25.01.2022 CRUISING TAHITI WITH PAUL GAUGUIN CRUISES Our Editor at Sea Michael Osborne is exploring Tahiti on board his Paul Gauguin luxury cruise ship this week. Early this morning the ship was at Fatu Hiva in the Marquesas. He posted these videos and a photo for our readers to enjoy. For more details: #paulgauguincruises #thematuretraveller

25.01.2022 MORE CERTAINTY NEEDED FOR OUR CRUISE INDUSTRY IN 2021 AND BEYOND Politicians are rightly concentrating in ending the pandemic afflicting Australia but they should also be developing plans for the travel industry and cruising to resume. We have a Federal Tourism Minister and Tourism Ministers in each State. It's time to hold a conference and come up with a solid plan to get ships cruising around Australia and into the islands.

25.01.2022 SOMEONE AT NSW HEALTH IS TELLING PORKY PIES...

23.01.2022 I'M BACK..SO LET'S GO CRUISING EVERYONE Having endured three months of dribble about cruising from the media, police and politicians it is time to get going with a dose of positivity and so I'm back and rearing to go! The sooner the ships come back and we can start cruising the better. I think it will be Australian ports first, then NZ, then the South Pacific. Cruising to China is finished and most of Asia will suffer. A lot of over 70s won't cruise until the vaccine becomes available ....and I don't blame them. I reckon we'll be cruising this summer. Can hardly wait, Give me your thoughts.

23.01.2022 WHO IS READY TO GO CRUISING AGAIN?? I know I am, but it would be nice to have 'the' vaccine first...

22.01.2022 JUST IGNORE TV CHANNELS ATTACKING OUR INDUSTRY -,WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE CRUISING I don't get involved in watching hatchet jobs by TV Channels on the cruise and travel industries. We are all going through a bad patch as a nation, so let's all work our way through this with our heads held high. Cruising has changed the lives of those of us who enjoy it. That joy of going to sea, meeting new friends and discovering new places can never be taken away.... TV journalists who get involved in this type of CRAP are like looters who go over dead bodies extracting gold teeth Well cruising will be around long after Chanmel 7 has disappeared. Here's to cruising. Long may she reign See more

20.01.2022 FROM ON BOARD THE 'VOLCANO' SHIP-

20.01.2022 VISITING THE LARGEST OF THE MARQUESAS (From Michael Osborne on board the Paul Gauguin cruise ship) Today was simply stunning as I got the chance to visit one of... the remote Christian places of worship. It also has deep meaning with the islanders as a place of worship. We were on Nuka Hiva, largest island of the Marquesas group Herman Melville wrote his book "Typee" based on his adventures while living on the island in the Taipivai Valley. Robert Louis Stevenson visited on his way to Samoa on board the Casco. I would like to share some photos of the unusual fertility art works and the inside of the Notre Dame. If you'd like to enjoy an adventure on this stunning luxury ship #paulgauguincruises #thematuretraveller See more

19.01.2022 THE UNIQUE PARADISE OF MOOREA (By our Editor on Board Michael Osborne) Nothing quite prepares you for the unique spectacle of Moorea's jagged green peaks thrust...ing up from the Pacific. It proved to be the grand finale of my journey through Tahiti aboard the luxury cruise ship Paul Gauguin. Moorea, along with equally awe inspiring Bora Bora, are the two world famous islands Tahiti is known for worldwide. We enjoyed the island followed by a beautiful sunset. 18.01.2022 SOMEWHERE BETWEEN HAWAII AND TAHITI It's 2.30am and we are halfway between Hawaii and Tahiti. We leave the balcony door open and listen to the waves. It's 23 ce...lcius, raining and pitch black (see sea video). Haven't seen one other ship the entire way. Ruby Princess is running smoothly on a calm sea. Storms about. See more

