25.01.2022 Australia and UAE are two very different countries. #australia uses common law, and #uae runs Islamic law. #brisbane and #dubai are therefore very different cities. Be very careful with their #law when you travel to Dubai. They have very strict social media laws. Posting photos of local people or traffic accidents onto the internet may land you in jail. In Australia, if you swear, no one cares. In Dubai, swearing in the public, giving a finger, or even swearing on whatsapp ...can get you into serious trouble. The Islamic #legal system protects men. Violence is seen by some husbands as a proper way to discipline their wives. Women being raped can be jailed for sex outside marriage. Do you agree that we live in a place with much more freedom? . . . . . . . #lawyersofinstagram #lawyerlife #immigrationlawyer #migratetoaustralia #corporatelawyer #lawyer #lawfirm #commonlaw #brisbanecity #immigration

21.01.2022 Amazing gala dinner celebrating 40 years of @radio4eb. It is fascinating to see people who have worked together for over 30 years together! Relationships within workplace should be treasured. It is what holds the team together. It is what fuels desire and hope. It is what binds peoples hearts. Without relationship, there will be no tolerance and no forgiveness. This applies to your clients and customers too. ... Are you building a relationship with your workmates and your customers?

20.01.2022 With travel bans still in place for Australia due to the coronavirus situation, visitors to Australia may be faced with the question of Do I stay? or Do I go?. If you are in Australia as a tourist on a temporary visa, you are only allowed to remain in Australia until your visa stay expiry date. With many airlines reducing or cancelling flights overseas, you may be wondering what do I do now? The Department of Home Affairs has given general advice to all Visitor Visa and E...TA holders to return to their home countries as quickly as possible. If you are unable to leave Australia as planned due to flight cancellations or lack of flight options, you must apply for a new visa before your visa expires to remain lawfully in the country. In some cases, you may be able to apply for a new Subclass 600 Visitor Visa to extend your stay in Australia for 3 or 6 months, depending on how much time you have already spent in Australia. You will need to show that you are a genuine tourist and have sufficient funds to support your continued stay in Australia. In some cases, you may have a No Further Stay condition on your current visa which prevents you from applying for another visa while you are in Australia. A request to DHA for this condition to be waived has to be approved before you can apply for another visa. Waivers are hard to get! You have to prove that there has been major changes to your situation which were outside of your control and there are now compelling reasons for a longer stay in Australia. Even if you have very strong reasons for staying, DHA may still refuse your request. DHA is taking 28 days or more on waiver requests so act early if you are in this situation. In other cases, you may be eligible to apply for a longer stay visa such as a Partner Visa if you are in a genuine relationship with an Australian and it is worth exploring other visa options. If your temporary visa has already expired, then you are now in Australia unlawfully. You must obtain another visa straight away to become lawful again. Everyones circumstances will be different and the visa pathway for someone else may not be suitable for you. We provide timely immigration advice tailored for you.

17.01.2022 Thank you heaps to our client for gifting these! Much appreciated!! It's fascinating how a wine business is carried forward by the family for 132 years. A few things interesting which happened in 1888:-... - In the UK, the Oaths Act 1888 was enacted, allowing the oath of allegiance to be affirmed rather to sworn to God, permitting atheists to sit in the House of Commons - The trademark "KODAK" was registered - The oldest surviving film was recorded, with a running time of 1.66 seconds - Hong Kong's Peak Tram begins operation - The world's first "long-distance" drive in the history of automobile by Bertha Benz - Vincent van Gogh cut off his left ear Source: Wikipedia

16.01.2022 Separation of powers mean that we have an independent legal court system and independent judges. When this independence is interrupted, the legal system becomes corrupted and judges become prosecutors. Separation of powers become Cooperation of powers. In Australia, we are grateful that we have independent Courts. How dark would it be if we dont?!

15.01.2022 Are you prepared?? Apart from storing canned food, long life milk, rice and flour in our pantry, what else can we do to prepare for the coronavirus (COVID-19), or a situation where we become seriously sick? You see, our world now talks about rights a lot (it is in deed important!). Everyone has their rights and no one should intrude other peoples rights. No one should have access to our bank accounts. No one should be able to determine how were medically treated.... We protect our rights so securely in a virtual safe so no one else could touch them. But, it might be wise to give a spare key of your safe to someone you trust. When you lose your key, it will be lifesaving that your spouse or your children or your parents or your best friend could open it for you! What happens when you become seriously ill, and you are no longer able to operate your bank account? You need someone whom your can trust to pay your bills on your behalf. Or when you are incapable of signing a surgery consent form for yourself. You need someone who has your authority to sign it for you. While you are storing spare food and spare toilet paper at home, also consider duplicating a spare "key" of your rights and give that to your family. Authorise them to deal with your affairs for you (when you cant do that yourself) ahead of time. That is a sensible and responsible thing to do! This "key" is a document called "Enduring Power of Attorney". Not many people seem to know that this document exists and understand how it operates. It is an inexpensive document to draft, and we encourage you to have one in place. Read further in the below article on how an Enduring Power of Attorney can help you. https://timeslawyers.com.au/what-should-i-do-legally-if-i-/

13.01.2022 Are you buying a house? Here are 5 important things that you should check: 1. Make sure you have enough time to seek finance approval. Is 7 days enough, or do you need 14 days? Ask your financier and your lawyer. 2. Get a good building and pest inspector. This is very important! Your lawyer should be able to suggest some reputable ones.... 3. Write into the contract the chattels that are included in your purchase, if any. If you dont wirte it in, they are not included! What are chattels? Check the blog below! 4. Tell your lawyer what special requests you have before you sign the contract. Once the contract is signed, its difficult to change! 5. Sign the contract using the correct entity. This is critical. If a trust is involved, you need to write it in before the contract is signed! Check the blog below for the meanings of some common conveyancing terms! https://timeslawyers.com.au/conveyancing-terminology/
