25.01.2022 " " 76cm x 50cm Acrylic on stretched canvas The inspiration for this painting is the idea of a peaceful hidden reef - untouched and pristine. I loved showing the colours created as the sand tapers away under the water, and where the water creeps up onto the sand.... . . 13.01.2022 It’s been way too long since I’ve posted on here or done any artwork, sometimes life and tiredness can really put a dampener on creativity.but I’m starting to get back into the swing again. I’m working on a couple of portraits of a singer Scott Hutchison from the band Frightened Rabbit who lost his battle with depression last year. One portrait will be charcoal and the other acrylic on canvas. Both portraits will be sold when finished with 100% of the sale price going to a foundation set up in his name. Here is a progress shot from the first sitting of the charcoal portrait. Lots more to go, but it’s nice to get back into some art again. #scotthutchison #frightenedrabbit #frabbit #missingscott #tinychanges

09.01.2022 After a very stressful day at work I decided to throw myself into this painting... it’s a great distraction albeit relatively brief. So here are some progress shots of this Scott Hutchison painting (again, to be sold for a charity set up in his name). I’m pretty happy with how this is coming along. Lots of finer details to go which will (hopefully) bring this to life! I’m learning that after every session when I think things are almost done, I take a step back and can see al...l the things that still need changing or fixing... I guess I’ll know it’s finished when that doesn’t happen Scott’s parting words to everyone in the twittersphere were to be so good to everyone you love. It’s not a given A very important message from an unbelievably talented man. Mental illness is a definite battle and a struggle- please always remember you are never alone, and it won’t be like this all the time. #maketinychanges

02.01.2022 I’m proud to say that I finished the portrait of Scott Hutchison! It took a bit longer than usual, - but this portrait was always going to be tough and special to me. I wanted to put everything into it and make sure I was really happy with the result. I’m even more excited that this painting is going to be up for grabs at a charity event in Brisbane on 18th of this Month that is being held in Scott’s memory. The Frabbit community is like no other group of people I’ve come t...o know. They have banded together after the loss of Scott and everyone is focused on supporting each other and raising money and/or awareness for mental health charities around the globe. There is a common goal here; to make tiny changes. Be so good to everyone you love. And be there for each other - a tiny change for the better may be all that someone needs to turn their whole life around.

01.01.2022 Second sitting with this new painting... I need to remind myself that I’ve never painted a seascape so it won’t come together as quickly as some others. Portraits are so different ... skin tones blend and facial features cast shadow and attract light. Here I am working on getting my head into all of the shades of sky and cloud, sea and sand, and then then the reflections. It’s amazing and beautiful and challenging which I love. I think tomorrow will see some nice changes once this layer Drys. I’ll create more dept with shadow and highlights and see how much I can get done. I’m super keen to get a couple more acrylic pours underway too... but this painting is also making me want to just go to the beach with a book and enjoy some sun and salt
