise hell in Europe next week. They had the Dutch and British military attaches’ meet Empress back at the dock. Looks like a big storm is brewing over this. Even the Japanese maru is gone Soooo not good at all, wonder if they hit the Perth at all ??? regards Baz Just got these images of the wrecks - or what's left of them.

08.01.2022 Trip number two finally pinned down - Wreck diving in the Solomon's .... Interested anybody ???

08.01.2022 Guys .... I have a few spaces left on a trip to the Lermontov in NZ ... 04-13th Dec. Here is the flyer https://drive.google.com//0B-2yMCNt8XaUaHBNbXpQY29RYnM/view... If your interested then please drop me a line. regards Baz

06.01.2022 Well I've been screwed over yet again by that not so rare breed of ass hole called a Diesel Mechanic . Sure we will have the reconditioned pump fitted before the weekend - that was last Thursday, all sounds good. So Friday it goes to the reconditioning guys or so I think who say yep it can be reconditioned but, we have to send it to another bunch of guys to do the actual work. So last Tuesday it finally hits the desk of the guy that can reconditions it but he can't have it r...eady before Tuesday next week. This Thursday no pump,no mechanic, no nothing - so a loving phone call to the guys along the lines of were the F**K are you. I wouldn't really mind if they cared a flying toss about service to the customer, you know you shit happens but no its screw you your just paying the bill and you will get it done when I'm good and ready. Soooo yet again I lose another weekends diving because of a pack of ass holes. Sorry guys to do this yet again to you. One consolation is the weather maybe bad with 20 knot winds and 3m seas

06.01.2022 Just got back from an educational trip with Allway's Dive to the Dardanelles in Turkey - top trip, a must for any Ozzie history buff. The trip brought out a few procedural issues with the dive operation and their handling of CCR diving but that was just why I went there in the first place and now that they know what to do then these small problems are being rectified. This place is a great all round dive destination and coupled with a battle field tour, an Istanbul tour plus,...the food and the people it is just magic. Thoroughly recommend this place for a great all round trip not just diving but the total WWI package with Istanbul as a bonus. A few dive shop owners backed out due to safety concerns, so this post is just to say that Turkey, with regard to safety .... there is absolutely no problem in this area, one of the most safest places I have been too. Had no fear of walking about after hours in both Istanbul and Chanakkala. Piss poor excuse for not going - safety is no more an issue here than anywhere else.

05.01.2022 Well looks like diving is back on this weekend,Saturday and Sunday. Interested then book on via the diary as per normal. Pickup Tunks Park - also normal time. regards Barry

03.01.2022 Guys ..... I am sorry to say but, as from the 1st March the cost of air fills will rise from $5 to $10. A big jump yes but, it is the first price increase in our air fills for over 25 years - the fact is that the cost of providing air has now risen way above the point that $5 will cover doing so. We will though be offering a 20 air fill card for $150 to help take the edge off this hike in price.... Sign of the times I am afraid .... once again sorry but I need to feed the family. regards Barry

01.01.2022 Good News - Bad News time Good News .... Finally I have tracked down the problem with the port engine - the fuel lift pump is stuffed. It appears that it has been slowly failing over the past two months, hence the intermediate fuel problems I have been having. Bad News .... as per bloody normal I can't get the replacement pump here today in time for the long weekend so I've had to cancelled the weekends trips.... Given the weather forecast maybe not such a bad thing. Soooo hopefully the following weekend we will be up and running and maybe we could even be coming back home on two engines for a change. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. regards Baz
