22.01.2022 I just finished listening to this on Audible and highly recommend any ex military people now working in the film industry and who may want to wright their own screen plays or direct their own films one day check it out. Oliver Stone volunteered for service in Vietnam as an Infantryman and this is a candid account of his early days trying to make it in the film industry after that experience. Told from a grunts perspective and narrated by the man himself on Audible. It covers his formative years as a screen writer for films including Midnight Express and Scarface, to his battle to direct a film he had written based on his own experiences which would eventually become Platoon. In my opinion one of the most authentic portrayals of Infantrymen at war.

06.01.2022 A great interview with Canadian Film Armourer, Charlie Taylor. It's a rare opportunity to hear about the technical aspects of blank fire weapons as a lot of Film Armourers can be very secretive about the tricks of their trade. It's a lot more complicated than loading blanks and pulling the trigger. I encourage any film maker considering using blank fire weapons to watch this and please don't try to attempt utilising blank fire weapons on set that aren't being supplied by a su...itably qualified and licensed Film Armourer. Unfortunately we don't receive the same support from our government as they do in Canada, which makes meeting the needs of Australian films more difficult than it should be.
