25.01.2022 A nurse told me she'd like to die from Dementia. In many ways she's right. My father passed away peacefully with no fear. I cleaned out his room at the nursing home and found: Some old photos.... A box of worthless, yet obviously sentimental assorted keepsakes. Some well-worn clothes. A watch. An electric razor. A basic cell phone. Crosswords. As his memory, once so obsessively sharp became crippled by advancing Dementia at 86, a collection of memories - some garbled, others crystal-clear, like they happened yesterday, appeared and disappeared in a juggling act. They were recounted to us with no filter, sideways and out of chronological order like the photos posted below. When individuals who have seen another, unimaginable era and survived the Holocaust are gone - and that has nearly happened, their testimonials and photographs will be all that remains. That's why their experiences need to be documented and the world needs to know their stories so we learn and never repeat the mistakes of the past. He lived because a stranger saved him and his parents when he was 11. The rest of the huge family were murdered in the Warsaw Ghetto and Treblinka. If more strangers had saved more 11-year-olds perhaps 6 million wouldn't have been exterminated like vermin. Im writing a movie and developing a social impact campaign around the little-known Chiune Sugihara who saved 6,000 Jews including my father, because the world should know of such acts, be swayed from anti Semitic tendencies, and so we can be the voice of those who no longer have one. Its our duty. To help me educate a new generation please click the link below and share it with whomever you feel it could resonate: https://australianculturalfund.org.au//the-saviour-featur/ #holocaust #antisemitism #movies #cinema #education

23.01.2022 Today is the anniversary of my grandmothers passing. A beautiful and smart woman who was Miss Warsaw Judea 1926 and studying law until restrictions prohibited it. A seductive woman who, at 30, bribed a German officer to get her and her son out of Nazi-occupied Poland;... Left both adoring parents and an extended family and never saw them again; Made a new life in Australia, compartmentalised her trauma like other Holocaust survivors and drank vodka, danced on tables, lived life to the fullest and poured every ounce of her love into her three grandchildren. I am honouring her and the brave man who saved my family and 6,000 others in film. 23.01.2022 Having celebrated Mothers Day and looking at the lives of my three children in their 20s, living through history at present in a crazy time; and currently writing about a brave young woman in her 20s who defies authority to help save another at a similarly crazy time: Heres to one hell of a gutsy 21 year old girl I recently read about: Sophia Magdalena Scholl was a German student and anti-Nazi political activist, active within the White Rose non-violent resistance group i...n Nazi Germany. She was convicted of high treason - her crime? Distributing anti-war leaflets at the University of Munich with her brother. Her last words before being executed in 1943: How can we expect righteousness to prevail when there is hardly anyone willing to give himself up individually to a righteous cause? Such a fine sunny day and I must go, but what does my death matter if through us, thousands of people are awakened and stirred to action. History shows us thousands weren't stirred and millions were exterminated. What a truly incredible and selfless individual. May her dear young soul rest in peace for eternity. Lets not let her execution at 21 be in vain. If youd like to find out about the movie im writing inspired by the Righteous Gentile - a Japanese diplomat who WAS stirred to act saving 6,000 Jews and to whom I owe my life, and help educate the world on tolerance and antisemitism visit https://australianculturalfund.org.au//the-saviour-featur/ #holocaust #cinema #germany

