24.01.2022 Message from Mark Handley Brisbane International Tournament Director Brisbane Tennis to return in 2022... To our valued fans, As you are all too aware, 2020 has been a year of challenges and tough decisions. Due to the many logistical challenges created by the pandemic, it has been decided that Brisbane Tennis will not be played in Queensland this summer. This tough decision has been made because of the restrictions in every State and Territory which make it impossible for the players to prepare properly for the first Grand Slam of the year, and for us to run our event in a safe way for the Queensland community. Fortunately, we will still have an Australian Summer of Tennis with the Australian Open and lead in events to be played in Victoria. We understand this is disappointing news, particularly for our dedicated fans, the Brisbane Tennis family. We hope however, like us, you are energised by the fact the Australian Open will go ahead as planned and the world's best players will start 2021 in Australia. We will continue to update you on how you can enjoy the summer of tennis from Queensland and how you can experience the live action from the Australian Open, should the future allow for our fans to head to Victoria in January. Rest assured our team will be working harder than ever on our events as they make a much anticipated return in 2022. Sincerely, Mark Handley Brisbane International Tournament Director | ATP Cup General Manager

23.01.2022 ITF Seniors 2020 World Championships Update The global pandemic continues to cause uncertainty regarding international travel and presents significant logistical challenges for planning and running these international events. Unfortunately, it has been confirmed that the following events will not take place in 2020:... ITF Young Seniors (35-40-45) World Team & Individual Championships in Umag, Croatia (13 26 September 2020) ITF Super-Seniors (65-70-75-80-85) World Team & Individual Championships in Mallorca, Spain (11 24 October 2020) It is with great disappointment that the decision to cancel the above major ITF Circuits events were taken. These will take place in the same locations in 2021. Dates for the ITF Young Seniors and Super-Seniors in 2021 will be confirmed in due course, as soon as suitable arrangements have been confirmed by host organisers. We can confirm that the Seniors (50-55-60) World Team & Individual Championships will be held in Boca Raton and Palm Beach Gardens, USA from 25 April 8 May 2021. Factsheets for these events will be made available approximately 6 months before the event takes place. We look forward to a successful year ahead and to staging events for the enjoyment of tennis players worldwide. ITF Seniors Tour team

20.01.2022 2020 ITF Seniors World Championships Update Can't read this service? View in browser ITF Header 2020 ITF Seniors World Championships Update In response to the o...ngoing COVID-19 pandemic, the ITF has suspended all Tours, including the ITF Seniors Tour until 13 July 2020. This includes the postponement of the ITF Seniors (50-55-60 years) World Team & Individual Championships which had been scheduled to take place In Boca Raton and Palm Beach Gardens, USA from 26 April to 9 May 2020. The ITF has been working with the host organiser, venues, event partners and independent travel advisors in recent weeks to identify a safe and viable date to reschedule the event in 2020. Protecting the health and well-being of players, officials, guests, club members and local communities has remained the priority. Due to the ongoing global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has not been possible to achieve the criteria set for the event to be rescheduled in 2020, and as such the ITF Seniors (50-55-60 years) World Team & Individual Championships will not be held in 2020. The 2021 ITF Seniors (50-55-60 years) World Team & Individual Championships will therefore take place in Boca Raton & Palm Beach Gardens with the precise dates to be announced in due course. The ITF Young Seniors (35-40-45 years) World Championships scheduled for 13-26 September 2020 in Umag, Croatia and the ITF Super-Seniors (65-70-75-80-85 years) World Championships scheduled for 11-24 October 2020 in Mallorca, Spain both remain on the 2020 calendar. The ITF will continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation alongside tournament hosts and partners, with the aim of resuming ITF tournaments as soon as it is safe to do so. If you have any queries, please contact the ITF Seniors Department by email [email protected]

20.01.2022 50 years ago, Orange's Helen Worland was on court at Wimbledon. To mark the occasion three of her closest friends gave her one of the biggest surprises of her life.

18.01.2022 WELL DONE Geoff Arnell and crew at Hervey Bay Tennis, lots of fun on the cold, wet and windy week-end but that did not deter the players from having a good time and playing great tennis, with players from TAS, SA, VIC & NSW escaping before their borders were closed. Sorry Vicki Perlic, I fell down badly on the photographic front, but I took a few. Hope to see you all next week-end at Bundaberg.

