25.01.2022 Becoming a School teacher is one thing. Turning into a teacher-librarian is something special. School libraries are critical hubs for student research and learning.

23.01.2022 It's not just kids who love writing and sharing stories.

22.01.2022 There are only a few weeks now until we launch the book! It’s been so fascinating to learn about the projects the awesome real-life women featured in Pippa and... Dronie are working on. This illustration shows Pippa and Dronie (who is hiding) with Monica, Yawuru Country Manager. Country Managers use drones to help keep track of the health of important environments. In this case, Dronie took aerial photographs that helped locate the worst areas of invasive weeds. Monica and Pippa are getting rid of a vine that has the potential to smother very special ecosystems unique to the Dampier Peninsula. Monsoonal Vine Thickets are remnants of rainforest, sheltered between and behind coastal sand dunes. They contain plants that were once food to the dinosaurs that roamed the coast, leaving their footprints in the mud. Many of their footprints are still visible today! The world’s biggest dinosaur footprint can be found near Broome, along with many of the most well-preserved and diverse dinosaur tracks to be found anywhere in the world. Behind Pippa there is another plant, but this one belongs there. It is called Goolyi Bush, an important medicinal food for Yawuru people, and also used by one of the area’s native animals jn an unexpected way! Monsoonal Vine Thickets contain many important plants and provide a home to many animals. I’ll tell you a story about one of them in my next post. #yawuru #yawurucountry #yawurucountrymanagers #rainforest #dinosaurs #broome #dinosaurcoast #remotesensing #dronephotography #drone @shemapsau #kidlitart #kidlit4climate #illustrator #australianillustrator #geospatialscience #stem #stemeducation #womeninstem #nyambaburuyawuru

22.01.2022 Creative people see things from a different angle...

21.01.2022 I wonder if there are any librarians who would want to start a virtual Write Club in your local area? I will give free access to this facebook page, to a dedicated website thewriteclub.com.au And, of course, marketing and admin support. ... You would need to host your local club, using your own ideas or ideas and activity plans I can supply. Please share this with anyone who might be interested. @spreadtheword101

20.01.2022 How good does that trolley of books look?

17.01.2022 Worth a look...

17.01.2022 Or one of your next character's.

13.01.2022 What a beautiful graphic for reframing #wholeheartedschoolcounseling

13.01.2022 Write about it.

12.01.2022 Support ABC for future generations. It's so important for all generations to have access to creating and consuming Australian content.

12.01.2022 This would make a great writing activity for kids and adults. Activity 1. Make up stories for any people you don't know. Activity 2. Share the story of any you do know. ... Activity 3. Research, alone or in teams, who they are and take notes on all. Go back to activity 1 and see how close or far you were from the true story Activity 4, 5, 6. There are so many other ideas I could give you. This is how easy it can be to combine maths, history, art, English, science, and more, into one activity.

05.01.2022 Might be time to start offering online writers' clubs? I could offer them for different age groups. Definitely free for any family who is struggling or can't afford to enrol for any reason. ... Let me know if there's any interest.

05.01.2022 Is this an oxymoron?