22.01.2022 This dear little fellow, Hungarian Istvan Reiner- 4 years old, obliviously laughed and played while being photographed shortly before deportation to the infamous Auschwitz concentration camp in 1944. Winona Ryder has revealed she was asked by Mel Gibson if she was an oven dodger. Thanks Winona for letting the media know. It brings to the worlds attention his sickening phraseology to describe Holocaust victims and Jews and the extent he'll go to with his highly offensive,... unfiltered, antisemitic mouth. Hopefully it's damaged his reputation and career yet again. Hopefully this time beyond repair. This little boy never saw his 5th birthday. Like 6 million others, he was not able to dodge the oven, being gassed and incinerated immediately after his arrival to Auschwitz. Children served no purpose so suffered the greatest casualties. May his beautiful little soul rest in peace. May Mel Gibsons not. Ever. Mel has 9 children...... My family was wiped out. I believe the way to quell anti semitism is through the power of education. Cinema has immense reach and impact on a global population. Please see what I am developing and help me to see it come true. Every Holocaust-themed movie opens up dialogue. I hope mine will on tolerance, antisemitism and generational trauma; together with a planned social impact campaign to go into schools worldwide. I will put every cent of my profit (if any.....) back into Holocaust education. My goal on this planet. 20.01.2022 So I'm being asked the definition of Righteous Among Nations as I often use the term. It refers to non-Jewish individuals who have been honoured by Israels Holocaust memorial for risking their lives to save Jews during the Holocaust. The 4 criteria a candidate must possess to earn the title are:... The rescuer must have been actively involved in saving Jews from the threat of death or deportation to concentration camps. He/she must have risked their own life or liberty in their attempt to save Jews. The original motive for rescue must have been to protect/save Jews from the Holocaust. There must be first-hand testimony from those rescued to verify the individual's role in the rescue. If testimony doesnt exist/cannot be found, there must be irrefutable documentation of the individual's participation in the rescue and conditions surrounding it. Yad Vashem outlines 4 ways these individuals helped the Jewish community: 1) By hiding Jews in the rescuer's home and providing food and necessities while in hiding. 2) Some obtained false papers/identities for those they saved. 3) Some rescuers helped Jews escape Nazi occupied territory to safety. 4) Others saved children after their parents had gone to concentration camps/ been killed. Im alive as are 100,000 others because of one such incredible human being. Chiune Sugihara. I wish to immortalise him through the power and reach of film. 20.01.2022 In case you missed it some months back- For anyone who is interested in WWII history this is my late father at 80 years old recounting his very lucky (hair-raising) escape with my grandmother from Nazi-occupied Poland in December, 1939. She was a very smart and beautiful woman who had a way with men, which she clearly (fortunately) used to her advantage.... (Please excuse the background noise, its an amateur video shot st my sons barmitzvah; and a few errors in the translation from my fathers mouth to subtitles). My father got to tell his story. For the 6 million whose 6 million stories died with them its the duty of us descendants to ensure the world never forgets the few that endured. For details about the movie I am writing to honour the Righteous Gentile Chiune Sugihara who saved his life and 6,000 others and to support me visit: https://australianculturalfund.org.au//the-saviour-featur/ And: thesaviourmovie.com #holocaust #poland #cinema #antisemitism

19.01.2022 What went wrong in some post-war marriages? Aug 21 1955. It was all so seemingly perfect.... The pretty, petite English girl. The tall, handsome Polish guy. What do you know as a girl at 21? In love with the thought of love, the fairytale. Marriage, babies, picket fences. Do you know what you want? Who you are marrying? Post-World War II. Putting bad times behind and focussing on the future. Refugees partnered up. Brought their trauma with them into unions. Holocaust Survivors gravitated toward each other. They understood what the other had gone through. It didn't make for ideal child-rearing ability. But they somehow muddled through and often unknowingly transferred that baggage to their offspring. My parents were never going to make it. My father was carrying complex damage and my mother - saved from horror in the relative safety of wartime London, too naive, young and indulged to comprehend her husband. And busy with 3 young children. Playing happy family for appearances. They ultimately divorced. Found other late-life partners. Have our generation fared any better? Generational trauma from the Holocaust and family dynamics are themes were exploring at great length as we borrow from real life and forge ahead with our scriptwriting. Its something we feel has yet to be thoroughly addressed in cinema Want to be involved? 19.01.2022 Movies have reach that no other medium does; and teach us things in an entertaining and captivating way more impactful and memorable than if we were to research ourselves. Here is the cut-down recording of our first live stream movie information evening in place of the event we were to hold before the world went crazy If you care about the dramatic global escalation in anti-semitism and youd like to help me educate the next generation on tolerance of all faiths and speak ...up for those who were murdered and no longer have a voice, please watch our short presentation below and then go to https://australianculturalfund.org.au//the-saviour-featur/ For more information. Thank you so much for your time. Please share.

