18.01.2022 Our crew is out on the water aboard the Seapride near Port Albert this week collecting baited remote underwater videos to count and measure fish in the project area . This method uses a frame with two cameras recording fish attracted to bait on the end of a stick. Our fish surveys are informing the projects environmental assessments .

15.01.2022 Were continuing to investigate the three potential options for the projects underground transmission cables from the coast to the Latrobe Valley. Specialists are undertaking environmental data collection along the three options from now until November. 12.01.2022 Did you know that the electricity produced by the wind farm would be transmitted in High Voltage Alternating Current (AC). This is commonly used in Australia and around the world and is an efficient way to transmit large amounts of electricity over long distances! 10.01.2022 Today is Global Wind Day and were celebrating the awesome power of wind! In 2019, wind energy overtook hydro as Australias leading clean energy source. As Australias first offshore wind project, were excited about the future of our energy mix and making Gippsland the home of offshore wind in Victoria!

10.01.2022 We get lots of questions about offshore wind consistency. Weve been studying Gippslands wind profile and our initial data shows that the wind is strong, especially on hot days in the afternoon and evening when people are using their air conditioners. Well continue to monitor the wind for up to two years and this data will inform the turbine selection and wind farm design.

06.01.2022 Were aware of a website misusing our identity for fraud and making false claims about owning the Star of the South project. We have alerted police and other authorities and can confirm there is no association between Star of the South and Oleson Wind Energy. 06.01.2022 We’re getting ready to undertake our summer fish surveys . We’ll be out off the coast near Port Albert on local vessels over the next few months doing a range of different surveys to understand the fish species in the area.

Well restrict access to Corner Inlet entrances false Decisions have been made to ban all fishing in the wind farm site false Its true that we want to work with fishers, industry and government regulators to find sensible ways to share the waters safely and improve fishing where possible. Their recent 2020 global offshore wind report explains that the offshore wind industry have been less impacted by COVID-19 than other energy sectors and names Star of the South as a ground-breaking project for the offshore wind industry in Australia. New research shows the total pipeline of offshore wind projects around the world has grown by nearly 50% this year despite the challenges of COVID-19. We’re excited about this growth and what it could mean for offshore wind in Gippsland and Australia.
