24.01.2022 Random selection of photos from our escape attempt 2019.

23.01.2022 Home safe. To misquote Stanley Holloway "There were no [major] wrecks and nobody drownded". Just one photo for now - from end of penultimate day. Jess and Katie drove, Andrew hung on in the back, so I can blame them for the mud. More photos to follow. Thanks again to everyone who supported and encouraged us.

22.01.2022 Many thanks to all our supporters. We redeemed another load of containers today. Wont know for a day or so how much money you all generated for us. Some of you may remember the car. A little faded but still providing sterling service.

22.01.2022 Highly desirable containers under the Container Deposit Scheme.

21.01.2022 Gus and TowBall rescuing Lindy and Jess after they drowned the car. Thanks to Andrew from W2 for the photos. These are the people that make the Great Escape work so well.

21.01.2022 Jess and Lindy not happy. A selfie taken after they had drowned the car at the second water hazard. They may be putting on extra sad faces. A beer will help.

20.01.2022 It is getting close. The all important door stickers with car number arrived yesterday. We are busy preparing the car and a massive garage sale to raise the all important dollars for CFA. Details to follow very soon.

20.01.2022 Orkambi demonstration

19.01.2022 Behold - our new escape suits. One size fits all.

17.01.2022 It was a boring wet drive. We searched for entertainment.

17.01.2022 No photo to go with this update post which is a shame. Clare works in the same building as Jessica ( escape driver extraordinaire ). Clare is a great cook with a heart of gold. To help Team Car 56 TWF Clare held a bake sale at her work place. From the sale of cakes and slices and cookies she was able to donate a cool $1,000 to CF Australia in support of Team Car 56 TWF. An outstanding effort - totally amazing. We can not thank Clare enough for her help and support and encouragement. Thank you Clare.

17.01.2022 We are holding a garage sale to raise money for CF Australia

16.01.2022 The Great Escape home page now claims Canberra as the finish line for 2019 Great Escape. We feel even more pressure to enter and defend our title as Champion Car for the ACT.

16.01.2022 Never afraid to go after the big ideas Team Car 56 has a cunning plan to raise money toward our Great Escape donation. We are going to raise big dollars through the ACTs Container Deposit Scheme. It seemed like a good idea at the time. We are putting the hard word on neighbours and local businesses to collect their old containers which we will then return under the Container Deposit Scheme and pass the money raised to CF Australia as entrants in the CF Great Escape.... Our Canberra based Face Book friends need not feel left out - you can help too. If you agree, we will supply you with a box in which you can save any suitable containers, we will then collect them for recycling under the Container Deposit Scheme. Suitable containers are made of glass, PET, HDPE, aluminium, steel or liquid paperboard (cartons) and between 150mL and 3L in size. If you are not sure we will take them all and sort them for you. Sadly, plastic milk bottles are not part of the Deposit Scheme. We have loaded an image of some typical containers to our photo page. If you feel you can help, please contact us through Face Book or by email at [email protected] When you want your drink containers removed just contact us again - we will collect them and supply you with a fresh box to continue the process. You can read more about Cystic Fibrosis Australia and what they do at https://www.cysticfibrosis.org.au You can read more about the CF Great Escape at https://www.cysticfibrosis.org.au/greatescape The most recent update we have seen has the 2019 Great Escape finishing in Canberra. We feel we must enter and defend our title as State Champion Car from The ACT. Team Car 56 has won our class - Cars from the ACT - every time we have entered the Great Escape **. With your help we are sure to win again. And you can read all about the Container Deposit Scheme at https://actcds.com.au/ Unfortunately Car 56 does not fit the Deposit Scheme criteria to be considered a local charity. In an effort to raise money for CF Australia we have adopted this more entrepreneurial approach. ** Every time we have entered the Great Escape we have been to only car from Canberra. It is important to pick the right competition if you want to win. Having said that - The Great Escape is not a race in any way shape or form..cross my heart.

16.01.2022 How it should be done. 4WD ? Who needs it?

16.01.2022 After long and faithful service the mighty (the) White Falcon has given up the ghost. Difficult to start, down on power, running rough and making clouds of smoke it was obvious something major had gone pop in the motor to use a technical term. Amazingly we were able to find a buyer even with car in this condition. We removed the bash related accessories and delivered car to new home. These are the last images we will post. All images have been de-identified to protect the innocent. Thank you to all who helped along the way. The end of an era......

15.01.2022 2018 didnt happen. We have all arranged to see our respective friendly neighbourhood proctologists to ensure finger extraction and full recovery for 2019.

13.01.2022 It was a wet drive from Bourke to Charleville. We did wonder why all the caravans were heading the other way. What did they know that we were yet to learn?

13.01.2022 Took the mighty White Falcon to the car doctor yesterday for a final check - change the oils and general once over. Went to our favourite and best mechanic in town - Pharleys Spares & Repairs in Hume. Steve has looked after us for several Escape attempts and has done us proud again. I cant recommend him highly enough. Proud to have his name on side of our car.

11.01.2022 No photo ...yet perhaps one will come soon...but Leon (me) killed the car...burst a water hose that lives deep under inlet manifold and beyond the reach of mortal men. We were rescued - again - by Steve and his crew at "Pharleys Service and Repair" in Hume. They have helped us before and we proudly carry their name on our car. We must get a bigger version of their name ... They did us proud again.

09.01.2022 Driving through hills south and west of Braidwood.

09.01.2022 Touching up the paint job and adding extra lights. Highly skilled craftsmen at work.

08.01.2022 We have recently learnt that the 2019 Great Escape will run from Cowra NSW out to who knows where (not Terry) and end in Murrumbateman NSW which is really just an outer suburb of Canberra. While we suspect this may be an acknowledgement of the outstanding efforts of another team - Team Car 56 TWF feels a certain moral obligation to get our act together and return to claim our crown as Class Champion - Canberra Car in 2019. Where did I put the car keys?

05.01.2022 Post bash wash up.

05.01.2022 I have just delivered our last load of recyclable containers to the return shop. As I write I dont know how much money they will bring us. Thanks to everyone who collected containers for us. I can refer you to a good liver doctor should you need one.

04.01.2022 How many containers to fill a Nimbus? We lost count but you all helped us raise $98.some cents. Near enough $100.00. Great effort. You all deserve a celebratory drink....from a refundable container.

03.01.2022 Snow in hills near Braidwood.

01.01.2022 This car is becoming very boat like and not just the way it goes around corners....a money pit. Seems this model Ford has a reputation for cracking heads. Given the way we use the poor old thing..sit idle for months then bashed across the country side through rivers and deserts across mountains and snow it should come as no surprize that our head cracked too. Far toooo complex for us we had to seek help from the experts - the team at Phillip Head Services saved us. We are back - running cooler than new and we have a another brightly coloured sticker to add to our performance enhancing collection. No excuses we now must get our act sorted and enter the 2018 Great Escape.

01.01.2022 Thank you Craig.