18.01.2022 The world waits and hopes for a COVID vaccine. Case numbers peak and trough. But one thing remains constant. There will never be a cure for antisemitism. ... And as riots plague an already vulnerable US population, the crowd turns yet again to lay the blame for their economic/social woes on a scapegoat. Heres my great grandfather in the Warsaw Ghetto. He perished. This was the last photo that made it out in June 1942. He chose a nice one so as not to worry my grandmother. Hes clean and not yet emaciated. The other photos are generic ones. I always find myself scouring the faces to catch one last glimpse of any of my other great grandparents. Uncles, aunts. They were all murdered. The antidote to hatred is education. Times are tough for most. But if you or anyone you know can assist me in seeing my Film venture somehow to fruition, please reach out or pass on the link to my website. thesaviourmovie.com and my crowdfunding not for profit platform https://australianculturalfund.org.au//the-saviour-featur/ Which is tax deductible for Aussies. Every single dollar is so significant. Id be most grateful. Id like to open up dialogue on tolerance, antisemitism, the Holocaust and trauma. 18.01.2022 On this Day - April 20 in 1889 Adolf Hitler was born. Strangely, Holocaust Remembrance Day this year falls today - the same day. A grim reminder of how one man can change the world. Hundreds of my relatives went to the gas chambers.... Like so many of my People my family tree is devoid of leaves. Help me to grow tolerance and acceptance. Remember not only the 6 million Jewish souls he murdered, but the other 6 million he found unacceptable - homosexuals, Gypsies, disabled, disfigured, intellectually challenged and the like. #holocaust #antisemitism #wwii #history #jewish #religion #hitler

18.01.2022 It cant get more personal for me. My family was murdered in Auschwitz and Treblinka. Spielberg talks about the 25 year Anniversary re-release of Schindlers List in 2018 and its relevance today as opposed to 25 years ago, due to the sharp rise in antisemitism and the vital role cinema plays in education by opening up dialogue. With the current unrest in the world its even more pertinent. This is what I wish for my movie in development about the man who saved 6,000 desperate... Jews from the Holocaust, including my family. To educate and encourage tolerance and understanding. But Im not Spielberg. It's just me and two talented, dedicated co-writers. Please help us in our quest. These are challenging times for everyone. Every single dollar is significant and will get us closer to attracting a Spielberg and realising our dream. A movie script costs around $1 per word. 300 words per page. 100 pages per draft. 3-4 scripts (drafts) minimum. I have self-funded for 5 years as this is a passion project. If I were to ever see any profit it will ALL be put straight back into Holocaust education. My husbands father went through Auschwitz. 18.01.2022 Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. The resulting piece is meant to be even more alluring than the original. The notion of fixing a broken piece and creating something better and more precious by honouring and incorporating its flaws is a theme we are investigating as we write a movie about a fractured father/daughter relationship that - with some atten...tion and care; and intervention from a Japanese man, results in a much-needed reconciliation from which a meaningful connection can be forged. Everyone is flawed. But can you fix someone who is broken? Do they become a better version of their original self - Or are some souls beyond repair? Life can be cruel. 17.01.2022 On the 30th April 1842 a Dutch Woman named Klara Engelsman was born. She was sent to Westerbork Concentration camp in March 1944 - to the camp hospital. Her crime? This threatening dear old soul? Being born Jewish. She celebrated her 102nd birthday there. She survived a further 7 months, only to be murdered on October 12th 1944, in #Auschwitz. ... She was the oldest Holocaust victim from the Netherlands and possibly the oldest from anywhere. Remembering her with all the victims slaughtered simply because they followed the Jewish faith. Follow me in my quest to help educate a new generation against blind hatred, commencing with a movie about a man who chose to do what was right during the Holocaust when most turned the other way, saving 6,000 Jews. A man I owe my life to. I need the help of every Jew worldwide. Its our duty for those who no longer have a voice. Like Klara. Please. 17.01.2022 On this day 79 years ago, June 24, 1941 - Nazis Wehrmacht entered both Kaunas and Vilnius without a fight. The tragedy of Lithuanian Jewry started. 95% were murdered. Chiune Sugihara, the Japanese diplomat stationed in Kaunas between 1938 and September 1940 illegally issued transit visas to Japan to 6,000 desperate Jewish refugees fleeing persecution. He worked tirelessly day and night for 6 weeks before being forced to close his consulate and leave the country. If not for hi...s incredible act, defying the orders of his government not to do so, I would not be alive. Below are the names of my father and grandparents on both Sugihara's list of visa recipients and the Lithuanian Refugee list from 1940. I am developing a movie inspired by this. Please help me honour this Righteous Gentile the way Oskar Schindler has been. Every single dollar is truly significant and will be honoured with a movie credit. Im not Spielberg - Im the only one driving the bus..... but Im trying! See thesaviourmovie.com #writing #cinema #holocaust #antisemitism #trauma