18.01.2022 GOOD MORNING FROM RUBY PRINCESS We have left American Samoa (bottom) are passing through Tonga bound for Auckland. What a great cruise! A beautiful ship and fri...endly staff. 17.01.2022 CRUISING TO AUSTRALIA ON THE BEAUTIFUL RUBY PRINCESS This stunning, elegant cruise ship is heading for Australia and I am lucky enough to he enjoying the 28 day voyage from LA to Sydney via Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa and NZ. If you are cruising on her in Australia you will find her to be a very friendly, relaxed ship. The Horizon buffet in this ship is extra big which means there is plenty of tables for brekky and lunch. The swimming pool at the rear of the ship is excellent on 3 ...counts- superb view, adults only and a walk-in staircase. I wish more cruise ships had walk-ins in pools rather than ladders. For dinner last night I had Cuban spicey prawns for entree and beef ribs with cabernet based sauce for main. Desert (naughty naughty) was chocolate macadamia nut cake with ice cream. To compliment it I chose a Dashwood sav blanc from NZ, always a good choice. Today the sea has picked up and it's raining. Look for upcoming feature stories in #australiancruisemagazine #thematuretraveller or newspapers and magazines nationwide See more

17.01.2022 CORONAVIRUS AND YOUR CRUISE One of the big decisions facing cruise and travel passengers in 2020 is the risks involving the so called coronavirus outbreak. The coronavirus group is nothing new to humans, but this is a previously unknown mutation which is particularly nasty. It is perfectly treatable but acts quickly, attacking the respiratory system. For this reason, senior and health challenged travellers are particularly at risk which means you have to be cautious. One of t...he recomended procedures for avoiding contracting the coronavirus strain is to avoid crowded places, which is impossible on cruise ships. The grey area is travel insurance. If you take out a policy and then decide not to travel because you are worried about the virus, to my understanding you are not covered. You are only covered if you get the virus, because it is not a pre existing condition. I can't advise you whether to travel or not but I do recomnend you take all precautions suggested by experts and don't fall prey to misinformation spread by alarmists and keyboard 'experts' on social media See more

17.01.2022 IN LOVELY AKAROA TODAY ON RUBY PRINCESS A cold, wet, foggy day, but what a lovely little town. Just 609 people live in Akaroa, set inside the crater of an extin...ct volcano. The sea water breached one section of the crater and flooded it, creating a perfect harbour. It was used it as a secret Naval base in WW2. The fishing is great but the weather is always changing. It reminds me of coastal Wales. #thecruiseexpert #australiancruisemagazine See more

15.01.2022 ADVENTURES ON A GREEK CRUISE

15.01.2022 STILL GREAT CRUISING IN AUSTRALIA Went on a 'great' cruise out to the Great Barrier Reef with Cruise Whitsundays recently. What an amazing day out it was, especially for me because I hadn't been to the reef out from Airlie Beach for more than 20 years. Cruise Whitsundays has large catamarans that roar along at a good pace and get you to the Reef in under 2 hours. They have a large double decker pontoon/ship/activity centre moored at the Reef permanently. From here you can sno...rkel safely, go for a swim, scuba dive, take a glass bottom boat tour or just chill out in the sun. It is all done under expert supervision and a fine buffet lunch is served back on board. I love cruising and this ranks up with the Isle of Pines Mystery Zealand and Champagne Beach as a day tour. 15.01.2022 CRUISING THE STUNNING MARQUESAS (By Michael Osborne, on board the Paul Gauguin in Tahiti) Today we are at beautiful Tahuata Island means sunrise in Marquesan.... The seafront village is Hapatoni Street which is lined with Tamanu trees and the wafting perfume of frangipani. Sitting on the rear deck of the luxury Paul Gauguin and enjoying the awesome views with fellow passengers is one of the highlights of an amazing adventure. #paulgauguincruises #thematuretraveller See more

15.01.2022 60 MINUTES RUN BIASED REPORT 60 Minutes presented a ridiculous story on the cruise industry tonight. They never had one positive thing to say about cruising and they relied on a sly old lawyer from Miami who makes his money hounding cruise companies. That's right, Jim Walker who masquerades as a cruise blogger is not the independent critic Tom Steinfort made him out to be. Jim Walker is a partner in Walker & O'Neil, a law firm special ising in cruise ship cases. Steinfort played right into his hands by giving him air time.and free advertising. I could name 100 independent cruise experts he could have talked to, but why bother. It just saddens me to see cub reporters sucked in that way

