19.01.2022 MONDAY TIP!!! Length of manufacturers warranty... Take note of what guarantees the manufacturer offers. If the manufacturer is reputable and the warranty period... on the panels is substantial (at least 25 years) you would naturally expect your solar system to last long for a long time, long enough to pay for itself and make you a profit. However, for a warranty to be honoured, the manufacturer needs to be still operating; so be cautious of brands without a track record in Australia. See more

17.01.2022 BUYER BEWARE!!!! Solar can be a huge financial investment that can save your back pocket $$$$$ BUT... There are still companies out there that only worry about ...their back pocket and not the customers. Whenever I organise a quote, I will make sure the customer gets a list of jobs that I have completed in their local area. - Never jump at the first offer - Do your research - Ask for references - Most importantly make sure "you' understand how the solar system can benefit you or your business, before you make a purchase. (get the consultant or electrician to provide the facts on how solar actually works for your situation) See more

17.01.2022 Despite the hype about solar battery storage, any honest solar installer will give you the same advice.... Batteries will not pay for themselves in 2017.... At the moment, something like the Telsa Powerwall will cost you around $10,000 to install, and will take about 15 years to pay back. The unit is warranted to last 10 years. You do the maths. Unfortunately, all the hype in the mainstream media about batteries has made people question the viability of solar without batteries - to the extent that people are waiting for 'affordable batteries' before they invest in solar. But even though the cost of solar battery storage is projected to decline year-over-year, it makes no sense to wait to get solar. Every day you don't have solar is another day you do have to pay high electricity bills. Considering feed-in-tarrifs have incresed to around 12c per KW this year, a well designed solar system without batteries can give you tiny bills or next to nothing at all. Waiting 2, 3 or 4 years for batteries to become affordable means another 2, 3 or 4 years of high bills. One day, batteries will make lots of sense - and when that day comes they can easily be added to any existing solar system using a method called AC coupling. So don't lose years of savings waiting for cheap batteries to arrive. Act now and start saving

Now, the solar industry has come a long way over the past decade and many people receive many calls and offers all of the time, especially from big call centres so it’s very easy to become confused about which company you are dealing with or which company to trust. (please share) A lot of sola...r company's just want to make a quick sale, a quick dollar and then get out of the industry leaving their clients stranded when things go wrong. People like my self who are trying to do the right thing in the industry are left cleaning up the mess This is becoming a massive Issue. Solar works extremely well when designed properly and when you deal with a company who plans on sticking around for the long run. Pay the little extra if you have to and deal with a solar company that has plenty of references/referrals and has been around for a while or you will get BURNT. See more

13.01.2022 I have had a lot of calls today asking are we still operating... YES WE ARE SERVICING NEW AND EXISTING CLIENTS NSW & VIC are locking down unless you are an 'es...sential service'. The NSW legislation states that: "the production, supply or distribution of any form of energy, power or fuel or of power or fuel resources" is an 'essential service'. Solar is clearly a 'form of energy'. VIC is ordering 'non-essential' businesses to shut down. 'Non-essential' businesses are clearly defined (all hospitality/entertainment business). A solar installation business is not defined as a 'non-essential' business in VIC.

The challenges we had to overcome was to cover high electricity usage ...that was outside of daylight hours. During the design process, it could of been easy to fall in the expensive trap of just using batteries, to combat the power usage outside of solar generation hour's. Myself and the team at SPO found other ways that were a lot more cost effective (then batteries) to reduce the farms power usage during the day & night.
