24.01.2022 Hi everyone. We want to let you all know that Bathurst Local Stages are continuing to work towards producing The Persian Queen in October 2020. Although COVID19 has us all "socially distancing", we are working hard behind the scenes so we can be ready to get production up and running as soon as possible. Our plan at this stage is to open up for online auditions in June. We will be posting a lot more information over the coming 2 months so that everyone has all the required information. We hope to post up some recordings of music to pique the interest of potential cast members soon. An audition pack will be available mid May so please keep an eye out for that. Meanwhile, if you require more information please feel free to ask and share our page so that everyone stays in the loop - especially as we ramp things up in a few weeks.

21.01.2022 We had a great workshop on Saturday with a team of performers who will do their best to present the script and music for public review next weekend. Thank you to everyone for your support. We look forward to presenting this for review next Saturday, 22nd June, at 1:30pm at the Church of Christ. Come along if you would like to help provide quality constructive feedback.

20.01.2022 Its been 9 months since our public read through. Time to give birth I think! The script has been re-written, some scenes added/deleted/changed. Our plan now is to present another public reading, but this time we want to include all the music, so we can get quality feedback on the music/songs as well as the script itself. We are looking at a weekend workshop for performers followed by a public reading a week or two later. Looking at some June dates but nothing locked in yet. Let us know if you would like to be actively involved, otherwise just stay posted so you know when to come along and participate in another review session. Thanks for all your support and encouragement.

20.01.2022 A reminder that auditions are now open. Message us for your audition pack. If you cant submit a recording please contact us and we will make a face-to-face appointment for you. Remember to submit your JotForm - https://eur01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/

15.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who attended our public reading on Saturday. What valuable feedback we received! We are now in the process of rewriting a couple of scenes to incorporate the insights gained from Saturdays reading. We very much value the support of Bathurst Local Stages and our many friends and students who are helping make this a reality. Stay tuned for our next update.

15.01.2022 Over the next week or two we will be adding little videos to help you get to know the main characters featured in The Persian Queen. This video introduces the villain, Haman (pronounced ha-MARN).

15.01.2022 We are thrilled that Local Stages have invited us to do a "read-through" of The Persian Queen at their gathering on 7th July. This is open to the public and is a great opportunity for us to receive valuable feedback before we move towards preparing for production. If you are interested in coming along, you are more than welcome, but please RSVP so Kylie knows how many people to expect.

14.01.2022 Hear about evil Zeresh and listen to a snippet of one of her songs.

14.01.2022 Just to keep everyone in the loop - back in June we presented the script to an audience of 25, who provided us with a huge amount of constructive feedback. We have been working hard at assessing and re-writing script and music and plan on having the final script finished within the next couple of weeks. We will then be sharing this script with others from the Jewish community to get some important and valuable cultural feedback. The big news is that we are now working to a timeline - it is planned that The Persian Queen will be performed at BMEC Bathurst in October 2020, with the valuable support of Bathurst Local Stages. Stay tuned for more information as it comes to hand.

12.01.2022 Another song for you to listen to. This is the big song that kicks off the show. Incorporates circus choreography, paints Xerxes as a bit of a clown, Haman as a manipulator, Memucan riding a unicycle and Hegai as a juggler. Imagination overload. http://youtu.be/fiDtfesy37Y?hd=1

12.01.2022 Meet the character Mordecai, who is the adoptive father of Esther, and hear part of a song he sings.

11.01.2022 The Persian Queen is the musical Phil and I have been working on for many years. Getting down to the nitty-gritty now. Hoping for some quality feedback at a public presentation in June sometime. If youre interested please like this page so you can stay up to date with developments.

09.01.2022 Here is our first attempt at getting one of our songs on YouTube so people can hear the music. A bit rough, but hopefully it will give you an idea of the type of music we are writing. http://youtu.be/nwIaW4qyv70?hd=1

08.01.2022 The Caged Nightingale is a beautiful song shared between Esther and Samireh. It contrasts Esthers fear of being married to the King, with Samirehs joy of her new husband and desire to start a family.
