20.01.2022 HORSE DEAD FROM HENDRA IN THE HUNTER VALLEY The NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) has confirmed that a mare on a property near Scone in the Up...per Hunter Valley had the deadly bat-borne disease. The DPI says that the owners euthanased the unvaccinated horse after it developed a sudden onset of neurological signs and became unresponsive. A Hunter Local Land Services district vet collected samples from the property to test for Hendra on Sunday and the infection in the horse was confirmed by the State Veterinary Laboratory at Menangle today. The DPI says that no other horses on the property are showing any signs of ill health but will continue to be monitored, and NSW Health is undertaking risk assessments of people who may have had contact with the affected horse. A Biosecurity Direction is in place to quarantine the property and the DPI is tracing horse movements on and off the property in the last 16 days. The most southerly case until now had been the death of a horse at Dondingalong near Kempsey in 2013. The last outbreak of Hendra in NSW was an unvaccinated horse on a property near Tweed Heads in September 2018. : Private vet examines a sick horse suspected of having the Hendra virus in the Macleay Valley (file photo).

13.01.2022 I've had a number of people want to see "exactly" what I have been doing with these anxious horses at horse expos to bring around a dramatic change from anxious... and running around and calling out, to relaxed and connected. In order for them to see it and understand it, they'd have to hear the whole explanation of what it's all about, AND watch the process. From experience and observing the analytics that social media provides, most people won't watch more than a 5 minute video, so if I can't cover the process in that amount of time, no one watches it, so they definitely wouldn't watch a video that goes for 40-50 minutes. Last weekend at the Western States Horse Expo I was lucky enough to work with an anxious Off The Track Thoroughbred who had enough anxiety to show very obvious and common signs of it, but who made a huge change in a short amount of time, WHILE I was able to explain the process rather succinctly. If you know someone who has been wondering what it's all about, this video may be very helpful to them.