14.01.2022 RUBY PRINCESS IN HEAVY SEAS TODAY We have run into a low pressure system on the bottom of NZ so our visit to Milford Sound is cancelled. Yesterday was the best ...day, today is the worst of our 28 day voyage across the Pacific. Waves are 8m according to the captain earlier today with 50+ km winds. Captain is steering north to avoid the worst of it, then heading west for Sydney. My video shows the conditions. #thecruiseexpert #australiancruisemagazine #maturetravellers See more

14.01.2022 WE ARE GETTING MARRIED ON THE SHIP My fiance Sharon and I are getting married on Ruby Princess on our current voyage between LA and Sydney. We love cruising and decided the ship was the place to undertake the big event with the captain presiding over the symbolic ceremony in the beautiful little chapel. I proposed at the Grand Canyon and was ready to jump if she said no lol Without going into details, with Sharon's nursing expertise and care I wouldn't be here. If you see on the ship, say "G'day"

14.01.2022 THE FINAL HOME OF PAUL GAUGUIN (By Michael Osborne, on board the Paul Gauguin) Today I fulfilled a dream of stepping ashore on Hiva Oa, the final home and resting place of the brilliant impressionist painter Paul Gauguin. It is fitting that I journeyed to this remote island in the Marquesas with my partner Pam because we are cruising on board the Paul Gauguin luxury cruise ship. As you can see it is windy today but you can also see why Gauguin was attracted to its remote beauty, far from the hustle and bustle of his native Paris. I am looking forward to now exploring the island. If you would like further info on the cruise, simply click on #paulgauguincruises #thematuretraveller

10.01.2022 THE POWER OF FACEBOOK AND CRUISING I achieved more than 25,000 views of my little Ruby Princess videos shot on the recent voyage from LA to Sydney using my Ipho...ne. It is an astounding figure in anyone's language. Thanks again to everyone for watching them and commenting. I really loved sharing them with you all. 10.01.2022 RUBY PRINCESS HAS THREE GREAT POOLS Australians wont be lacking for a pool or two or three aboard Ruby Princess this year. The ship has three great pools, but my favourite is the stunning Adults Only pool at the rear next to the stern Easy access, great views, protected from the wind and plenty of space. I love it! #australiancruisemagazine

07.01.2022 MARRIED ON RUBY PRINCESS TODAY Sharon and I were married today in a lovely symbolic service conducted by the Captain of the Ruby Princess Ron Wilson in the Wedd...ing Chapel on board. Sharon looked beautiful in a cream formal pant suit and pink rose bouquet..I did my best lol. We had a special six course wedding dinner at Curtis Stone's Share Restaurant. Thousands of photos and hours of video later we enjoyed drinks with our friends Bruce and Sandy from Melbourne. Now we can relax..I proposed at the Grand Canyon (if she said 'no' I could jump!). The staff on Ruby Princess were amazing...a day we will remember forever. I knew my late wife Bronwyn approved and was watching over us all the way. When we returned to our cabin it was all decorated in Roses, chocolates and 2 doves kissing. An amazing day and night for us. See more

07.01.2022 THE PRIVATE ISLAND OF PAUL GAUGUIN (By the Mature Traveller Michael Osborne who is on board the ship) Today was a very special day for passengers on board the l...uxury Paul Gauguin cruise ship. We visited the cruise line's private island in the Marquesa group and it proved to be a real tropical paradise in the true traditions of the legendary Tahiti group. To top it all off, the local island kids came on board for a tour and lunch. It was one of the many highlights of what has been an amazing cruise I will never forget. 06.01.2022 CRUISING TAHITI WITH PAUL GAUGUIN CRUISES Our Editor at Large Michael Osborne is cruising Tahiti with Paul Gauguin Cruises. This is today's sunrise as the stunning ship is bound for the Marquesas. The Cruise Expert page will provide regular updates on his adventure. #paulgauguincruises

06.01.2022 GREAT GIFT: TAKE GRANDKIDS ON A CRUISE These three photos are some of my grandkids who have enjoyed a cruise or three. I wanted to introduce them to the joy of cruising and travel at a young age. It is the best education a young mind can have. So this Christmas instead of wasting a small fortune on junky gifts, give the Grandkids a cruise. They will always remember it as a highlight of growing up.

