24.01.2022 HEART-NECK-PAIN-LINK THE PERICARDIUM [FASCIAL ANATOMY - OSTEOPATHIC APPROACH]... The heart (1, all numbers in the text refer to pic 2!) has obvious importance for sustaining life but it has a lesser known connection to the more orthopedic problems commonly seen amongst patients. Specifically, the fascial outer layering called the pericardium is directly connected to multiple tissues in the thorax and spine. On the anterior is the connection to the sternum (2) via the superior and inferior sternopericardiac ligaments (3,4). Superiorly, the link is the cervico-pericardiac ligament (5), which is connected to the deep cervical fascia (green) and houses the trunk of the brachio-cephalic vein (6). Inferiorly, the pericardium directly connects to the diaphragm (7). Lastly, and perhaps most interesting, is the posterior-superior connection to the cervical spine. The Vertebro-pericardiac ligament (8) directly connects the heart to the anterior aspects of C6 and C7. Tension on bones is not just muscular, but can be from visceral connections such as this. Tension in this tissue can contribute the anterior translation and sheer forces in the vertebrae and discs. This raises the question why we see so much degeneration, disc herniation and pain at the lower cervical spine. Perhaps a direct connection of cervical problems to poor breathing patterns? Maybe we can positively influence the heart via the neck as therapists? The anatomical LINKS provide us the possibilities! How I manipulate the pericardium with a fascial recoil technique via the sternum you can see in my previous post. You can influence the pericardium via the superior and inferior sternopericardiac ligaments (3,4). Credit: @AnatomyLinks #Physiotherapy #SportsPhysiotherapy #Osteopathy See more

23.01.2022 This morning I worked on a client with a foot pronation pattern. After performing a single leg stance test, I identified his hip was lacking balance because his gluteus medius wasn't firing. However, I didn't stop there, after working my way up through the torso core muscles, I finally assessed his jaw. Bingo! His jaw was compensating for his core muscles. Released his jaw, activated the core muscles and his gluteus medius fired back up again reducing his foot pronation pattern. His homework is the same as the treatment, release his jaw and then activate his core. Just because a client has a sore foot, it doesn't mean there is a problem in that region. I never worked on his foot and the pattern was corrected. My rule of thumb; assess, don't guess!

20.01.2022 Aborted fetal tissues are used in vaccines. Vaccines have been experimentally tested on orphans and on mentally handicapped children. Experimental tests on babies from mothers in prisons. Experimental tests on 1 million people in then colonial Belgian Congo. There is so much information in this shocking video. A must watch and worth investing 9 hours if you are considering vaccinating your children. https://www.youtube.com/watch

16.01.2022 Hello and welcome to my new blog! What a beautiful time it is right now to reflect on what is important and to also contribute to the world. I for one have been feeling a mixture of emotions and recently it occurred to me that I wasn't practicing what I've been preaching for the last 8 years, especially from my journey as a holistic health practitioner....Continue reading

15.01.2022 Today's theme will be sciatica. The first kind is caused by spinal issues like bulging discs. This usually happens as a compensation for a weak core. The classi...c example is a woman whose had a C section and left with dysfunctional abs. In order to stabilize her lumbar spine the brain compresses it to create more stability. Over time this leads to back pain and possible spinal degeneration. In NKT we commonly find the lumbar spine compressed and neurologically overactive with underactive abs and/or other core muscles. Decompress the spine, release the overactive muscles, then activate the abs/core. See more

13.01.2022 Look at the differences between a typical preschool child’s hand (left) and a typical 7 year old hand (right). Want to know why a preschool aged child isn’t a...ble to write yet? This is why! Their hands are still developing and are not fully formed. So what should they be doing to support this? PLAY!! Playdough, colouring, cutting, gluing, playing outside, digging in dirt, sensory play, dress up play, science experiments, beading, puzzles, throwing balls, etc. . All of these things help their hands develop. When they are physically ready to write, they will! No need to rush them, they will show you when they are ready. via @Raisingherbarefoot

12.01.2022 Hello again welcome to my second entry to my blog. Today I'm going to talk about emotions which are directly related to the thoughts principal discussed in yesterday's blog entry. If you haven't read that one then I suggest you read that one first which links perfectly to this one now. This is a very emotionally charged time right now. There is a lot of uncertainty and a lot of fear about the future. It is a time when people will experience lots of trauma and unfortunately wi...Continue reading

10.01.2022 A part of the brain, in the temporal lobe, that can be very active right now, is the Reticular Activating System (RAS). The RAS helps us perceive threat, and th...e virus is certainly that. It's like a sleeping dog growling. The muscle associated with the RAS is the temporalis. You may find that people around you have tight jaws and temporal headaches. Why else is the temporalis so tight? Probably because the neck flexors are weak from reading, texting, and using a laptop. NKT regards the cranials and jaw as high priorities, areas that are overworking or neurologically overactive. Release the temporalis and activate the neck flexors to reduce stress. See more

10.01.2022 Stress lowers our immunity. Keeping it simple during times of stress can do wonders to support a healthy immune system: 1) Eat well. 2) Get adequate sleep. ...3) Exercise/move. 4) Sunshine. 5) Keep your fluids up. 6) Connect with people. If you can’t do it in person, use technology. 7) Turn off the TV. Stay informed, but take breaks. 8) Get Bowen therapy! If you’re not self-isolating, consider Bowen. Its gentle touches can shift the nervous system from fight/flight/freeze into rest/digest/repair. 9) See a naturopath or nutritionist for preventative advice and contact a doctor if you are unwell. To find a Bowen therapist near you, visit www.bowen.org.au.

07.01.2022 We all have characters that are inherited by the collective that are meant to work as a team, as allies. These characters have light and shadow attributes. The ...light attributes are often a labour of love, while the shadow is the part of us we don’t like to acknowledge. Four characters we all share and WILL test us at some point: - Victim (playing victim for personal gain) - Saboteur (undermining yourself/others) - Prostitute (selling yourself for material gain) - Child (refuse to grow up, take responsibility, pessimism, depression, abuse, and/or forever seeking a tribe) As long as you lack self-esteem in any of these areas, you will navigate your potential away from yourself in favour of physical survival. Psychologically, you will act from these foundations and call it bad luck, coincidence, poor timing and keep asking why do I... Until you know where it’s coming from and develop yourSELF, you’ll keep asking the same questions, doing the same thing and playing the same character.

07.01.2022 Today I treated someone with a right inguinal hernia. This was related to his posterior oblique slings: left glute and right lat being inhibited. His breathing had hyerachy over this, so I released right intercostal muscles and right diaphragm followed by activating the inhibited muscles. As a result his inner unit core muscles switched on too which were very weak. If the inner core muscles are weak then it's like firing a cannonball from a canoe; no stability for the extremities. As per whether he's needs an operation, I'm not qualified to say and he's meeting a surgeon in 2 weeks for an assessment. , But I've discovered the potential cause and helped his movement patterns especially when walking.

06.01.2022 Commonly by most therapists, we are recommended to stretch the Psoas, but here's the NKT reason why you should get it tested in relation to its related muscles, because it probably needs strengthening and is tight and weak.

03.01.2022 Scars from insertions, chemicals and trauma can switch of the motor control in the surrounding muscles and cause others to compensate.

03.01.2022 Treating a cervical whiplash properly involves releasing the overworking muscles and activating the underworking muscles. Just releasing the tight, painful areas only is half the equation. Here's a blog that details the process. https://neurokinetictherapy.com//do-you-treat-symptoms-or/
