20.01.2022 Paramedics are taking the risk so you don’t have to. Please stay at home and only call 000 for emergencies. Like and share this post to get their message out. ... #valueourservice #stayathome #covid19 #wetaketherisk #stopthevirus

20.01.2022 97% of ADHSU Paramedics who responded to a survey elected to stand and fight for fair pay and conditions. So that's what is happening. Liquid chalk has started ...and is spreading across the state. It's time NSW Public Servants are allowed to freely bargain like other workers in NSW. Time to rip up the wages policy. Don't forget to send pictures of your chalked up vehicles to [email protected]. Just like death and disability, if we stand together we can win this too. #valueourservice

12.01.2022 ADHSU gets Fairfield PRP issues addressed Over the past week, South West Sydney delegates have been ramping up the ongoing fight to fix the poor and unsafe conditions that staff have been subjected to at the Fairfield Paramedic Response Point (PRP). As many would know, this used to be a well-maintained full time station until the advent of the Paramedic response network and Superstations, but has been in slow decline, with little to no maintenance, rendering it unsafe. This c...ulminated in the ADHSU taking the drastic action last Monday to place a work ban on the location as a PRP until the site had been inspected by a Health and Safety Representative (HSR) and cleared for use. That report has now been finalised and the result is that the station cannot be used for crews to have their crib. The kitchen area has been deemed unfit for use, so the PRP can only be utilised for short term standby of no more than 30 minutes. The Service have now committed to a scope of work being carried out on the Fairfield PRP which includes a new kitchen, new carpet, new lighting throughout the station and plant room, bathroom repairs, new blinds and a complete repaint. This work has now secured funding and will commence mid-June. This commitment to the time frame of the repairs would not have been possible if ADHSU delegates in South West Sydney hadn’t asked for an urgent HSR audit and when this wasn’t forthcoming in a reasonable time, placing immediate work bans on the site. It is a perfect example of why HSR’s are an important asset in keeping Paramedics safe in their workplace. The combined Sydney Sub Branch delegates are always happy to work with local management to solve workplace issues, including safety and this is why we are also committed to increasing HSR numbers at every station in Sydney. We have a working relationship with the management team in SWS, so this helped us to the eventual result we have in place today. There will be an opportunity in the very near future for Paramedics right across Sydney to nominate for a Health and Safety Representative position, so we believe that it is imperative that we get as many of you to take that step and protect not only yourself at work but your colleagues as well. Fairfield was an example of how the HSR role can speed up action in relation to safety because unfortunately, we cannot always rely on NSWA to protect us at work. We also take this opportunity to thank all the members who stood firm with the work ban, which in essence, strengthened our position in getting a speedy solution. We encourage all members to be on the lookout for safety issues at all locations, including your home stations and other PRP’s and report them to your line manager or the HSR. See more

12.01.2022 Well done to every member who signed a letter and was active in getting the letters signed. The ball is now in the treasurers court. If he decides to ignore the demands, then more action is planned to put pressure on the treasurer. ... Keep an eye out at your station and share Sydney Sub branches post to show the public you won’t accept this any more.

02.01.2022 PARAMEDICS PUNISHED WITH DEPLOYED ROSTER SHORTFALLS Paramedics in Sydney's South West are not only dealing with a much loved colleague falling ill with Covid ...19 but the remaining staff are now confronted with shortfalls in rosters. NSW Ambulance continue to refuse to increase minimum deployment levels from 2010 levels despite the additional staff enhancements under SWEP. Multiple staff at Liverpool Super Station have been required to self isolate and their positions are left vacant because we fall back on ridiculous antiquated rostering levels. This also highlights the flaws of the superstation concept in the time of a pandemic. Putting large numbers of staff in one location as part of the failed Paramedic Response Network as opposed to staff spread across a network of enhanced suburban stations. Stations that were closer to communities. All of this in the shadow of confusion around the availability of appropriate masks, an integral part of PPE for front-line Paramedics. Commissioner Morgan it's time you stepped up, fought for your staff and maintained funded rosters across Sydney and NSW. You might be at the helm, but your staff are waiting for you to lead and commit to minimum staffing levels appropriate to 2020.