16.01.2022 My most emotional post to date. Today I was granted access to the files at the National Archives Of Australia containing documents they had scanned when my father and grandparents arrived to Australia in 1941, for the purposes of naturalisation. Amongst them the document pictured below. Lost for 79 years, we never knew where the visas from 2 Righteous Gentiles - Japanese and Dutch, which saved them from Hitler had gone. ... We finally know. Now all I have to do is convince the Federal Government that they are of no value to them but priceless to my family, and to release them to me...... Thank you to Judy Wilkenfeld for guiding me in the right direction and unlocking a vault of documents never before viewed. thesaviourmovie.com

12.01.2022 How do I know all my great grandparents were gassed at Treblinka Concentration Camp on August 20 1942? (Correction - one was murdered prior for helping an old lady to cross the street). With millions being transported in filthy cattle cars without identification, belongings? Thanks to German efficiency, of course.... Below is the decree posted on the wall of the Warsaw Ghetto which I located in the museum in Warsaw. When I saw their address listed which I knew from letters that my father had (see below) it all became too chilling, too real. More real than the visits to Auschwitz. Because it was MY family. My history. My loved ones. (Pictured are my great grandfathers- one wearing the Star of David armband.) When you break the millions down to single digits and give them an identity - that's when you can comprehend the magnitude of the loss to 6 million different families. Just like the COVID19 losses happening now. Statistics to politicians. Heartbreaking to families. And that's when you understand the magnitude of your father being saved by one brave, selfless individual and that, being the reason you are alive. An individual I am honouring in film. Help me realise my ambition. Visit: thesaviourmovie.com #cinema #holocaust #screenwriting

12.01.2022 In 1940 a father of 4 young children risked his and their lives by defying the orders of his government to save 6,000 Jewish refugees from being murdered by Hitlers regime. My father and his parents were among them. Recently I was fortunate to join 300 fellow descendants to hear his only surviving son speak about his fathers bravery in New York. We are pictured below. Life is a precious commodity. I am here as are my children because my father lived. He was able to see impo...rtant life events before his death at 87, as I have - to see my children grow into lovely young adults. We need to cherish life and learn lessons during hardships such as this pandemic, about what matters most. Not travel, not possessions, not money. Simply life. And the luxury to live it. I'm currently dedicating mine to perpetuate this mans memory in film so the world can learn about him and from him. 11.01.2022 On this day in 1942 the Nazis began "Grossaktion Warschau" - the deportation and mass murder of Jews from the Warsaw Ghetto which went for 2 months. 5000-6000 Jews were assembled per day at the Umschlagplatz and herded onto overcrowded cattle cars whose final destination was Treblinka concentration camp where they died in gas chambers on arrival and were incinerated. Some 265,000 Jews died as a result of Grossaktion Warschau, including 3 of my 4 paternal great grandparents. ...One was murdered months earlier. Here is one to put a name/face to a number. Its easier that way. Like with COVID statistics. Meaningless unless they're personalised. And they're your blood. Its my paternal great grandfather - Szmerko Sput. In the ghetto. Before he perished. 1941. The last photo that made it out. And me at the grave my grandfather erected in 1946 that I restored, and represents all 4 great grandparents. It's in the cemetery in Warsaw. 71 years on. Let's all remember the other 264,996 + that were murdered during that particular operation... one of thousands of such aktions resulting in 6 million innocent Jewish lives lost and a further 6 million others just as precious. And in a world of riots let's all practice tolerance and acceptance of all faiths. Im trying to educate with a movie inspired by the Righteous Gentile who saved my father. 10.01.2022 Six years ago today, on May 24, 2014, a gunman opened fire at the Jewish Museum of Belgium, killing four innocent people. Four victims of Islamic terrorism and antisemitism. We remember their names and all victims of terrorism.

