25.01.2022 The Southern Singers are part of the online video being produced by the Southern Community Carols organisation. (This year, Co-vid has made the normal event impossible). Watch https://www.facebook.com/southerncarols/ for notification of availability. We are looking forward to seeing it.

20.01.2022 Get in early to order that special Christmas gift for your grandchild and at the same time, support The Southern Singers' fundraising effort. Orders taken until September 28th 2020. PM me if interested.

20.01.2022 OCCS Good Companions experienced first hand the positive effect on people in nursing homes during performances. Hopefully we will be able to offer this service again in the future.

19.01.2022 Check out our new 'easy to navigate' website: http://www.occs.org.au/

18.01.2022 Are you missing our performances as much as we are missing performing? Listen to us on YouTube in the meantime: TheSouthernSingers1 Hope it won't be too much longer.....

18.01.2022 Finally! Yes! We can go back to choir practice at Wakefield!! Monday, 20th July. Please read the following details carefully: * Arrive at normal time for a 6.30 p.m. start. You will need to record your attendance with John EVERY week, and ensure you abide by the social distancing rule when you come into the hall. * Wakefield House has set up a hand sanitising station just inside the door by which we enter. You MUST do this, on entering and EXITING also. After using the toi...lets, a thorough hand wash will be ok. * For the time being, we will not have a tea/coffee break so we don't have to interfere with the kitchen area. Just bring your usual drinking water. At 8.15 when Nisan is due to finish with us, we will have our quick 'messages' time, then home. * All the 'old' chairs have been replaced. Bill and other early arrivals will put the chairs out as usual. There will have to be extra rows to have the chairs 1.5 metres apart, probably 6 in a row. Even though the current ruling is 2 square metres per person, we still need to have the 'social distance' between the chairs. It's in the regulations. * AT THE END OF REHEARSAL, each person will be required to wipe the arms of their chair (arms only needed) with a sanitised paper towel from the 'cleaning station' against the far wall, then stack the chair. The new chairs are on trolleys of 10. * I know you always stay home if unwell, at any time, with a sniffle, temperature or sore throat. I assured Verna this morning that this has always been our practice. She did mention that if a case did arise, they would have to shut down the centre and have a deep clean. We don't want that to happen. See you on Monday Folks. See more

18.01.2022 Well done to The Sisters of Abundance

13.01.2022 On YouTube, NIsan has received 3 very positive comments for his "When the Saints Go Marchin' In" at last year's concert. Nice to see his talent being recognised by others. Our videos can be seen at TheSouthernSingers1

11.01.2022 Six groups took part in Adelaide Sings today and there was a good sized audience considering there were Co-vid restrictions. The Southeren Singers appreciated seeing and hearing other choirs performing in 2021 as we all missed out last year. Enthusiastic applause was given to each group, especially to the junior choir.
