17.01.2022 Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) spreads between people, usually when a sick person coughs or sneezes. We all have an important role to play in protecting ourselves and those around us. Follow our guide below

16.01.2022 Let's talk about GRAPES! It’s a well known fact that whole grapes are a dangerous choking hazard for babies, toddlers and young children! The size and shape of ...grapes means that they can completely plug a child's airway. The tight seal produced by the grape's smooth surface makes them difficult to dislodge with standard first aid techniques. Young children are particularly vulnerable to choking on a grape because: They don't have a full set of teeth and are still learning to chew properly. Their swallow reflex is still developing. Their airway is very small. This handy image shows just how to slice them so that they are safe to eat - slice in half lengthways and ideally into quarters. NEVER in half widthways! Same goes for olives, cherry tomatoes and large blueberries! Please help us raise awareness

08.01.2022 IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR FAMILIES WHO HAVE A CHILD ENROLLED IN CHILD CARE: Whether you’ve lost your job or are keeping your child home to prevent the spread of cor...onavirus, please don’t un-enrol your child. If you’ve lost your job or are working reduced hours, there’s financial support you can access. Please don’t just pull your child out of care. To access financial support, log on to MyGov and apply for temporary financial hardship (see below screenshot). This means the government may pay your childcare fees IN FULL for 13 weeks. If you’re choosing to keep your child home, the government has extended the number of allowable absences that can be covered by the Child Care Subsidy (CCS). This may support you to keep your child home and still receive the CCS. Remember, keeping your child enrolled will help your child care service to continue paying educators. It will also ensure that your child care service doesn’t go bankrupt and that you can return to work when our economy is ready to get back on track.

06.01.2022 A little food for thought in the midst of the panic that has arisen over the past couple days. Many people are feeling like these new recommended practices such... as social distancing, mask-wearing, vigorous hand washing, and quarantine are new ways of life but this is the way patients with chronic illness who are susceptible to infection, particularly CF, have been living their entire lives. Although this time is scary and anxiety-provoking, we are hopeful that a positive change can result in the way society holds the importance of public health measures. We can all work as a team to keep each other healthy everyday, whether it be COVID-19 or whatever novel virus comes next. Maintaining these practices even after the panic is over will help prevent something like this from hopefully ever happening again. So if a CF fighter feels like this every day, imagine how they are feeling now? They are in the group of existing health conditions that may be subject to a worse prognosis. In the coming days, instead of just focusing on how to protect ourselves let’s also work together on how we can protect the vulnerable too. Public health is truly a team effort and no one person can fix this alone. Please stay safe and take measures seriously for not only yourselves but all of the vulnerable out there. Remember that is someone’s loved one or family and this is very real. We are in this together!

02.01.2022 Imagine your child upside down in their seat and their seat violently shaken around... Ask yourself... would my child stay safely in their seat?
