22.01.2022 On my way to my fav coffee house, I decided its time to start my Career Chat over Coffee. Its been 18 months since my last one where I share job search tips to help you stay on track with your career goals. I usually do a live video but today Ill write... 2020 marks a fresh direction for me after a year of life changes. These past few months Ive been strength building. Im in good shape health wise and have been taking a more mindful approach to the important things - na...mely family and friends. - My son started year 11 and Im committed to supporting him through the next two years of VCE. - Im feeling more present, calm and thankful for the friends in my life. - Im doing joyful things that nurture my soul - guitar, singing, roller skating and ukelele. With The Good Life Careers, Im getting out and about in Bendigo. I have an office there for client meetings and Ive just joined Be.Bendigo (business networking group). In the past few weeks, Ive received news from four (4) different clients I worked with last year. They each shared the wonderful news that they had been offered their ideal role. The common link between the four women is that they were all after a role that was at their level (not settling for less) and closer to home. Now they are an easy drive away from their work and doing what they love! Looking forward to supporting more amazing people this year towards landing their dream job. Cheers, Gen

20.01.2022 Hey there! As a career coach in Castlemaine, Im continuing to support job seekers to build up their skills and confidence to find work. Im happy to report that people are finding work. Its just taking a bit longer and a lot of effort. Its a tricky time with a significant drop in job vacancies due to recruitment freezes, downsizing and offering less or no shifts due to current restrictions. Im going to share weekly HOT TIPS for Job Seekers as a prompt to things you could ...do right now. Ive started a radio show with Angela Mitten from @chrysaliscounselling called Mind Ya Head (MainFm Weds 9am-10am) and also share these tips on air. Cheers, Gen

18.01.2022 Introducing Natalie Dowling. Natalie is studying sound healing and yesterday I experienced her wondrous expertise in a sound bath. *NB water free. After setting my intention for the session I lay down comfortably, shut my eyes and my body welcomed the sounds created by bowls, drums, gongs, rattles, koshi bells and tuning forks. *Not all at once! Natalie also used her voice and with the drums I felt a powerful force run through my shoulders and neck. ... We debriefed afterwards with a cup of spearmint tea. Ahhhhh. I slept peacefully last night and woke feeling a real shift in my upper body and my heart felt open. I've known Natalie for some years through the business community and I recently interviewed her for our radio show Mind Ya Head on mainFM. Natalie is offering free sound healing sessions for friends and friends of connections til the end of the year. You can find Nat on her socials @wanderintowildness and more information+ how to book. #soundhealing #holistichealth #mindandbody #wellbeing #shiftingemotions #selfcare

16.01.2022 Hello Melbourne town. I love to visit and dip my toe into corporate life. One client meeting, a team debrief then EOFY lunch. Winning all round. @ Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

16.01.2022 In the end, there are only three things that matter: How much you loved, how gratefully you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you. --Buddha #dontsweatthesmallstuff #gratitude #loveandpeace #grace #mindfulness

14.01.2022 First impressions count when youre looking for work and running a business. When youre clear of your message and know your value, its important to be seen by your connections (friends, networks, colleagues and potential employers) as confident, smart and professional. This needs to flow across all your comms - LinkedIn and other socials, your resume and cover letter. Even your email (address, your style of language and sign off). Theres some great blogs on the www that ...give tips on personal styling to give you some outfit ideas. #dressforsuccess #newyearnewjob #firstimpressions #careerchange #personalbranding See more

14.01.2022 More local job openings...

14.01.2022 Im heading off to a networking event tomorrow at the (new) Williamson Street Business Centre in Bendigo. I read this article today which talks about building networks, yet hints at networking drink events being ineffective because everyone is focusing on his or her agenda. There are links to other articles with other ways to get the most out of networking such as hosting a networking dinner with your current networks so you can nurture those relationships. Ill pop these ...links in the comments too. Im feeling positive about tomorrow night. Ill be car pooling with two other Castlemaine business women. Im looking forward to catching up with three other Bendigo business friends who are attending. Theres always an organic unfolding at these events and I have found that turning up, having good conversations with one or two people has proven to be worthwhile. Ill keep you posted! https://hbr.org//build-a-network-even-when-you-dont-think-

