15.01.2022 Check out the North Stradbroke Island Museum on Minjerribah new exhibition! It provides a 'birds-eye view', across decades, of the island's three major townships - Goompi/Dunwich, Mooloomba/Point Lookout and Pulan Pulan/Amity Point. Quite amazing how the landscape of Quandamooka Country has changed over the years. Straddie Excursions https://stradbrokemuseum.com.au/miriginba-mil-eagle-eye/

07.01.2022 Dugongs are some of the most abundant marine mammals found in the Moreton Bay area. They often feed in groups, with some herds being as large as 300 individuals...! These majestic animals are megagrazers that feed on seagrasses. Their feeding activity has been reported to help seagrasses to sequester great amounts of carbon dioxide, methane and other greenhouse gases! Thanks, dugongs!

06.01.2022 YALINGBILLA - WHALE WATCHING | Migalu is somewhere off the coast, two days ago he was seen off Bryon and earlier off of Port Macquarie. And could be here tomorr...ow. My Mums shared moment of waiting for Migalu became one body of work: Drawing him, making ceramic whales and then onto the commemorative Medals for the #GC2018 which was received by athletes, officials and volunteers + the large inflatable Migalu which featured in the Opening Ceremony. Life-sized scale - it was carried/manoeuvred by 24 artists, with 400 dancers beneath him. The opening ceremony showed the journey from Antarctica to @tropicalnorthqueensland - just as Migalu is doing right now - with lots of people along the coast waiting to catch a glimpse. This weekend my Mum, children and I await his passing at Mulumba - Point Lookout. : @gc2018 #DelveneCockatooCollinsArt #ArtistLife #MadeOnMinjerribah #AboriginalArt #QuandamookaCountry #StraddieIs #Straddie #Minjerribah #NorthStradbrokeIsland #RedlandsCoast #ThisIsQueensland #SeeAustralia #IslandLife #Island #Dunwich #Migalu #Humpback #Whale #Whales #Medals #RedlandsAnyDay #Quandamooka #IndigenousDesign #Stories #SupportIndigenousBusinesses #SupportSmallBusinesses #GC2018 #ShareTheDream #ExploreTNQ See more

05.01.2022 Wow! Have you ever seen so many dugongs? Nik was cruising from Moreton Island to Peel Island and had to stop and drop anchor when she spotted the herd. She sa...ys she's never encountered so many! "The dugongs weren’t fazed by me being there, one in particular was very curious and popped his whole head up, I swear he looked longer than my dinghy." : Instagram/@nautical_nik
