22.01.2022 Just in case you missed last weeks Brisbane News. Thanks to Phil Brown.

17.01.2022 "This image looks at race-based privilege in Australia, and attempts to re-conceptualise 'blackfacing'. 'Whitefacing' (such as it appears) re-appropriates the a...ct of 'blackfacing', used historically to de-humanise peoples of colour. Simultaneously, the image seeks to highlight that appropriating another’s skin colour pales into insignificance compared to the systematic extermination of traditional lifestyles of people of colour. Colonisation forced the indoctrination of 'whiteness'. Now the subject once again adopts the white mask as a metaphor for the white-washing of non-white cultures. Jack Wilkie-Jans is a Waanyi man from the Gulf of Carpentaria and of the Teppathiggi and Tjungundji tribes from Western Cape York." 15.01.2022 From the Embroidery Series influenced by the Eastern traditions of Boro, Sashiko and Kanthe and inspired by the desert country of Australia’s Red Centre and North. Inspiration is drawn particularly from a visit to Karlu Karlu (The Devil’s Marbles) in the Northern Territory. Each piece is a meditation on the breathtaking beauty of wild places, the life giving force of water, and vulnerability of these environments. Priced at $385 each.

14.01.2022 Congratulations Stephane on your milestone. You have done a superb, tireless job promoting Indigenous Art in France and beyond.

09.01.2022 A Journey to the East Exhibition

07.01.2022 Doreen Chapman is one of the hottest contemporary artists in the Pilbara. As a deaf woman, painting is a crucial medium of communication and storytelling. Over the past decade, Chapman has earned a growing national reputation for her figurative paintings in vivid pastel colours. Always on the move is Chapman’s first interstate exhibition, premiering 18 recent works focused on travel and flight, as befits an artist who loves travelling to attend her exhibition openings and mee...t her fans. This exhibition documents Chapman’s encounters and observations of items during her travels between Perth and the Pilbara region’s remote communities, that have sparked curiosity. Chapman largely paints figuratively, and as a non-verbal and profoundly deaf artist, her work is all the more compelling as her primary form of communication. Andrew Nicholls, FORM curator. See more