05.01.2022 MEDICARE CRUISE SHOCK- THEY WONT COVER AUSTRALIAN VOYAGES!

05.01.2022 CRUISE LINES CANCEL CHINA VISITS Most cruise lines have cancelled China and HK itineraries and banned Chinese nationals until the Coronavirus outbreak ends. It is the only thing they could do. The virus wont effect South Pacific cruises (pictured) so there is no need to panic. However most Vanuatu ports and the Isle of Pines and Loyalty Islands closed up shop which means a lot of rerouting and inevitable disappointment. My advice is to do a lot of handwashing as this seems to... be the best way to avoid it. I would also eat in the dining room rather than the buffet. Hand sanitisers are always available at the buffet but it is amazing how many clowns dont bother as they charge for the food trough. I have cruised to China and if you have had your cruised rerouted to another country...you aint missing much. The pollution was dreadful and it was very dirty. See more

05.01.2022 PACKING FOR THE JOURNEY HOME All the outside decks and pools are closed on Ruby Princess today so Sharon is packing while I give advice (lol). To keep all the o...ld Sea Veterans happy after yesterday's "controversy", (that ain't rough!) the ocean is perfectly calm today with a 3 inch swell. I've only done 100+ cruises so I wouldn't know. Seriously though, I appreciate all your comments and feedback, please ask me any questions about Ruby P and I'll do my best to answer, thanks Dallas #thecruiseexpert #australiancruisemagazine #maturetravellers See more

03.01.2022 CRUISING AMAZING TAHITI ON BOARD THE PAUL GAUGUIN (From The Mature Traveller Michael Osborne on board the ship) I am relaxing on board the Paul Gauguin looking out across the sparkling island waters of the Marquesas as write this story for you. It has been a week to remember as our small group of adventurers is guided around the isolated islands of Tahiti in complete luxury. Friendly staff, French style cuisine, a great photo at every turn, unrushed, unhurried lifestyles smil...es galore...it truly is a cruise everyone should undertake at least once in a lifetime. Apart from the superb experience of cruising on such a beautiful ship, the highlight for me so far was visiting the resting place of the legendary post impressionist artist Paul Gauguin. He lived his final years on Hiva Oa and died in 1903. His grave is a simple design but just being there was very special to me and my fellow passengers. I would like to share some photos with you which show the grave, the ship and the views. For more information on the cruises #paulgauguincruises #thematuretraveller See more

03.01.2022 BOOK A CRUISE FOR JUST $1 AND PAY LATER I've done this and it works out well. Gives you an incentive to save money and also gives you something exciting to look forward to when you are working hard.

02.01.2022 RUBY PRINCESS NEARING AUCKLAND The weather has turned cooler and the sea has picked up as we near Auckland on Ruby. Auckland is 12 degrees today, a long way fr...om the 40+ degrees we had in LA. AM: Everyone is breaking out jackets and jumpers and it's pouring rain. PM: It has fined up but the sea is rough. Could be a wild night on board. #thecruiseexpert #australiancruisemagazine See more

02.01.2022 CRUISING IN 2020 IS NOW VERY UNLIKELY Royal Carribean has suspended all cruising down under until the end of 2020. The further suspension of cruising was announ...ced in a short, sharp announcement today. It now seems Aussies won't be cruising until some time next year as the industry recovers and revamps after COVID 19 wreaks havoc. See more

02.01.2022 WHAT IS YOUR DREAM CRUISE? I would love to do Sydney to London and return. Great way to visit Europe without flying. I am sure the Cruise industry will be looking at new itineraries after the success of longer cruises which sell out fairly quickly. Please let me know yours.

02.01.2022 CRUISES WITHOUT PORTS THE MOST LIKELY Heard a little whisper today that cruises without ports may be the most likely scenario for a resumption. So you would be 4, 8 or 10.days at sea cruising scenic areas but not touching land. I know, fuel and food are a problem to be overcome. So my question is:-who would go and how long would you go for?