14.01.2022 Good morning. Its Gen here, checking in. These past 6 - 8 weeks Ive been busy coaching job seekers whose jobs have been impacted by Covid. I took a break yesterday to go shopping with a friend. Treated myself to these lovely PJs. Ive been conscious at these times to continue spending and supporting my local shops, cafes and restaurants. Im lucky my job hasnt been impacted too much and I can help people with the skills to find work. Its a slower process but not unachi...evable. A couple of my clients have secured jobs and my career coaching colleagues report they have had successes with people finding work. My top tips are: - be clear and realistic about the type of work youre seeking - have a pitch ready about what youre looking for, so friends and networks know how they might help you - build a strong biz relationship with a recruiter in your industry and stay in touch - be active on LinkedIn - set up a profile on Seek - do a little bit each day (say two hours) on job search activity and the rest of the day for other things!

Keep checking job search sites and network for any leads. I looked at Seek.com.au this morning for jobs in the Bendigo/ Goldfields/Macedon region. Yes, there are many cleaning and personal care jobs in community services and health care. Theres also jobs in IT and retail. Heres my top 3 picks for today:... Drake (Bendigo) is wanting to build up their temp pool for people to hit the ground running with temporary contracts. 12.01.2022 A week to go til the Awards Night! Cant wait. :)

12.01.2022 Each day when I notice beauty or have a joyful experience I try to hold onto this feeling as long as I can. I mindfully sit with the sense of pleasure it brings. This is called taking in the good, a concept researched by psychologist Dr Rick Hanson who wrote Hardwiring Happiness. This book shows how to transform the simple positive experiences of daily life into neural structures that promote lasting health, contentment, love and inner peace. #happiness #mindfulness #posit...ivity #thegoodlife #mentalhealth #wellbeing #innerpeace See more

09.01.2022 Heres a job ad for a Part Time Admin in Bendigo...

09.01.2022 Just a quick note to keep checking Seek, Indeed, Linked, and other job search sites. Businesses are still advertising and its not ALL food production, healthcare, cleaners and call centres. (Though theres quite a few ads for these roles. In particular Suncorp in Gisborne is hiring inbound customer service staff). I looked up Seek this morning and filtered to Bendigo, Goldfields, Macedon Ranges. Theres jobs for accountants, admin, COO, producer (ABC), arts cultural officer ...(Moorabool Arts) and human resources. Mount Alexander Shire continue to hire. Heres a job for Manager, Student Success at Kangan Institute/Bendigo Tafe. Now is the time to strengthen your resume, apply for jobs and see how you go. If youre unsure about what the world of work may look like, and question whether to apply, remember it can be a fact finding process and a decision is only made when a job offer is presented. Go on, throw your hat in the ring!

03.01.2022 Heres my Hot Tips for Job Seekers that I share on my weekly Mainfm radio show Mind Ya Head. 1. Being fast and proactive is essential. If you see a job advertised, get your application in pronto. Sometimes companies take the job ad down once they have enough applicants. 2. Be sure to stand out, know your Unique Value Proposition, exactly what you offer and how you can solve a companys current problems. And state this in your cover letter and your resume.... 3. If your mindset is right and you focus and persevere, you will achieve what you set out to achieve. Theres some great motivational speakers with free online resources such as Mel Robbins and Lorraine Murphy . . . #jobsearch #careercoach #motivation #perserverance #getthatjob #resume

This celebratory dinner was the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends I hadnt seen for awhile and feel a sense of unity in our business successes. Whilst I didnt scoop up the trophy for my category I had prepared a speech just in case. Ive shared it on my website because I still feel like a winner Enjoy! Gen
