25.01.2022 As part of R U Ok Day activities last Thursday, St James created a Gratitude Wall. Each student wrote down one thing they are grateful for. The aim of this task was for students to acknowledge a positive in their life. Then, if they ever come across someone who was struggling to see positives in their own life, students can remember this activity and use their example as a catalyst for conversation.

25.01.2022 The Pre-Primary students have loved every second spent in the new play area this year. As a thank you, the children made a special presentation to Mr Robertson, Mr McGeown and Mr Gore. It has been so lovely to see the ELC students enjoying the new facilities, which would not have been possible without these staff members.

Congratulations to Olivia and Jacob Allum who were the first official Junior School Marathon Club runners, clocking up 3.75km of non-stop running with Mrs Pearce last week. 22.01.2022 This morning the St James' Junior School Choir performed at the Ocean Keys Shopping Centre spreading Christmas cheer. All performers did a fantastic job. The students performed some old favourites and a few newer Christmas carols which were all a hit! The Junior School Choir along with the ELC and Senior School Choir will be performing again at the Eden Beach Christmas movie event on Friday 4 December. This morning was a great practice run for the students to perform in front of a crowd, and in St James' fashion, they did superbly.

22.01.2022 This term Year 5 students are learning about the fundamental elements of Art. Last week the class focused on value. 18.01.2022 Yesterday Mr Pree hosted the 2020 Captains at a special lunch in the Chapel. The lunch was to acknowledge the work they have done this year and to personally thank them for being part of the Senior School leadership group. In what has been a difficult year for the captains, with limited opportunities to show their leadership and contribute in the usual ways, we are so proud of what they have achieved.

18.01.2022 During the Term 3 holidays, Year 9 student Grace Harding attended the Camp Hero #19. This camp is run by a charity known at Zero2hero. Throughout the week, Grace explored Nanga Bush Camp, spoke with health professionals, mental h...ealth survivors and best of all, got to meet an amazing bunch of people. Not only has she raised money for Epilepsy WA, but also donated her hair to Sustainable Salons. Sustainable Salons collect hair donations... to make wigs for people with medically-induced hair loss conditions such as alopecia and cancer. Students grew the cabbages from seed and with the help of Hayley Bulloch, teachers and parent helpers made this ancient recipe in class. The students will now monitor the evidence of beneficial bacterial growth in the jars. This was a unique experience for the Year 4 classes that was thoroughly enjoyed.

Congratulations to Nirronto Pronoy, Indiana Lawniczak and Yolanda Huang who placed second out of 12 teams, a superb effort! As a school, St James’ finished second overall, only three points behind the winners. It was a wonderful day and a great opportunity for our students to compete against other schools in an academic setting.

05.01.2022 R U OK? Today is R U OK Day, our national day of action dedicated to reminding everyone that every day is the day to ask, Are you ok? and support those struggling with lifes ups and downs. This years message is Theres more to say after R U OK? Its not always easy to keep the conversation going when someone says theyre not ok, but it could change a life. In a year when many of us have faced challenges, were more likely than ever to hear No, Im not ok. Learn how t...o listen and how to check in at www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask. And remember, you dont need to have all the answers. Just letting that person know that you care and that they are worthy of being cared for is sometimes enough." R U OK Community Ambassador Lisa Nichols.

Khenya gave the audience advice on how being lazy is a true art; and Jaycie warned us to never trust mums fashion advice (hair crimping and butterfly hairclips were involved!). To say we are proud of the girls is an understatement, they spoke so clearly and passionately. Congratulations Khenya and Jaycie!

02.01.2022 Congratulations to Year 4 student, Yolanda Huang who has won a writing competition through The Literacy Centre as part of their Australian Storytellers Festival. We are proud to say, that Yolanda was successful and will now spend one hour with author Cristy Burne or Jen Banyard where she will have the opportunity to learn about the tips and tricks to successful writing and will take home a book prize pack. I would like to write with an author because when I grow up, one of my dream careers is to be an author and illustrator. I hope to conquer this dream career by learning from other authors’ experience. Hopefully, I can write a fantasy, suspenseful story when I grow up. Yolanda Huang.

02.01.2022 With the weather warming up, it is great to see more students riding to school. A new bike rack area has been created thanks to the grounds and maintenance staff which also includes a bike repair station. The repair station includes screwdrivers, wrenches and spanners as well as a foot pump with dual head valves. A perfect little addition to the bike rack area.
