25.01.2022 8 HABITS THAT RUIN YOUR TEETH Many habits on our list are more obvious; however, did you know that brushing too soon after eating can actually damage your teeth? If you brush your teeth straight after consuming acidic foods and beverages you can erode your tooth enamel. You should rinse your mouth with water and wait an hour before brushing your teeth.... Many daily activities can wear down your teeth and cause irreversible damage. In many cases, it is possible to reduce the impact your lifestyle has on the health of your teeth and gums http://thedentalplace.com.au//8-habits-that-ruin-your-tee/

25.01.2022 Did you know that there is a link between your oral health and total body health?. Thats why it is important that you visit your dentist and hygienist within the recommended time frame (as part of your individualised hygiene program). A hygiene appointment is not just cleaning teeth. When you see our hygienists, Kimberley and Ronnie are treating your gums to help reduce the risk of gum infection spreading as best as they possibly can.... Gum disease is a silent disease. You wont know you have it until the damage is done. Certain chronic diseases and stressors can fast-track gum disease. 25.01.2022 Corona Virus- Staying safe together The safety of our patients, our team and the wider community is our number one priority. During this time, we wish to inform you that:... We have not recently returned overseas from high risk areas We ALWAYS use universal precautions and will continue to maintain the highest levels of infection control, as always. To the best of our knowledge, we have not been exposed. When it specifically comes to the front office area and patient bathroom, we will continue to use additional disinfection protocols (as we always have) such as wiping down and disinfecting surfaces and having antibacterial gel available for patients to use. We have implemented this well before the COVID-19 outbreak as additional measures in the way that we operate We are keeping a close watch on the latest reports & regulations that are being issued by the government & will follow these recommendations as they come through. We are asking patients over the phone about their risk status before attending their appointment. We ask that 1. If you have recently travelled overseas 2. Have flu-like symptoms 3. Have been in contact with someone with a diagnosed and known case of COVID-19. ..that you stay at home and do not attend your dental appointment. Additionally, we also ask that you use antibacterial gel for your hands that is available before approaching the front office desk and after your dental appointment At present, we are continuing with our usual hours. Thank you for your understanding during these unprecedented times. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us on 9460 7070 Dr Stephen Iskander and team at The Dental Place

16.01.2022 Today is R U OK? Day It’s our national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, Are you OK? Three words that can make ...a difference to someone’s life. 'THERE'S MORE TO SAY AFTER R U OK?' 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even more important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us. In the lead-up to R U OK?Day we’ll help Australians know what to say when someone says they’re not OK and guide them through how they can continue a conversation that could change a life. You don’t have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says they’re not OK. By knowing what to say you can help someone feel supported and access appropriate help long before they’re in crisis, which can make a really positive difference to their life. **RUOK day is a big day for all of us here at Northpark. Pancake breakfast, cupcakes and fruit salad, mindfulness sessions through the day and more!! All of this taking place whilst very carefully adhering to all government covid guidelines. Cupcakes and pancakes carefully served by one kitchen staff member using tongs. Limited number of people in a room at any one time. We take Covid very seriously here but we weren’t going to let it squash our fun completely. #ruokday2020

01.01.2022 Have you ever wondered why visiting the dentist for an examination and hygiene at least once every 6 months is so important? 60-80% of the adult population are living with gum disease, ranging from gingivitis to advanced periodontitis. Gum disease can progress and lead to bad breath, loose or falling out teeth, dissolved gums and jaw bone, and an impact on overall health. Visiting every 6 months (at a minimum) for hygiene appointments is usually just in time so that we ...can attempt to reduce the risk of infection in gums from spreading. Where there is advanced progression of gum disease, you may need to come back much sooner than every 6 months. General health can impact immunity which, in turn, impacts the level of bacteria in the mouth . Gum disease can be triggered or advance and previous healthy statuses may change. Attending examination and hygiene visits helps to prevent the progression of gum disease, further problems and expensive dental treatment in the future. Make sure to call us on 9460 7070 to arrange your next examination and hygiene appointment.
