13.01.2022 Q. Should I wait to brush my teeth after I eat something acidic? A. Yes, in most cases it is best to wait about 30 minutes after drinking or eating something acidic like grapefruit, oranges or lemons so that you don't risk damaging your enamel while it's in a weakened state. You can drink a glass of water afterwards but don't brush straight away.

11.01.2022 Here's a short teeth brushing video from Queensland Health that should get kids and adults brushing for the full 2 minutes while having fun doing so. Have a listen while you brush tonight... https://www.youtube.com/watch

11.01.2022 It feels great to say farewell to winter, doesn't it? Whatever you are up to this spring, we hope it's wonderful!

11.01.2022 The days are getting shorter and colder too, which may have you reaching for more cups of tea or coffee than usual but this is not ideal for your teeth! Moderate consumption of these drinks is recommended and always try to have water around to give your mouth a quick wash afterwards.

10.01.2022 And just like that the Spring Racing Carnival fever hits Melbourne again! We'll be closed tomorrow (Tuesday 6th of November) for the race that stops the nation. Good luck on the horses everyone!

10.01.2022 We know how tempting it can be to reach for those sweet and delightful lollies, biscuits and chocolates, but if you limit the amount of sugar you consume, you'll be doing your teeth a huge favour in the long-term.

10.01.2022 Today is six years since we opened shop in Huntingdale! Thank you for all your continued support over the years. We really couldn't have done this without you, our valued patients and friends.

09.01.2022 Happy Halloween! If eating candy is on your agenda for today, make sure you have plenty of sips of water to reduce your chances of developing tooth decay.

09.01.2022 The school holidays are upon us again and no doubt a lot of fun is to be had! Is your child due for their regular dental check-up yet? We are open 6 days a week and would be happy to see you these school holidays.

09.01.2022 Q- How often do I floss? A- We recommend you should floss at least once a day in order to maintain optimal oral health and prevent gum disease. You could use the traditional dental floss or recently introduced water floss that is much more effective and has shown better results.

08.01.2022 With winters approaching the days are getting shorter and colder too, which may have you reaching for more cups of tea or coffee than usual but this is not ideal for your teeth! Moderate consumption of these drinks is recommended and always try to have water around to give your mouth a quick wash afterwards.

07.01.2022 Please note: We will be closed on Melbourne Cup Day- Tuesday 5/11/2019. See you all back on Wednesday 6/11/19!

06.01.2022 Is it time you changed your toothbrush? The average lifespan of a regular toothbrush is 3-4 months or until the bristles appear worn out. For a better clean with an effective result, make sure your toothbrush is working at its best!

05.01.2022 We know that your smile gives you the confidence you need to lead a happy life. So if you would like straighter teeth or are considering options for any missing teeth or simply would like whiter teeth, we are here to help!

04.01.2022 As another working year winds down, we'd like to thank YOU, our dear patients, for all your continued support during 2018. We hope you and your families have a very safe and joyful Christmas time and soak up everything the festive season has to offer. We will be closing after 5pm on December 22nd and will see you all again on Wednesday, 2nd of January 2019.

03.01.2022 Q. Should I be using a manual toothbrush or an electric one? A. Both regular and electric toothbrushes have their own distinct advantages so there's no single way of answering this question, as it varies for individuals' needs. An electric toothbrush is great for those people who suffer from arthritis for example as the brush cleans your teeth with minimal movement from you. It's also useful for setting a timer and some brands of electric toothbrushes even come with pressure ...sensors and various modes to try. A regular toothbrush will do a good job too but you must brush correctly (using the appropriate technique for holding and moving the brush) and for long enough (2-3 minutes/twice a day), plus these are generally much less expensive to buy. And remember, our dentist is here to answer any of your brushing questions during your regular check-up so don't hesitate to ask.

01.01.2022 We hope your 2019 has started off really well and your smile is giving you the confidence you need to reach your goals. We're here for all your cosmetic as well as preventative dental treatments this summer!

01.01.2022 Dear Patients, We can still see you if you have any DENTAL EMERGENCIES like pain, swelling, infection or broken tooth. If you have cough, cold, fever or any other COVID-19 symptoms please let us know on phone. Take care and stay safe!... Thanks & Regards, Tooth-n-gum Dental Team
