25.01.2022 Verden: FEI WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championship for Young Horses cancelled Current planning uncertainty makes cancellation necessary Verden (fn-press). The FEI WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championship for Young Horses should have taken place in Verden from December 9th to 13th. The best five-, six- and seven-year-old horses from all over the world were to compete there. But it is precisely the international nature of the Championships that makes it impossible to hold...Continue reading

24.01.2022 Why and how you need to let your horse stretch: He will maintain the rhythm, engagement and roundness of the pace only altering his outline; although the exercise itself will affect the horse's entire body. It is a little like a chain reaction because, as the horse lowers his neck, he stretches and relaxes those muscles and as the neck muscles are connected to the back muscles, he also stretches and relaxes this set, and through them, the muscles in his hindquarters. As the muscles become free of tension and elongate, the horse is able to move with a soft, swinging back and rounded outline. https://www.horsemagazine.com//showing-the-horse-the-way-/

21.01.2022 It's the final building block of Dressage - High School. Paul Belasik explains: "In the High School, we see the horse and rider in a land of maximums. Maximum extended gaits, maximum collected gaits, highest quality straightness, and highest quality turns. There are pinnacles of dexterity and control in executions of two and one tempi flying changes." More https://www.horsemagazine.com//high-school-the-final-buil/

20.01.2022 Frankfurt: Kein Festhallenturnier 2020 Wie schade! Foto: Lafrentz

16.01.2022 George Morris tells us rider position matters to all riders: The first thing is rider position, because position puts you in the place on the horse to use the aids. If your leg is too far back, you can’t talk to the horse’s haunch. The first thing is where are you sitting? Where is your hand? Where is your seat? Then talk about aids, because aids are increments of pressure position, contact, increments of pressure with your seat, with your leg, with your hand, with your upper body but first, where are you sitting?" https://www.horsemagazine.com//top-tip-george-morris-talk/

15.01.2022 Balance Your Horse’s Nutrition Many performance horses can suffer from deficiencies of important trace minerals and vitamins, even when their diet adequately meets energy and protein levels. Meeting the trace-mineral and vitamin needs relative to your horse’s weight and exercise workload is essential for athletic performance, health, the immune system and overall physiological function. Another reason why supplements are important for our Aussie horses is that our soils, gra...ss and hay are often deficient in minerals such as selenium, copper, iodine, zinc and calcium. This can have a big impact on how your horse feels, looks and performs. A washed out, dull or dry coat, irritable, tired and lacklustre performance, are the common signs of low or inadequate micronutrient intake. Even other symptoms, such as repeated bouts of skin infection, colds or lameness may indicate a problem with the nutritional balance in your horse’s daily feed. Boost your horse’s coat condition, gloss and shine, plus improve stamina and strength by selecting a quality Kohnke’s Own supplement, specially formulated for Australian conditions. Meeting the daily recommended requirements of all trace-minerals and vitamins will help ensure optimum nutrition for competitive performance. The daily requirements of nutrients will increase as training and workload increases, so a specially tailored performance supplement is essential for upper level competition horses and ponies. A top-up supplement containing a comprehensive formulation such as Kohnke’s Own Cell-Perform, can help to balance and fully meet the elevated needs of horses in regular training and competition. 09.01.2022 Have horses and training methods changed? Or do we still have a vision of dear old Xenophon, togged out in the latest Kentucky breeches and Pikeur long boots, mounted on his handsome Hanoverian gelding, warming up long and low but never ever behind the vertical! with the latest Isabell saddle, and using the latest double jointed snaffle as approved by Professor Clayton, working his way through medium advanced in the direction of the FEI levels? https://www.horsemagazine.com//riding-as-art-a-history-of/

08.01.2022 Paul Belasik's series of building blocks has been a hit with our readers - now he tackles the vital topic of collection: Collection naturally grows out of the mastery of the longitudinal field of balance. It is difficult and strenuous and needs a lot of preparation in order to be correct. Modern riders are apt to dismiss Grisone’s advice on the qualities of the backs of horses. When he talks about a back that is firm, steady, flexed, an iron horse, and then the best quality of all, not only firm and flexed and steady but always collects his hindquarters. Today as soon as riders feel the backs of horses firm up, they panic, come up in the rising trot, lower the neck, and are told to ‘ride the horse over the top.’ Read the article https://www.horsemagazine.com//collection-the-fourth-buil/

05.01.2022 "Once the rider has begun to master their own balance on top of the moving horse, he or she is becoming part of a new system where there is no longer one center of mass for the horse and one for the rider; instead they are blending into a new singular animal. They must learn about the horse’s balance, which is usually divided into two fields, the lateral field of balance and the longitudinal field of balance."
