25.01.2022 Story time Before events that there are more than a few people attending, I get anxiety I get an uneasy feeling and lose the desire to attend... Many times in my younger years or early adult life I would be "lucky" enough to have work to be a dependable excuse The downside of missing events is I would feel guilt, disappointment and still, anxiety I learnt that if I prepare myself, physically, get my stuff ready, then this took a bit of the edge off I then learnt to think a little less about it. I use to be inbound thinking about every conversation, every possibility of bad outcomes that could occur. I don't do this anymore (99% of the time) It is still hard work to get there, but once I arrive the anxiety spikes, then settles, I sink into comfort and become social The transition can be different from event to event, but out of repetition it has become less painful and more fluid Point Avoiding hard things makes life harder Regardless of what it is, we need to push (at our own uncomfortable pace) boundaries of where emotions are keeping us safe or making us irrational

Portion sizes - people eat too large, too often. They eat with their eyes and not within their means Quality - I love Ben and Jerry's, a lot. But I can't eat it all the time. On the days that I am tired, wrecked, or stagnant. If i do not move, my head starts to fill with fog, clouds of self doubt and self loathing creeps in The days I least want to move, are the days I should Time to time, I fail at this and I must go into recovery mode But more often than not, if I stay on top of it, my general stress and anxiety levels decline and my capacity to function improves If you feel like stopping because your head space sucks, try moving, I promise you will feel better If you need help in the accountability then clubs, team sports or a bro-walks are a great assistance for the task

You can dig a little bit deeper Doing hard tasks make an easy life Doing easy tasks make a hard life This is one of the people that impresses me the most, she is my 7 year old daughter Her likes Baking, baking shows, gardening, leopards, animal print clothes, swinging an axe, burpees and monkey bars There are plenty of other things and there will be new things that come along My job is to make sure when she stops things or her likes change it isnt because it is a little bit harder, a challenge and because she genuinely doesnt enjoy the "thing" anymore Dont quit, unless it is what you want

It is an important reminder ........ Boys Don't Cry Being a father of two amazing girls my whole perspective of gender stereotypes was blown away My daughters can be and do whatever they desire with their lives At present Willow is tossing up between a politician or a lawyer Madeline wants to be a Baker/Pastry Chef There is no limitation on the job they want or within our capacity to cater, the sports they want to play If I had a son this emotion, desire would be exactly the same. He could be or do what he wants and most importantly he would be allowed to express himself. This would apply to the gender my child identifies as and the people they love Being in Australia often it is the norm that to be a boy, a man you must be tough, made of concrete Never give in to our emotions to the weakness of sadness or tears. The follow-on of this mindset can be devestating for the human, their future partners and relationships I bring this up as I see it all the time I was sitting next to a father (very well may be the most amazing father in the world, this isn't about his ability to parent). He sat his 3/4 year old son (who was upset about something unknown to me) on the bench and simply said what many of us have said or been told "stop it, boys don't cry" The thing is, we do and we should Expression of pain, joy or confusion is okay Crying because your team loses the world cup, muffassa dies in the lion king, you have a fight with a friend or the passing of a loved one, is okay, it is an emotion, express it and do so without shame You're allowed to show emotion, it is what makes us strong and unique, it allows others to know how we feel and by retaining emotions it can lead to physical trauma, distancing and you stepping away from who you are Remember, you want your son to throw like a girl, you want your daughter to be tough and you want your child, children to be the best version of themselves Nurture who they are and they will amaze you everyday Boys do cry, Cry like a Man
