25.01.2022 On a cool to cold and somewhat breezy Spring day, rain held off for the 50 players in the first Stableford competition after regional Victoria was released to Covid-19 Step Three. Best today were Brian Cross (21) with 39 points and Colin Wilson (11), whose 38 points edged out Rhonda Holcombe (35) on the same score. A handful of players had 36 points: Huw John, Robin Wilson, Brenton Payne, Barry Knowles and John Goodman. On 35 were Les Healey, Gary Harley (Gisborne) and Jack C...onway, and on 34 Ross Jackson and Gary Middleton. We will be looking to go back to grades and the ball comp next week now that the clubhouse is open and prizes can be collected.

25.01.2022 In today's Social Stableford there were some excellent scores submitted in perfect early Spring conditions. Jan Baczynski (37) had an excellent 42 points, well matched by Robin Wilson (5) who had 69 off the stick (2 birdies, 1 bogey, 15 pars) to also record 42. Bob Hogan was very close to the top with 41. Sue Byrne, Mark Merigan, Russell Hanson and Darrin MacLean all had 39. Geoff Durham finished with a solid 38, Mark Fisher and Brenton Payne had 37, Bob Penrose and Gary Middleton 36, and rounding out the top 25% were Vicki Adamson and John Smithwick with 35.

25.01.2022 In perfect spring conditions, an excellent field of 68 turned out for the Drummond Niddrie sponsored October mid-week monthly medal. Gerard Hughes (handicap 30) was the C grade and medal winner on a count-back with a nett 72. In B grade John Sadler (16) won, also with a score of 72. Ron Winzer (13) with a 74 was the A grade winner also on a count-back. Others who scored well were James Connell 73, Rosalie Rajki (Midlands GC visitor), Ross Fletcher, Kevin Robinson (Buninyong), Ross Jackson, Trevor McKeon, John Kerr and Rob Devereux (Mt Macedon GC) all finished with 74. Nearest the pin winners were James Boland (Kilmore) 2nd, Steven Rajki (Mount Xavier) 5th, and Ron Winzer 13th and 15th.

24.01.2022 WORKING BEE CHANGE The Trentham environment program working bee planned for the Hill area on Friday September 25th has been postponed due to the inclement weather forecast. Some brave members did manage to plant 120 tubes in the cold and showers today. New dates for working bees are Wednesday 30th September, Sunday 4th October and Wednesday 7th October from 9.00 until lunch time.... Please come along and help! If you can, bring a small trowel, bucket or watering can, spade, gloves and a hammer to tap in the guard stakes. You can turn up for the whole time, or just an hour or two. Contact Geoff Durham 0438 621 483 with questions.

22.01.2022 Somehow the heavy band of rain that impacted southern Victoria didn't come as far north as Trentham, and today's social golfers played in ideal conditions with high cloud and little wind. James Connell (19) continued a run of good form, submitting an excellent score of 40 points. John Goodman (17) was back in touch with 38 points. Other good scores submitted were 37 points from John Smithwick, John Bell, Rachael Mitchell and Roger Cripps. Leif Louwen-Skovdem, Marc Merigan an...d Brenton Payne submitted 36 points. The photo shows the excellent course conditions, this one on the 5th hole.

20.01.2022 10 played in the chicken run tonight. Greg Lewis was the winner, he had a great score of 26 points. Runner up was Ross Jackson with 24 points. It was quite warm tonight, but conditions on the course are really great at the moment.

19.01.2022 Nine pairs played in the womens 4BBB today, there were some really great scores. Winners were Rhonda Bradley and Kirsten Jensen with 48 points, they won on a countback from Rachael Mitchell and Trudie Ferry. Next best was Yvonne Sillett and Helen Casmore with 46 points. Summer comp starts on Wednesday, see you there.

18.01.2022 There were some good social golf scores submitted for handicap this week. On Monday John Hudson (18) continued his run of good scores with 37 points. Max Pearman (27) had 35 points. Thirty-one players submitted scores on Thursday in reasonable conditions, and the best was Ross Jackson (23) with 39 points, followed by Brenton Payne (9) with 37 points.... Then the "Antarctic Blob" hit the region on Saturday, with temperatures close to zero, hail and some occasional snow flurries. Despite this, fourteen players actually played and completed their round. What's more, the scores submitted were really very good. Brenton Payne (9) had an amazing 41 points. He must have ice in his veins, maybe his customary shorts numb him to the cold. Three players submitted 36 points: Simon Ovenden (1), Graeme Smith (18) and Ross Jackson (23). John Goodman (17) had 35 points. The weather is looking better next week, but we think it's still going to be a long way from a "Tropical Blob"! The course needs to dry out. Let's hope we can get back to proper competitions for all members, with actual prizes, sometime in September.

18.01.2022 Colin Wilson was the star of the mid-week par event today. Off a handicap of 11, Colin won A grade with a great score of 6 up. Hot on his heels was Trudie Ferry (42) who won C grade, also with a good score 5 up. The B grade winner was Chris Campbell (19) who finished 2 up. Jim Colgan, Robin Wilson and Michael Hotchin all scored 3 up. Nearest the pins were won by Brenton Payne (2nd), Chris Milne (5th and 15th) and Harold Moore (13th).

17.01.2022 Trentham environment program working bees Wednesday September 23rd and Friday September 25th from 9.00am The Trentham GC environment program has commenced planting on the hill area behind the 14th green. We have a total of 1800 tube stock to plant! The club had successful working bees on Friday and Saturday September 18th and 19th and where 300 tubes were planted, watered and guarded against rabbits.... The planting work is very time consuming. To continue it we will be having more working bees this Wednesday September 23rd and Friday September 25th from 9.00 until lunch time. Please come along and help! If you can, bring a small trowel, bucket or watering can, spade, gloves and a hammer to tap in the guard stakes. You can turn up for the whole time, or just an hour or two. Contact Geoff Durham 0438 621 483 with questions.

16.01.2022 Again the weather gods played their part with today's 4 Ball being conducted in almost perfect conditions, this was reflected in the scoring with the pairing of Gary Middleton (14) and Mike DeJong (25) finishing with an excellent 51 points followed by the pair of Ken Anders and Neil Aplin on 50 points. 16.01.2022 The changeable weather conditions and some difficult pin placements challenged today's field with only the A Grade winner achieving over par, Alan Snowden (10) won A Grade with 38 points with both the B Grade Bob Penrose (18) and the C Grade winner Peter McBride (23) finishing with 33 points.
