07.01.2022 Flying foxes aren't just adorable puppies with wings - they are a keystone species important to the health of our environment. Think of flying foxes as giant b...ees - they are vital for seed dispersal and pollination. But sadly, many thousands have died this year from heat events, drought and fires. They are now a threatened species. Despite this, they still face being forced from their homes, as we saw a council in my electorate attempting earlier this week. It's never been more important to protect native animals like flying foxes and their habitat. The Victorian Parliament is holding an inquiry into biodiversity loss and extinction, and I need you to make a submission. This is a unique opportunity to help animals that we might not see again before it is too late. 05.01.2022 Apologies in advance for such a sad post, but I believe it it necessary to help get the message across <3 As I was happily strolling around, I came across a de...ad mouse on the ground. I gobbled him up, and my tummy was full! But little did I know what was next to ensue.` I begin to feel ill, legs limp as I collapse to the floor, WHY OH WHY am I feeling such excruciating pain for? My eyes begin to squint, and I can't bear the pain. I've lost the will to live, and I'll never be able to fly again. My feathers ruffled, wings drooped on the floor. Blood begins coming out of my beak, and I can't take much more. My once bright eyes begin to fade, the end is near, but I'm no longer afraid. A human finds me and gently scoops me into her arms, she tells me I've been a victim of poisoning, and sadly there's not much that can be done. In my final moments, she makes me feel safe, warm and loved. I'm now flying free again in the painless skies above. I was only a juvenile, and I had many more years left to thrive, if it weren't for that poisoned mouse I'd still bloody well be alive! As I take my last breath and give a dying plea, please pass on my message to help save others from being poisoned like me.