09.01.2022 What makes us choose a partner? Naturally physical attraction. But that aside. Shared experience?... Shared values? Common interests? Intellect? How did that look post-Holocaust when traumatised individuals sought comfort from those who experienced similar horrors? And once they started a family, how did/didnt they ensure they parented effectively without imposing their own damage while instilling values - ensuring they were heeded by their offspring? They say opposites attract. They also say birds of a feather..... What's the right fit? Yet another theme we explore while navigating the daunting task of character development as we continue to write our movie with as much authenticity as possible. 07.01.2022 I have just connected with the most incredible individual. He has located himself in Warsaw and has formed a group, From The Depths which supports those deemed as Righteous Gentiles by the Israeli Holocaust Museum, Yad Vashem for their parts in risking their lives to save Jewish souls during WWII. He is ensuring during COVID19 that those still alive, all in their 90s have sufficient food, shelter and medical attention in order to express our undying gratitude for every singl...e life their families saved; and to demonstrate that, to our people, they will never be forgotten. As I owe my existence to one such individual who I hope to honour in film I will support his efforts by posting their stories - incredible acts of bravery, here. I hope you'll take a moment to read one or two. They are inspiring. Thank you Jonny Daniels for amazing charitable work. thesaviourmovie.com #covid19 #holocaust #poland

06.01.2022 How does Childhood Trauma evolve and manifest in adult life? A topic we are exploring while writing our movie. My father, for instance - was not a Holocaust Survivor but WAS a Survivor of the Holocaust.... The difference? He was not interned in a death camp. But he did lose all 4 grandparents, classmates, friends and his entire extended family at 10 years of age; Was forced to flee his home and country of birth, stripped and lined up with others, almost shot during his escape; And had to, as do all refugees - adjust to a new life, language and culture. This has, (and did have) profound ramifications. Something i wast too young to comprehend. Too self-absorbed in my youth to address. And nobody had therapy back then. They just compartmentalised. An issue we all need to be mindful of whenever we encounter anyone new. The back story. For more please visit: thesaviourmovie.com #PTSD #trauma #holocaust #mindfulness #cinema

06.01.2022 On reflection after Yom Hashoah- Holocaust Remembrance, Mark Twain, in 1899, wrote an essay Concerning The Jews ...the Jews constitute 1/4 of 1% of the human race. It suggests a nebulous puff of stardust lost in the blaze of the Milky Way. The Jew ought hardly be heard of, but he is as prominent on the planet as any other people, and his importance is extravagantly out of proportion to the smallness of his bulk. ... His contributions to the worlds list of great names in literature, science, art, music, finance, medicine are also out of proportion to the weakness of his numbers. He has made a marvelous fight in all ages; and has done it with his hands tied behind him. The Egyptians, Babylonians and the Persians rose, filled the planet with sound and splendor, then faded and passed away; the Greeks and Romans followed, made a vast noise, and were gone. Other people have held their torch high for a time but it burned out, and they sit in twilight now and have vanished. The Jew saw them all, survived them all, and is now what always was, exhibiting no decadence, no infirmities of age, no weakening of his parts, no slowing of his energies, no dulling of his alert but aggressive mind. All things are mortal but the Jews; all other forces pass, but he remains. Sorry Hitler. We won.

05.01.2022 Why do we revisit our youthful sense of fun as we age? What would we do if it was never there to access due to lifes circumstances? For many, those precious moments of spontaneous laughter and silliness; the freedom to let your hair down was not an option. Their lives were about the serious game of survival, of staying alive for another day, another hour.... We can go back there. To put aside the everyday, the stress, the mundane. For diversion. To escape. What do survivors of war, of trauma have in their memories to draw from? They dont. They had to push down the pain and start afresh. And so their new lives and families became the centres of their universe, wiping the past away. But could they? A theme we investigate as we write about my father and grandparents, refugees post-Holocaust, post-war, saved by a Righteous Gentile but carrying irreparable trauma from leaving loved ones behind to perish; raising a family in a new country and the impact on the next generation.