17.01.2022 Now this will make you laugh Introducing some hilarious ATP players impersonations!

17.01.2022 Bit of a washout for parts of the 2020 Bundaberg tournament. Such a shame. Friday arv was washed out and Saturday morning looked like it was out too, however, the hard working organisers moved some of us to courts further out of town to fit the event in. Those that remained at the main courts in Bundy were not so lucky however as the heavens opened up on them after only a couple of sets. Plan B ..... move upstairs and have a drink whilst watching the downpour.....always an option at Bundy. Saturday night dinner and trivia was a hit as per usual. Sunday came and shone bright and clear to finish off the tournament. Thanks to all the organisers for a great event under very trying circumstances. Ernie Young I borrowed your Sunday morn pic of the courts and the one of Annette & Helen from your fb. Thank you

15.01.2022 Dear Regional and National Associations, We are pleased to inform you of two developments for the ITF Seniors Tour in 2021, recently approved by the ITF Seniors... Committee and ITF Board. Currently, the ITF Seniors Circuit offers age groups at 5-year increments from 35 years and above to 85 years and above, which sees 27,500 players compete in over 500 tournaments. As part of the ITF’s mission to make Seniors Tennis the leading sport in terms of player participation, we want to ensure we are offering age appropriate competitive opportunities to maximise enjoyment and engagement. Following independent research and feedback from national associations, advisory panels and players, the ITF will introduce two new age groups; 30 plus and 90 plus from January 2021. 30+ age category Outside of the ITF World Tennis Tour, which provides competitive opportunities for the most elite players of this age group, there are fewer opportunities for players aged 30 and over to compete in an organised tournament circuit. We believe there is a significant opportunity to increase participation on the ITF Seniors Tour by providing the large number of players of this age who play tennis to a high level, with the opportunity to enter and compete in age appropriate tournaments and to earn an ITF world ranking in their age group. The ITF Seniors Tour also provides players with many enriching benefits including the ability to travel to new places and to develop friendships and camaraderie. The ITF Seniors Tour will introduce events in Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles, with a 30+ age category also added to the ITF Young Seniors World Individual Championships from 2021. New event formats introduced to the ITF Seniors Tour in recent years are strongly recommended for younger age groups, including the new 30+ age category. This includes the use of short set singles matches, and the 10-point match tie-break in final sets of singles matches. These formats can allow for events to take place in shorter time periods by allowing players to compete in more than one singles match a day. We look forward to working with national associations to promote this new level of competition and introduce a new group of players to the circuit. 90+ age category The number of active players aged 90 and over competing in ITF Seniors events continues to grow. This means it is now viable to introduce a new age category and we can encourage more players to play in ITF Seniors tournaments who may be currently discouraged by having to play in younger age categories. The 90 years and over age category will be introduced in Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles, with a 90+ age category also added to the ITF Super Seniors World Individual Championships from 2021. The following provides additional information relating to the introduction of both age groups: An ITF Seniors Ranking for Women’s Singles, Men’s Singles, Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles will be introduced in 2021 for these two new categories. Player registrations to the ITF Seniors Circuit for those aged 30 plus (born 1986-1991) through IPIN will be made available from October 2020. There is no upfront cost to register and obtain an IPIN membership. This allows players to join the ITF community, enter tournaments and compete on the ITF Seniors Tour. The ITF look forward to working with you to help increase competitive participation in your nation in 2021 and beyond. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact [email protected] Yours sincerely, Matt Byford Manager, ITF Juniors & Seniors [email protected] Davis Cup Fed Cup Olympic Tennis Event Pro Circuits Officiating Rules Development Juniors WheelchairTennis Seniors Technical Coaching Anti-Doping

15.01.2022 Latest update from Tennis Qld, stay safe everyone and we will get through this!! A COVID-19 update from Tennis Queensland Dear Members... The Federal Government announced last night that further restrictions would be placed on the community to combat the spread of COVID-19, including the closing of a number of venues that attract large social gatherings such as pubs, clubs, restaurants and indoor sports facilities. This situation is constantly changing and we want you to know that Tennis Queensland is here to assist our clubs and coaches in helping you to continue delivering tennis in your local community in the most responsible way. Outlined below are updated Community Play Guidelines for Continued Play. They outline ways we can still play tennis with some important restrictions to ensure we are operating in way that adheres to the expert health advice. Key updates in the updated guidelines include: Limit community tennis activities to casual court hire, one-on-one coaching and small groups No indoor tennis or indoor tennis coaching is permitted In some circumstances clubhouses at your venue should be closed to the public Any gyms or sit down cafeterias associated with your tennis venue must now close Coach operated venues are being asked to consider changes in their day-to-day operations The immediate future of our sport is in our own hands, and we all have a part to play. Failure to comply with Government guidelines in regards to social gatherings and social distancing will result in even more stringent regulations, which could potentially lead to a full lockdown of our sport. Let's work together to demonstrate a level of social responsibility, so we can keep tennis open and provide an appropriate outlet for the people in our communities. Please click here to access the updated Community Tennis Guidelines for Continued Play. Note, there are guidelines suitable for coaches, clubs and players available via this link. Please review all that are relevant to you and we ask that you please share the player information with your members so that they are also well informed. At this point in time Tennis Queensland will not contact players directly as we do not want to contradict any communications you are sending. Please click here to access the latest information from the Queensland Government. If at any time you have questions in regards to COVID-19 or your tennis operation, please contact your Tennis Queensland representative If you are having difficulty downloading the Guidelines please email [email protected] Kind regards Mark Handley Chief Executive Officer Tennis Queensland
